00:00Things that every Southerner should add to their summer bucket list.
00:03Watching the movie and then proceeding to make fried green tomatoes.
00:07Y'all, this might be my favorite time of year when the garden is full of tomatoes.
00:13Everybody fries their green tomatoes and their okra differently with different spices.
00:17I find that green tomatoes don't really need a whole lot of extra frills, just some salt and pepper.
00:23If I'm feeling extra fancy, I will throw in some smoked paprika.
00:27But when it comes to cornmeal, you're going to need to get a specific kind.
00:31Finely ground cornmeal.
00:33Put them in the flour mixture, then into your egg mixture, then your seasoned flour and cornmeal mixture.
00:40Carefully drop the tomatoes in some hot grease.
00:42Fry them until they're nice golden brown and crispy on both sides.
00:46Does it get better than this? I don't think so.
00:48Now while I could just sit here and eat them, I love to whip myself up a little bit of comeback sauce.
00:54You have got to add fried green tomatoes to your summer bucket list.
00:58And you better do it fast too before all the tomatoes start turning red.
