Woman shot by police at north Queensland pub on Tuesday afternoon

An investigation is underway into the shooting of a woman by police at a Townsville pub.

00:00This all began at around 5.30 last night, when police were called to the West End Hotel

00:08in Townsville.

00:09Now, when they arrived, they found a 17-year-old girl, allegedly armed with a knife, and making

00:16threats.

00:17Now, police say once they arrived, the girl then turned her attention to the officers

00:21and actually began coming towards them in a threatening manner.

00:26And that is when police opened fire and shot her in the abdomen.

00:30Now, we understand that since that time, she has been taken to the Townsville University

00:35Hospital and has undergone surgery, and she is now in a stable condition.

00:40However, a crime scene has been declared at the West End Hotel, and an investigation is

00:45underway, which will include speaking to the people who were there as patrons last night.
