00:00Just tell me what happens and then I'll try and do it without you telling me.
00:05Welcome to Ms. Mojo. And today, we're counting down our picks for the iconic moments when
00:11wholesome, usually non-confrontational celebrities broke their stereotype by doing or saying
00:17something blunt, aggressive, or combative. Ariana Grande has set off a police investigation.
00:25Number 10. JoJo Siwa. After getting her showbiz start in Dance Moms, Siwa burst out on her own
00:34with massive, colorful hair bows as she released music and worked with Nickelodeon. Before her
00:402024 rebrand, she was a child favorite celebrity who promoted the LGBTQIA plus community she was
00:47a part of.
00:55To be in that category at 18 is just insane.
01:00However, in 2022, Siwa stripped away the family-friendly fun by starting a public feud with Candace Cameron
01:06Beret. She called Beret the rudest celebrity she'd met on a TikTok video after she snubbed
01:12her for a photograph years earlier. Beret immediately released a video claiming she was shocked and
01:18had contacted Siwa to resolve the issue.
01:21What happened? And she said, ah, you know, I didn't think this was gonna go viral and they were gonna
01:27pick that up. It was such a, just a silly TikTok trend.
01:30However, several months later, Siwa publicly criticized Beret again, this time for defending, quote,
01:37traditional marriage.
01:38I can't believe after everything that went down just a few months ago, that she would not only
01:44create a movie with intention of excluding LGBTQIA plus, but then also talk about it in the press.
01:51Number 9. Drew Barrymore
01:53With a difficult childhood, Barrymore morphed into one of Hollywood's biggest stars, eventually
01:59landing her own talk show in 2020. In a world that often showcases the negatives, Barrymore's
02:05program was a light in the darkness with its feel-good factor.
02:08Ah! It's happening! It's real! Welcome to the Drew Barrymore show! It's Monday! My favorite
02:17day! Because we're here to rebrand Mondays. Boy, did they get the short end of the deal.
02:22However, in 2023, she showed a much different side to herself. As the WGA strike was taking place,
02:30Barrymore announced her show would continue without unionized writers.
02:33You know, the Drew Barrymore show is a WGA signatory. It means that it employs WGA writers,
02:39and those writers are currently on strike.
02:41This resulted in audience members wearing pins supporting the strike being kicked out of the show.
02:47Understandably, for crossing the picket line, the backlash was severe as she was dropped from
02:52hosting awards ceremonies.
02:53It's not who I am. I've been through so many ups and downs in my life,
02:59Barrymore released an apology video, which was later deleted, and took her show off the air
03:07until the strike ended.
03:09I have no words to express my deepest apologies to anyone I have hurt, adding,
03:14we really tried to find our way forward, and I truly hope for a resolution for the entire industry
03:19very soon.
03:21Number 8. Fred Rogers
03:22With his iconic Mr. Rogers neighborhood showcasing his wholesome and calm persona,
03:28Rogers was not only educational, but also challenged societal prejudices throughout his career,
03:34especially when racial segregation was still in effect.
03:37Around the country, they didn't want black people to come and swim in their swimming pools.
03:41Early in his national career in 1969, we saw a different side of Rogers,
03:51as he spoke at the Senate Subcommittee on Communications to oppose a funding cut for PBS's creation.
03:57It was just as if, you know, we shall now open the door, you have passed the test, you may come in.
04:04While still speaking in his soft, lyrical way, Rogers was more stern than usual,
04:09as he issued facts and discussed the show's efforts in promoting mental health.
04:14Yet, it was his impassioned quoting of his song,
04:17What Do You Do With The Mad That You Feel, that really won people over,
04:20both in the testimony and those watching at home.
04:23Know that there's something deep inside that helps us become what we can.
04:31I think it's wonderful. I think it's wonderful.
04:35Number 7. Simone Biles
04:37Do you ever want to scream, just like, come on, come on, guys, stop.
04:43No, I just cry.
04:45Not only is she a trailblazer in the realm of gymnastics,
04:48winning several medals wherever she competes,
04:51but Biles has also been one in many other areas,
04:54including promoting mental health and battling stigma against people with ADHD.
04:59A little bit is being taken more seriously, so I feel like we're breaking the stigma there,
05:04but there's still so much talk and work that needs to be had on mental health.
05:09And in 2017, we saw her responding to a sexist comment on TV in a brutal fashion.
05:15After performing on Dancing With The Stars and listening to the judges' comments,
05:20host Tom Bergeron stated to Biles that he was waiting for her to smile during the compliments,
05:25but she didn't.
05:26Without missing a beat,
05:28Biles took a stand and struck back with the simple phrase,
05:31Smiling Doesn't Win You Gold Medals
05:33Backstage, Simone showed us her smile.
05:36Hi!
05:37I'm just a happy person.
05:39Number 6.
05:40Helen Mirren
05:41Long before she was an Oscar winner advocating for people to take vaccines
05:45and embrace themselves as they age,
05:48Mirren was an emerging actor in the industry.
05:50In 1975, she appeared on Michael Parkinson's self-titled UK talk show.
05:55However, instead of it being a cozy chat,
05:58it took a strange turn as he kept bringing up her appearance.
06:02Well, your physical attributes.
06:04You mean my fingers?
06:06No, I meant your...
06:08Come on, spit it out.
06:11It got worse when Parkinson wondered if her, quote,
06:14physical attributes, alluding to her chest,
06:17held Mirren back as a serious performer.
06:20Shocked by the line of questioning,
06:22the actor took no prisoners as she defined them as boring questions.
06:26The performance and the play and the living relationship
06:29between all the people on stage and all the people in the audience
06:33overcome such boring questions, really.
06:38Boring questions?
06:39Pretty boring in the end, yeah.
06:40Later, Mirren described Parkinson as a, quote,
06:43sexist old fart.
06:45In 2019, after the interview went viral again,
06:48Parkinson refused to apologize for it.
06:51A few years ago, Mirren called Parkinson a sexist old fart.
06:55For his part, Parkinson was knighted 16 years ago
06:58for his services to broadcasting.
07:01Number five, Tom Hanks.
07:03Hollywood made the right decision
07:05when they selected the wholesome Hanks
07:06to portray the exemplary Fred Rogers
07:09in 2019's A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.
07:12After all, he's well known for his niceness and activism.
07:15It made me very angry.
07:19There was always something you can do
07:22with the mad that you feel.
07:26However, when it comes to his wife, Rita Wilson,
07:28the kind gloves come off.
07:31In 2022, the couple were leaving a restaurant in New York City
07:34when a bunch of fans descended on them for photos and questions.
07:38Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson were making their way
07:40toward a waiting SUV
07:41when they were mobbed by fans seeking autographs.
07:45As a group focused on Hanks,
07:47they walked right into Wilson, tripping her up.
07:50Hanks stopped immediately,
07:52yelled expletives at the fans
07:54as he told them to back off.
07:55To make it even more intimidating,
07:57he then stared daggers at them before walking away.
08:00But being a huge star is not without its challenges.
08:04And one of them came last night
08:05when the actor, out to dinner with his wife, Rita Wilson,
08:08lost it when someone in the crowd nearly knocked her over.
08:11Number four, Anne Hathaway.
08:14With a reputation for always being professional and polite,
08:17it's amazing Hathaway is still that way,
08:19considering the number of personal questions
08:21she gets about her appearance.
08:23In 2012, she spoke with Glamour Magazine
08:25about her body insecurity.
08:28A year before,
08:29as she was promoting her work in 2011's One Day,
08:32Chris Van Vliet chatted to her on the press junket.
08:35He brought up the images of her in the catsuit
08:37as Catwoman for The Dark Knight Rises.
08:39Sit-ups, tricep curls, and, you know...
08:42Like, you're in phenomenal shape right now.
08:44After briefly asking about her exercise routine,
08:47Van Vliet bluntly asked how much weight
08:50Hathaway had lost for the role.
08:52The actor was shocked.
08:53You did not just ask me that question.
08:55What a forward young man you are.
08:58Hathaway took away her wholesome image
09:00to admonish him for asking that.
09:03By the end, she'd become diplomatic again.
09:05All right, thank you very much.
09:07I'm sorry if I offended you.
09:08You didn't at all.
09:09I'm just messing with you.
09:10From child star to pop musician to actor,
09:16Grande's Nona was there.
09:18Even when the singer won at the 2016 AMAs,
09:21her speech spoke about her grandmother.
09:23Her Nona inspired her look for the Focus video.
09:27Actually, I was sitting opposite my Nona,
09:30and I was like, Nona, I love your white hair.
09:32It's so beautiful.
09:33On top of that,
09:34Grande was praised for helping to raise millions
09:37for the victims and family of those
09:39who attended her Manchester, England gig in 2017
09:42that was violently attacked.
09:45With that in mind,
09:46Grande behaved really out of character in 2015.
09:49While at a store in Lake Elsinore, California,
09:52she was recorded licking donuts
09:53and didn't even buy them.
09:55The pop diva isn't jumping up and down for joy today.
09:58She's in crisis mode with her social media pages
10:01blowing up with negative reaction.
10:04Then when an employee came out with a tray of pastries,
10:07Grande dismissed the food
10:08and declared she hates Americans and America.
10:12After the footage spread,
10:13Grande apologized for her behavior in a video.
10:16She caused a huge uproar
10:18after she was caught on surveillance tape
10:20apparently licking a donut.
10:23I was so disgusted with myself.
10:25I wanted, I like shoved my face in a pillow
10:27and wanted to disappear.
10:28Number two, Queen Elizabeth II.
10:31Through most of her long reign as monarch of the UK,
10:34especially in the later years,
10:36Elizabeth was an honorary grandmother to the world.
10:40Do you know that I haven't watched
10:41from a pair of binoculars for ages?
10:43Look at it, touring with tears.
10:46She took great effort to meet as many people as possible.
10:49As such, it's no surprise that in 2018,
10:52it was found that a third of Britons
10:54had met or seen Elizabeth in person.
10:57However, beyond her wholesome,
10:58sharing sandwiches with Paddington image
11:01is a dry and cutting sense of humor.
11:04While attending the 2021 G7 conference
11:06at England's Eden Project,
11:09Elizabeth was having her photo taken
11:10with the world leaders.
11:12She then mentioned, quote,
11:14are you supposed to be looking
11:15as if you're enjoying yourself?
11:17Bringing laughter from the leaders and photographers.
11:19Are you supposed to be looking
11:21as if you're enjoying it?
11:23Yes, it would be definitely.
11:25Before we unveil our top pick,
11:28here are a few honorable mentions.
11:30Adele.
11:31Her heartfelt songs vanished
11:32when Adele yelled at a fan
11:34for recording her gig with a tripod.
11:35Be fair, bringing a video camera
11:37and a tripod,
11:38which seemed to be the case there.
11:40That's pushing it a little bit.
11:42Amy writing a big shout out to Adele
11:43for telling the woman
11:44to stop recording all of her show completely.
11:46It's not a DVD.
11:47There was a huge crowd outside the venue.
11:49Kiki Palmer.
11:50Teased for being wholesome,
11:52Palmer admonished Wendy Williams
11:54for defending Trey Songz.
11:56But I will say, Wendy,
11:57I would have loved to turn on your show
11:58and saw you be a little bit more compassionate
12:00and less accusatory and ridiculatory.
12:02I couldn't.
12:03Why, girl?
12:04Because the gag is you wasn't there.

12:16make sure you go into your settings
12:18and switch on notifications.
12:21Number one, Ian McKellen.
12:24They'd arrived.
12:24You didn't see them?
12:25But he didn't like receiving direction
12:27whilst the scene was going on.
12:29Just watch me walk now.
12:30Watch me walk and see it working.
12:32Best known for his incredible acting career,
12:35promoting and supporting theater,
12:37his activism in the LGBTQIA plus community,
12:40and his adorable friendship with Patrick Stewart,
12:43McKellen is a world treasure.
12:45Typically with a happy and friendly nature,
12:48it's shocking that a film franchise nearly broke him
12:50and made him quit acting for good.
12:53While filming 2012's The Hobbit,
12:55An Unexpected Journey,
12:57McKellen had to be in front of a green screen,
12:59by himself,
13:00to show the height difference
13:01between his character Gandalf and the others,
13:04such as The Hobbits and Dwarves.
13:06If you tell me what to do,
13:07then I do it.
13:09And of course,
13:10what you do isn't always expressed on your face.
13:12And I...
13:12So you say angry,
13:14and I go angry,
13:15and I'd rather be angry inside.
13:17Do you know what I mean?
13:18He burst into tears from the isolation
13:20as he uttered that this wasn't why he became an actor.
13:23It's heartbreaking to know
13:24that this beloved performer was so upset.
13:27Actually, you need to be cued for that,
13:29otherwise you'll never know when it's gonna happen.
13:30And he goes,
13:31well, yes, of course,
13:32if it's a matter of cuing,
13:33then, uh...
13:34Just talk me to.
13:35It's a matter of timing for the...
13:36Yes, I appreciate that.
13:38I appreciate...
13:38And then you must cue me,
13:39of course, in that case.
13:40Which wholesome celebrity do you think
13:42doesn't have a shady bone in their body?
13:44Let us know in the comments.
13:46Now, if I'm not doing it right,
13:47darling, you must shout out, but...
