00:03So why did she choose not to participate in the show?

00:06So back then, she really wanted to be a musician.

00:10And the kind of musician she wanted to be was like a Fiona Apple, like Mazzy Star,

00:17like this kind of obscure, mysterious, moody.

00:24And she deemed doing a show on MTV as like low-hanging fruit.

00:30And she was like, I'm not going to be seen like riding coattails kind of thing.

00:36Like that's how she perceived it.

00:39And then once the show was hugely successful, I think she was kind of like,

00:45well, I can't now come on because I don't want to be seen even more as jumping on the bandwagon.

00:51And so she just kind of like dug her heels in and wanted to be relatively private and obscure.

00:58Yeah, I always wondered when I'd see her in like the background, her blurred face was like,

01:02what are you doing, Amy?

01:04Does she, I don't want to say regret not doing it.

01:05I don't, I've never had the conversation with her.

01:11We're not close at all.

01:12Like we don't, we don't have a great relationship.

01:15She'll be the first to tell you that.

01:16So it's no secret.

01:18So I've never, I've never asked her outright.

01:20Like, do you regret it?

01:22Um, I think there must, there must be a level of like, Hey, what, you know, my life probably

01:29would have been different than what it is if I'd have done that.
