Ruckus in court complex as woman tries to stop journalists covering robbery case

There was a brief commotion at the court complex in Ayer Keroh when a woman tried to prevent media personnel from doing their jobs.   The incident occurred on Tuesday (Aug 5) morning when two women followed the accused, Amirul Hamry Hambalyi Azahari, 27, as he was being escorted by police after claiming trial to armed robbery at a convenience store in Melaka. 00:08related to an accused in an armed robbery case, attempted to stop media personnel from filming.

00:14The incident occurred near the police counter as two women followed the 27-year-old accused,

00:20Amirul Hamri Hambali Azahari, who was being escorted by police after claiming trial.

00:25One woman in her 20s approached a senior TV cameraman and told him to stop recording,

00:31while personnel from a Chinese media outlet were also reportedly obstructed and verbally harassed.

00:43Both women claimed to hold official positions. The situation was brought under control within two

00:48minutes. Amirul was charged with robbing a convenience store at 3 a.m. on July 29,

00:54using a butcher knife, stealing RM202.80 in cash, three boxes of cigarettes, and a barcode scanner.

01:03He faces up to 20 years in jail and possible caning under Section 392 of the Penal Code.

01:09The unrepresented accused was granted RM9,000 bail with conditions,

01:14and the court set September 9 for mention.
