00:40offensive lines patriots had the 32nd best offensive line the worst offensive line in
00:46football you know where it is pre uh pre-season starting this year it's second i mean i mean
00:53seriously 20th 29th 29th and the reason i bring that up is to back up fred's point
01:00they don't have the 21st best roster they are better pretty much all around from where they
01:07ended last season but the point is you're starting from zero right and you're a two or a three as
01:13opposed to a five or a six that was the argument we were having or not an argument discussion we
01:19were having with mike reese when he floated the idea of the possibility of this team winning nine
01:24games they're not winning nine games they're going to win six or seven because the schedule is bad
01:30but as much as you look at other teams on the schedule as wins for you those other teams are
01:36looking at you and saying that's a win for us well the thing is this is that you're going to be better
01:41i mean i mean just you will you have a better coach you went crazy in free agency and that always
01:47get you a couple wins in the short term it doesn't help you in the long term but in the short term
01:53and and but you know you're having a rookie if you're lucky start every game which you think is
02:01a great thing but you know there might have been games for that percent just by being a veteran one
02:06that may can't and second of all he's gonna make mistakes he's gonna throw into coverage he's gonna
02:11think he's got an arm that's more powerful than everyone else he's gonna he's going to throw into
02:17triple coverage where there's no receiver open it's part of the maturation process for any
02:22quarterback so there's the stakes have raised so much for him because it was just show your like
02:27elite physical talent last year and hooray and now it's going to be like oh you want me to win games
02:34for you and how is this roster better than 10 other teams rosters that's fascinating to me
02:41you don't know what drake may is they're not great at running back they're not good at receiver
02:48their offensive line's not good secondary it's all deep well yeah their secondary is good yeah
02:53their secondary is very good so yeah and and look they're they're they're praising and this has been
02:58going on for years he plays a premium in terms of like evaluating a team's overall uh quality based on
03:06the quality of specifically your two corners and if you have by then the jets should have a better
03:11a better roster the jets are 29th and the jets have better corners than the the or at least the same
03:19yeah as the patriots going on which sauce gardener shows up but yes well sauce gardener even when he's
03:24bad and he drove me crazy last year isn't bad go ahead here here's what you need to know about the

03:42four of those guys could be starting for you by the second half of the season garrett bradbury we
03:49talked is not a good center jared wilson is supposedly the next guy campbell's gonna start
03:54immediately but you were said it yourself running back wasn't good last year henderson could be your
03:59starter and kyle williams who knows who the other guy is from stefan diggs and who knows what version
04:05of diggs you're gonna get you could have four rookies starting for you by the middle of the
04:10season that's not a roster that's in middle of the pack that's a roster that's near the bottom i just
04:16think that it's just out the expectations for this team are just crazy at this grade and it happens
04:23every year there's everyone loves the nfl myself included it's a lot of fun when it starts like
04:29around this time of year you start going like okay let's have like sundays taken care of for a while
04:35i'll take the weather change let's get football going at least that's how i feel and you start
04:41and there starts to be group thinking it's not even local it's national there's just this
04:45someone gets an idea and they the thing about anything politics anything is that you can
04:52just create something in your head and make an argument for it right and then other people hear
04:57that argument they go oh and then they start adding to that argument and i think that's very much where
05:02the patriots are this year like if the patriots won seven games if i'm a patriots fan i'm like great
05:08great that means that may was pretty good that means that our defense played well and that you know we
05:16have to improve on our offensive line and our receiving receivers that and then you know what you need
05:21next year you win seven games this year next year you improve in those areas now you're talking
05:27about you could win the division i'm talking about winning the division absolutely but this year
05:32no nine games absolutely i think you're out of your effing mind i don't think you're as good as the
05:37jets i really don't ow they really hate fields they really really hate fields but is fields any worse
05:45than drake may i think here i think he will be yes see i don't know this year if he is he he will
05:51he's not gonna i mean drake may is gonna have a way better career but i don't know if this year
05:56game by game drake may is a better quarterback than justin phillips now at the end of the season he
06:01may be the offensive line will have a lot to say about how good the jets offensive line is better
06:06than the patriots that's true that's true i mean you got morgan moses who i love and is a great
06:12locker room guy but he's 34 and he's walking around on broken sticks in your injury prone but
06:18going back to what we started this brief conversation with he's better than what you had last year by a
06:24lot the only reason i'm bringing up the jets too is just the randomness of all of this like that
06:28they're like last year the jets were supposed to be like in the super bowl like it's just
06:31people like who you know it's just people land on something and then it gets out of control and i
06:37think that's where the patriots are this this is the crawling stage you were you were a dead stop
