00:00Hello, welcome to Chiyun Jiqiyuan Giangtai.
00:30China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology says
00:33China since last year has produced nearly 100 embodied AI robotic products
00:38claiming the country holds 70% of the global market
00:42due largely to its unrivaled stem-to-stern supply chain of critical parts
00:47and advancements in its own AI and chips.
00:50The embodiment, if you will, of China's deep-seek moment.
00:54I think that ushered in the whole corporate culture
00:58where we're trying many Gen AI use case.
01:03We have also labs and PhDs who work on these things.
01:07When would this ever impact the bottom line or have like real impact?
01:11I think that's the question.
01:12We do know that the central government has put out a venture fund
01:15tapping about $138 billion for the development of humanoid robots
01:21for industry and for personal use.
01:24That is a lot of money and probably just the tip of the iceberg.
01:28In an otherwise difficult job market in China,
01:32online recruitment firm Xiaoping says
01:34the number of job openings in China's humanoid robotics sector
01:37has quadrupled so far this year from last,
01:41with salaries for the needed algorithm engineers
01:44rising well past the average urban pay.
01:47Hangzhou-based Unitree is one of the pioneers of consumer robotics in China,
01:52offering its latest so-called humanoid agent AI avatar,
01:57the 4-foot, 2-inch, 77-pound G1, on the web for $16,000.
02:03He can do all kinds of things.
02:05He can run, he can jump, he can get your coffee.
02:07Or for $1,600, there's the 4D Ultra Wide Recognition LiDAR-equipped GoToDog
02:13with plenty of tricks up its 12 flexible knee joint motors.
02:17It can stand. It's just the beginning stage.
02:23For China's vast industrial complex as well,
02:26rapid automation includes the increasing use of inspection and diagnostic bots
02:31with embodied AI, such as Lenovo's six-legged Daystar,
02:35deployed in places unreachable by or unsafe for humans.
02:39I think the Chinese robots will come into the world, you know,
02:45in a way that as a price for money, a price of value,
02:48that will be quite unbeatable.
02:49With the backing of state policy and funds,
02:52expect a myriad of new embodied AI products to try and grab your attention.
02:57Like it or not, we may be staring directly into the future.
03:01Stephen Engel, Bloomberg News, Shanghai.
