At a town hall on Tuesday, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) was asked about the House-passed SAVE Act.
Transcript
00:00I was going to ask about the SAVE Act.
00:07What's your opinion and do you support it or you're against it?
00:11Which one?
00:12The SAVE Act.
00:13Well, first explain it.
00:14It won't allow me to vote.
00:17I'll have to go get a passport because my birth name is not my current name, last name.
00:27You have not heard of that?
00:28Yes, I have heard of it and every lawyer I've talked to that's been involved with that legislation
00:35says it would be ridiculous to think that women can't vote.
00:41I would want you to be able to vote and before the bill passes in the United States Senate
00:50we'll guarantee you that that's not part of it.
00:53I don't expect this bill to come up in the United States Senate
00:56because it's going to require 60 votes to bring it up
00:59but if it does come up
01:01I would see that my wife would be able to vote just like you want to vote.
01:06And it passed in the House though.
01:09It did pass in the House.
01:10It already passed in the House.
01:11Like 260, 230.
