00:00Former M.I.C. President G. Palinivelle passed away at Kuala Lumpur Hospital this morning.

00:07M.I.C. Vice President T. Murugia said that Palinivelle 76 died at 8 a.m.

00:13Palinivelle, a former Cameron Highlands MP, joined M.I.C. as an ordinary member in 1968.

00:20He took over the leadership of the party when long-serving president Asami Velu stepped down in 2010 after helming M.I.C. for 31 years.

00:29The Penang-born Palinivelle served as minister in the Prime Minister's Department from August 2011 to May 2013

00:38and Natural Resources and Environment Minister from May 2013 to July 2015.

00:44He also held deputy ministerial positions in the Rural Development Ministry, Women, Family and Community Development Ministry,

00:51and Plantation Industries and Commodities Ministry.
