Leeds travellers leading the way on holiday insurance

00:17health. Across England, travel-associated chikungunya infections are rising, with 73

00:23cases recorded between January and June, compared to 27 cases last year. The majority of cases

00:29were linked to travel in Sri Lanka, India and Mauritius. Chikungunya is transmitted by mosquitoes

00:35and can cause fever, joint pain and rashes, with symptoms sometimes lasting months or

00:40even years. Vaccines are available privately in the UK after assessment by a healthcare

00:45professional. Travellers should use repellent, cover exposed skin and sleep under insecticide

00:51treated nets. Mosquitoes capable of transmitting the virus are not established in the UK, so

00:57there's no risk of onward spread.
