00:00So I kind of want to talk a little bit more about Scottie's front nine and just what what he was accomplishing on the front.
00:06It was so good.
00:08He had every single fairway on the front nine and just had the only missed shot that he had was on the fifth hole.
00:15He had a seven iron right of the green doesn't get it up and down.
00:18Yeah. But other than that, it was it was virtually it felt like a flawless ball striking performance on the front nine.
00:26And he had hit 50 percent of his fairways pretty much for the entire week.
00:30And he had started out the round hitting every single fairway till the 12th hole.
00:35And he missed the 12th and the 15th fairway. And that's, I believe, all he missed.
00:39Just absolutely put on a stripe show off the tee today.
00:42And so he was giving himself good look after good look.
00:47And he missed about a six footer on the sixth hole for birdie coming off of a bogey at the fifth.
00:54Makes a great birdie at seven. Misses a putt from inside of 10 feet at the eighth hole and the ninth hole.
01:03So we're talking about like four strokes there when we talk about, all right, you know, how did Scottie not get in this playoff?
01:09It's like he he had plenty of opportunities in that stretch of holes.
01:14I don't think he was hitting necessarily bad putts.
01:17They were just in that range that weren't they weren't gimmies.
01:20I think the puttied one back is the birdie putty at its six that he missed.
01:23But the other ones, I mean, they're, you know, from eight to 12 feet.
01:28Those those aren't putts you're supposed to make, you know, every single time you'd like to make more than you miss.
01:34But today it felt like he just didn't make enough of them.
01:37Well, like eight foot's that PGA Tour break even mark. Right.
01:42And I just was curious to pull up the stats.
01:44Fifty eighth in a field of 70 today in strokes game putting.
01:47I'm trying to remember because I know they've had a couple of different iterations of this is is the current working relationship between Ted and Scotty is that Scotty does all the reading and only calls in Ted when he needs help.
01:58Yeah, pretty much.
01:59OK, yeah.
02:00So so maybe you don't attribute as much of that on reads to Ted's absence, but I don't know.
02:04Potentially a factor, I guess.
02:06Yeah, he was.
02:07Brad Bain was not reading putts today.
02:09But he he came to me on the 17th behind the green and just like, hey, what's up?
02:14What are you doing?
02:15It's just he's like, I would have been going on over here.
02:19He was like, he basically said, like, I would have putted this thing a long time ago.
02:23I was like, man, I love that.
02:26I love your vibe right now.
02:27That's so good.
02:28That's so good.
02:29So so, you know, obviously has opportunities could have taken it deeper.
02:33But that's the story of Scotty, you know, since we've started the show.
02:35Right.
02:36It's like if he puts, you know, latter half of the field, you know, below average, if
02:41you want to call it that he should be right around top five, you know, shot ends up shot
02:46off the playoff.
02:47So and so, yeah, to pick it back up wherever you'd like to with the J.J.
02:51Scotty group.
02:52Well, let's see.
02:53We go to the back nine with J.J.
02:55making birdies on eight and nine.
02:57And so all of a sudden the the momentum in this group is is it feels like these two are
03:03going to be the guys that that the group behind is going to be chasing.
03:07So, yes, I'm getting a pep on my step.
03:09They both have the fairway at 10 and Scotty makes birdie at 10.
03:14We go to 11 and Scotty just barely just barely graces the edge on the 11th putt.
03:24But then 12 is interesting, too.
03:26This is the first time I felt like that Scotty maybe would have missed Ted today at that
03:31point. OK, it didn't matter who was carrying Scotty's bag because it was it was just so
03:37point and shoot.
03:38He was hitting it so well and really was putting it fine.
03:41Just not getting anything to go in.
03:43But 12, he misses it left and some fiery rough over there.
03:46You miss a fairway 12.
03:47It just becomes kind of chaotic trying to figure out how to get the ball in the green and caught
03:52a terrible break, lands in the bunker, rolls up against the lip, comes back into his divot.
03:56So now he's in this half plug lie and he gets it up and down.
03:59And so I'm all of a sudden thinking, all right, here's Scotty.
04:05There he goes again.
04:06And meanwhile, I'll have to say this because when he gets to 13, he hits a shot just left
04:12of the flagstick.
04:13He was addicted today to trying to fit the golf ball between the edge of the green and
04:19the flagstick.
04:20And what I mean by that is if the pin was on the left side and there was four yards left
04:25to the pin, he's like, hold my beer.
04:28I'm going to get this in between the edge of the green, the flag.
04:31And he did that.
04:32It seemed like a stretch of like seven straight holes.
04:35Like, how is he going to, how does he keep doing this?
