00:00So Donald Trump announced yesterday that the US and Iran were going to be holding direct talks.

00:06However, Iran's foreign ministers pretty much contradicted that.

00:10He came out on social media saying they're indirect talks.

00:15What's going on?

00:16Well, yeah, I said before I didn't think when it came to the tariffs that this wasn't really rhetoric

00:21and it was concerning and it wasn't surprising.

00:24This is definitely, there's a lot of rhetoric in the Iranian story.

00:27And it's kind of a bit like, you know, with Trump, you know, China might be taking over as the baddie

00:33in his sort of story that he wants narrative, as you would say.

00:39But so Iran, I think, is probably going to move up in sort of the rankings as the baddie in sort of the White House.

00:46But there's a lot of rhetoric.

00:48I was reading the Reuters story and they were talking about how, you know, is this direct, is it indirect?

00:53And it's not really a good sign if you can't even decide whether it's direct or indirect before you even start talking.

00:59And, for example, like to give you some other information, there was a Reuters sort of unnamed Iranian diplomat

01:05said that we need to lift some sanctions and we need to unfree some money, you know, as a sort of carrot to start the talks.

01:11But then at the same time, the US Energy Secretary said, well, if there's not going to be talks,

01:18then there's going to be tighter sanctions.

01:19So it's not surprising that no one's really optimistic about this.

01:23And I kind of think, yes, it's very, very good that you've got talks.

01:27But if you can't even agree what type of talks they are, then it's a bit, it's not a great start.

01:32I think it's a great start.

01:34So, you know, I think it's a great start.
