00:00What are the most popular EU countries among foreign students?
00:09Almost 1 in 10 students in EU countries comes from abroad.
00:14The latest Eurostat data shows that there are approximately 1.8 million such students enrolled in tertiary courses across the block,
00:23including undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.
00:27Within the EU, Luxembourg has the highest share of foreign students in this category, followed by Malta and Cyprus.
00:35At the other end of the spectrum, Greece, Croatia and Spain reported the lowest rates.
00:42Most foreign students usually come from elsewhere in Europe, but there are some notable exceptions.
00:48For example, students from Asia make up the largest group in Ireland, Finland, Germany and Italy.
00:57African students are the most prominent in France and in Portugal, accounting for 52% and 42% of all foreign tertiary students respectively.
01:09In Spain, the largest rate of foreign students is from the Caribbean, Central and South America.
01:16In the remaining 20 EU countries, the largest group of foreign students is European.
01:22The highest proportion of European foreign students are in Slovakia, Slovenia and Croatia.
