00:37many residents have expressed hopes that the U.S. West Coast state can play a historic role.
00:44I'd hope to have them come to a better resolution, figure things out,
00:50be able to talk to each other in a reasonable manner,
00:54because obviously it affects me and it affects everybody in the United States, but we'll see.
01:01Well, it'd be neat for both of these leaders to be communicating together to somehow work out this not having a war

01:50days before U.S. President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin are set to meet.
01:56A map from Ukraine's open-source intelligence project called Deep State shows Moscow's troops pushing towards a highway in the Donetsk region.
02:08Russia has been trying to advance in this area for months, endangering a key Ukrainian logistics route.
02:15The U.S.-based think tank the Institute for the Study of War said it would be premature to call the sudden push a breakthrough.
02:22However, it warned that Moscow's troops were likely to seek to push further in the area in the coming days.
02:31The development comes as Putin and Trump are set to meet in Alaska on Friday as Trump pushes for a ceasefire.
02:38Despite the truce talks, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Moscow was preparing the redeployment of troops and forces to launch a new offensive on Ukraine.
02:47The leaders of 26 European Union member states, all bar Hungary, rallied behind Ukraine ahead of talks between U.S. President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart on Friday.

03:08European leaders said they welcomed Trump's efforts,
03:10but highlighted that Ukraine's territorial borders should be respected in a ceasefire agreement.
03:17Let me remind you that at the same time, the EU is extremely active in all fronts to support Ukraine and put Ukraine in a position of strength.
03:27The only leader that refused to sign the agreement was Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
03:33Orban said that he refused to sign the statement because European leaders were not invited to the meeting in Alaska.
03:39He called for them to initiate an EU-Russia summit instead to give Europe a seat at the negotiating table.
03:45Hungary has in the past rejected motions calling for joint European military or financial support for Kyiv.
03:54All eyes will be on the U.S. city of Alaska this week when U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin meet in the largest U.S. state to see if a deal can be struck to produce peace in Ukraine.
04:08Although the exact location of their meeting in Alaska has not been released yet, many residents have expressed hopes that the U.S. West Coast city can play a historic role.
04:18Being in Alaska, we're obviously the closest station to Russia, so if there's every dispute, then we'll be sent over.
04:26I'm an airborne scout, so that would be very possible, but we'll see what comes of it.
04:36Well, it'd be neat for both of these leaders to be communicating together to somehow work out this not having a war, because no one doesn't want to have a war.
04:50Friday's meeting only involves Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, meaning Ukraine is not included, something that may be a historic moment or a breaking point.

05:28At least 31 others were killed en route to eight collection points, with eyewitnesses saying Israeli troops opened fire on crowds of people.
05:37It's the latest in a series of fatal incidents involving the Israeli-backed U.S. aid operation run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.
05:45Israel says it only fires warning shots and does not shoot at people, while the GHF claims that no fatal incidents have occurred on their premises.
05:53The U.S.-Israeli aid scheme was announced as a replacement for traditional U.N. systems, which have been facing major restrictions to their operations.
06:02Many have criticized the initiative, which came after Israel accused Hamas of looting U.N. aid, slamming it as insufficient.
06:10The U.N. says more than 90% of Gaza's 2 million population are at risk of famine.
06:14Gaza's health ministry also said five more people died from starvation on Monday, bringing the total famine-related deaths to 227, including 103 children.
06:26On Tuesday afternoon, the U.K. released a joint statement with 27 of its allies, mainly in Europe, condemning the worsening humanitarian suffering in Gaza.
06:35The statement, endorsed by France, Germany and Spain, called on the Israeli government to take immediate steps to alleviate humanitarian suffering.
06:47Norway's Sovereign Wealth Fund has sold its shares in 11 Israeli companies as they criticize the country over its conduct of war in Gaza.
06:55The management of the fund, which invests profits from Norway's oil and gas, said in a statement that by the end of June, they had investments in 61 Israeli companies.
07:03The fund noted that it decided to sell all its shares in 11 of those firms that are not in the Norwegian Finance Ministry's Equity Benchmark Index.
07:14They also added that they will fire all external managers running their investments in Israel and run those operations in-house.
07:21Top-level management of the fund said the decision was taken in response to what they called an extraordinary humanitarian crisis in Gaza
07:28and acknowledged that maybe these measures came too late.
07:31The fund says it will continue to strengthen its due diligence
07:57and intensify monitoring of investments in Israeli companies.
08:04A wildfire near the Spanish capital of Madrid has killed one person and prompted hundreds to evacuate.
08:12The blaze in Tres Cantos burned through two housing complexes,
08:16with one man dying from burn injuries after being evacuated by helicopter to a nearby hospital.
08:21The fire advanced around six kilometres in just under 40 minutes, a regional minister said.
08:29Smoke from the flames threatened the nearby town of San Sebastián de los Galles,
08:33where residents were warned to close their windows and doors and stay away from the vicinity of the fire.
08:38Firefighters were eventually able to contain the fire by Tuesday morning after deploying at least 14 teams and three helicopters.

09:13With her granddaughter on her lap, Monique enjoys a trip to the North Sea in a beach wheelchair.
09:23In Belgium, eight beaches are accessible to people with reduced mobility, such as here in Ostend.
09:28The Flemish Agency Inter launched the Sunsea Carefree Program in 2006 to make the Belgian coast accessible to all.
09:55Its founder emphasizes two essential elements, providing adapted infrastructure and equipment, but also assistance.
10:03There is an accessible environment that's important, with also facilities like beach wheelchairs,
10:09but also about a parking place that is accessible and nearby, a tram stop that is accessible and nearby.
10:16We have changing places, accessible toilets, showers, those things that everyone needs when they go to the beach.
10:25But the environment is important, but also the assistance.
10:30If necessary, assistance can push users into the sand and accompany them while they swim.
10:35We also assist, go with the people that have never, also never been to the sea.
10:42Inside, we go, the yellow thing is like a floating device, and then we assist them,
10:49and then we go with the waves a little bit, and it's really fun.
10:53The service, which is completely free for users, is mainly funded by the municipalities.
10:58Accessibility to the seaside is a public service for everyone and a tourist asset, according to the city councillor from Ostend.
11:06This summer, we have 372 unique people who use this feature, this possibility here in Ostend.
11:15And as we've seen in the numbers, only 100 are coming from Ostend or Flanders.
11:21So the majority is from outside of this city.
11:24So I think it's very important for our tourism.
11:26Other solutions exist in Europe.
11:29On certain parts of the Greek, Italian, and Cypriot coasts, users can swim independently thanks to automated sea track walkways.
11:37In France, the handy plage label lists beaches that are accessible to people with reduced mobility.
