00:00I just wanted to comment on the Woodward, Geyser, and Edlo nominations, as is often the case
00:07in right-wing rhetoric. Accusations signal intentions in order to disable the charge
00:17later on. So the Biden DOJ was repeatedly accused of weaponization, which was the
00:27rhetorical preparation for a MAGA DOJ that is actually weaponized. And I believe that Woodward
00:38and Geyser and Edlo all continue this effort at MAGA weaponization of the Department of
00:48Justice. As Ranking Member Durbin just pointed out, when the Department of Justice can't tell
00:53the difference in a violent rioter assaulting federal law enforcement, and some get pardons,
01:02and other get Marines and tanks and charges, something has gone wrong with the prosecution
01:07standards over the Department of Justice. And when it's the MAGA ones who are getting the pardons,
01:12it's pretty clear what the hell is going on in the MAGA weaponized Department of Justice.
01:17In the case of Geyser, we have the added factor of him being completely unqualified for the job at
01:24Office of Legal Counsel. Why would you want to put in somebody who is completely unqualified
01:30for the Office of Legal Counsel? Same reason they put in somebody who is completely unqualified
01:36for the Office of EPA General Counsel. You put somebody in who knows they're not qualified for
01:42their job, and so they'll do whatever they're told and whatever they're asked. And what we're seeing
01:47is the early signs of that already with the Trump MAGA OLC for the first time overruling 90 years of
01:56OLC precedent to say that the president can unwind monuments designations. This is a constant feature
02:04now, and I'm going to keep calling it out. We deserve an American Department of Justice, not a MAGA
02:10Department of Justice.
02:15Thank you very much, Mr. Chairman. I'm going to have to leave shortly because I
