Claregate primary school.
Transcript
00:00My name is Mr Murphy, I'm the head teacher of Claregate Primary School.
00:06It's lovely to have you here today, thank you for coming.
00:09As you can see in the background, if I don't get run over, we're doing bikeability.
00:13And this is all to do with the children's balance.
00:17So they haven't got any pedals, their feet, they push themselves off.
00:21And we find that if their core strength is really good,
00:25the children become better at writing, concentrating,
00:28and it's just lovely to get them in the outdoors as well.
00:32So they really, really enjoy it.
00:35And it's a structured scheme which is intended to get the children moving
00:39and just enjoying absolutely everything.
00:43And as you can see, they haven't quite mastered it yet.
00:46Unless that was deliberate.
00:49So do you mind just telling us a bit about the school?
00:53How would you describe the atmosphere?
00:56It's a family school.
00:58It's a school where, you know, all the children are valued.
01:02It's a school where, you know, we try to remain as close as we possibly can to the parents.
01:07And it's a happy place.
01:09You know, everybody who comes here, they always say, you know, it's special.
01:12They can tell straight away when they walk in.
01:14And I think that's reflected in the children.
01:16You know, they're happy and well balanced and they like coming to school.
01:20I've been a head teacher for 28 years and I've got four weeks and one day left before I retire.
01:28So this is my last few weeks and I'll miss the children ever so ever so much.
01:35Hold on.
01:36Hold on.
