00:00Good morning Sheffield, it's Alistair from the Sheffield Star and I'm speaking to you from Hindhound Crescent where you can see there's quite a large police scene around me.
00:07A lot of residents spoke to me today to say they woke up just to find a large police cordon in place.
00:11There are at least six police vehicles that I can count from going around this very large cordon.
00:16I can say that here outside of Hindhound Cross down to Wensley Road over there and all of the little gennels and all of the little footpaths around it are also taped off as of this morning.
00:25Residents say they woke up and found it like this one and a lot of rumours circulating that might have been a shooting.
00:30We can confirm that now South Yorkshire Police sent a statement today that I can read out to you.
00:34Officers say that around 11.20pm last night officers were in control on the Burngroove area.
00:39They were alerted to an incident on Wensley Street at a property, so a house in the area.
00:44Officers attended where they found damage consistent with firearms.
00:47Armed police were deployed to the scene and confirmed the damage were consistent with a firearms discharge.
00:51A wider search of the area led to a vehicle being found which also had damage consistent with a firearms discharge.
00:57What we can confirm in the meantime, there have been no injuries reported as of right now.
01:01Despite the very large police scene, no one appears to have been hurt in this apparent shooting.
01:05And South Yorkshire Police are asking for any information, anyone with information to come forward by calling 101 quoting incident number 1209 of the 11th of August.
01:13So, to sum up there, there was a reported shooting at around 11.30pm last night.
01:17That is Monday, 11th of August, yes.
01:21And so far it appears no one has been hurt, but there's a very large police scene here today.
01:25I've seen a lot of cars try to come down here through Hind House Crescent and just have to stop at the e-cord and turn around.
01:30It's going through a lot of journals and a lot of footpaths behind us as well.
01:34Like a very large amount of this Wednesday estate has been taped off of today.
01:38And really, no one seems to know anything outside of what the police have just put out.
01:42I've spoken to a lot of residents who said they woke up and just found it like this one.
01:46So, a lot of questions circulating.
