Warnings issued for damaging winds in parts of SA, Victoria and NSW

A severe weather warning has been issued for parts of South Australia.

00:00this could potentially be the worst weather that south australians have seen last winter we're down

00:09on the coast this morning and those winds are really picking up and you can probably see the

00:13very choppy sea conditions behind me but a vigorous cold front is crossing central parts of the coast

00:21this morning and that is set to bring with it thunderstorms and rainfall the bureau of meteorology

00:29is warning that this could cause significant damage to property and the state's emergency

00:34services are on alert this morning and ready to respond to an increased number of call outs to

00:41homes they're also warning too of the dangers of falling tree branches they say that given the

00:47extended dry period that we've seen across the state that tree limbs are more likely to fall off

00:54in these thunderstorm conditions there is some good news though this rain is much needed in the

00:59state especially for farmers who have gone through the driest start to the year since 2006. it's also

01:07hoped too that this strong wind and rainfall could help break up a toxic algal bloom which is currently

01:15which is currently affecting parts of the fleurio york peninsulas and kangaroo island and has killed a

01:22countless number of marine life there so conditions here are set to intensify throughout the day

01:29but they are set to gradually recede from tonight and into tuesday yeah good news for some people

01:41that's right so this severe weather warning also extends to victoria too they are expecting to see those

01:48damaging wind gusts especially for the western and central districts for the grampians and the central

01:56and eastern ranges they could see peak wind gusts in excess of 100 kilometers per hour

02:02there's also a warning too for abnormally high tides which is putting coastal communities in victoria on

02:09alert this morning laurna
