This is a country and western song I wrote about an outlaw cowboy and his sad end, leaving behind his young love.

00:30Billy came back for an hour to marry his beautiful bride. But lawmen were chasing behind him, so Billy, poor Billy, must ride.
00:49He left a rose on her doorstep, along with a message she found. That said to my sweetheart from Billy, cause Billy, poor Billy's left town.
01:09She followed him on to Laredo, to see her young Billy again. Only to find he had left there, having to move on again.
01:30Billy was so near the border, a posse was tracking him down. He wasn't held in for prison, he was New Mexico bound.
01:50He left a rose for his sweetheart, along with a message she found. That said to my sweetheart from Billy, cause Billy, poor Billy's left town.
02:20Just as he got to the border, he met the posse head on. The gunfight to follow was bitter, but Billy was battling on.
02:41Only one chance in a million, a bullet hit poor Billy's chest. He laid on his six-gun just crying, and calling his sweetheart in death.
03:02He held a rose in his hand. He held a rose in his hand, and spoke with his world falling down.
03:13And said to my sweetheart from Billy, cause Billy, poor Billy's left town.
