00:00Hello. Yes, a major water pipe that burst caused significant flooding in South East London on Tuesday.
00:10Southwark Council said it has worked with Thames Water and the Metropolitan Police at the scene on Iddleton Road in Bermondsey.
00:20A council spokesman said they had set up a rest centre to help people who had had to leave their homes due to the flooding.
00:29A spokesman has said we know some properties have unfortunately been affected by the flooding and that our team is on the ground supporting residents working to clear the local area.
00:43They added to keep everyone safe, traffic management is in place while the work is ongoing.
00:49They added that homes in SE1, SE4, SE5, SE14 and SW8 and SW9 amongst others should all have water following that disruption.
01:02Now local residents apparently said the scene was really bad and that water was flooding down the roads from the bridge with residents having to actually evacuate their house.
01:14Apparently it was difficult to tell just how high the water was eventually going to rise.
01:20Now either this pipe or a separate pipe pipe in South London has led to a large sinkhole and road closures and diversions in Clapham.
01:29Emergency repairs are ongoing in Kings Avenue right near Clapham Common and Thames Water has warned that this is going to be difficult to repair.
