"Fighter in the Wind" (Korean: 바람의 파이터) tells the story of Choi Bae-dal, a young Korean man who dreams of becoming a fighter pilot during World War II. He stows away to Japan, where he faces discrimination and hardship as he trains to become a martial artist. The film explores his journey of self-discipline and determination as he strives to prove himself in a foreign land.
It is based on the Japanese book Karate Baka Ichidai which is a fictionalized account of Mas Oyama, the creator of Kyokushin Karate.
