Hello, Miriam at the Bureau with your national weather forecast for tomorrow, Thursday the 24th
00:05
of April. Taking a look at tomorrow's weather map, we can see strong areas of high pressure
00:10
extending from southeast Australia and pushing across those eastern and central states. Now,
00:16
that high pressure is bringing mostly settled conditions to those areas for our Thursday.
00:21
However, we do still have a low pressure trough lying along the east coast, which is continuing
00:26
to generate some showers and thunderstorms for New South Wales and southern Queensland.
00:31
Meanwhile, we have a deep low pressure system moving over the Great Australian Bight,
00:36
directing a cold front through Western Australia and into South Australia tomorrow,
00:41
likely to bring showers, thunderstorms and a shift to cooler weather behind it.
00:45
In the north, things are a little bit more settled, but we do still have a few showers
00:50
and thunderstorms continuing through parts of the tropics. Let's take a state-by-state look
00:54
at tomorrow's forecast now, starting with Queensland. For Queensland tomorrow, we're likely to see
01:00
showers and thunderstorms extending across southeastern parts of the state, pushing across
01:05
the southern interior as well. Now, rainfall totals will generally be low to moderate, but we may see
01:10
some locally heavy falls along the coast to the south of Brisbane and across those adjacent ranges
01:16
too, most likely with thunderstorms during the afternoon. It will be a lot drier across the central
01:22
coast and across those inland areas with sunny conditions expected, although we do still have
01:27
a few showers and thunderstorms lingering across the Cape York Peninsula. For Brisbane tomorrow,
01:32
we're expecting a showery day with a top of 26 degrees. In New South Wales tomorrow, showers and
01:38
coastal thunderstorms continue along the east coast, but they will be contracting northwards as the day
01:43
goes on. Moderate rainfall totals are possible across those northern coastlines, with the risk of
01:49
locally heavy falls for parts of the mid-north coast and northern rivers, once again, most likely with
01:54
thunderstorms through the afternoon and evening. Becoming drier through the southeast and remaining
01:59
dry across inland parts of New South Wales tomorrow. Sydney is looking at a shower or two for our Thursday
02:04
and a top of 25 degrees, mostly cloudy down in Canberra and a top of 23 degrees. In Victoria tomorrow,
02:12
morning fogs in the south and a mild and mostly sunny day ahead, although we do have some afternoon showers
02:18
and thunderstorms developing across parts of Gippsland and through the west. Now rainfall totals won't
02:23
be very high, but we may hear a couple of rumbles of thunder if we're in those areas tomorrow. Melbourne is
02:29
heading for a mostly sunny top of 26 degrees. Possible morning fogs through Tasmania tomorrow, then a mostly cloudy day,
02:37
a few showers through the north and the west, although with generally low rainfall totals expected. It will be mild as well. Hobart is
02:44
heading for a partly cloudy top of 23 degrees. In South Australia tomorrow, patchy morning fogs through
02:51
southeastern parts of the state, then a warm, dry and mostly sunny day following. We do have a cold front,
02:58
pushing into those western districts later in the day, however, bringing cloud, showers and even possible
03:03
thunderstorms through the late afternoon and evening. For Adelaide tomorrow, we're looking at a mostly sunny
03:09
top of 26 degrees. That cold front is expected to move across southern inland and southeastern
03:16
Western Australia tomorrow, bringing showers and isolated thunderstorms to those areas, the storms
03:22
more likely about the coastal fringe. Now in the wake of that cold front, showers will start to ease back,
03:27
but we're likely to see large waves and strong to damaging winds, particularly across the southwest coast,
03:33
where we have a severe weather warning already in place for that wind risk there. Perth is looking at
03:39
a shower or two easing and a top of 22 degrees tomorrow. Further north and inland, conditions will
03:44
be sunnier, drier and more settled for Western Australia. In the Northern Territory tomorrow,
03:50
sunny and dry conditions continue, particularly across southern and central parts of the Territory,
03:55
a little bit of cloud across the top end coast with the chance of a few showers and the odd thunderstorm,
04:01
particularly across the northeast top end coast. Darwin is looking at a mostly dry day tomorrow,
04:06
though a partly cloudy day and a top of 33 degrees. You can find the detailed forecasts for your area via
04:13
the Bureau's website, the BOM Weather app and via our social media. Have a great day and we'll catch you next time.
