Sopranos star Jerry Adler dead at 96. The actor, producer, and director best known for his role of "Hesh" Rabkin on HBO hit show The Sopranos passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday. Before acting, Adler spent nearly 40 years working behind the scenes on more than 50 Broadway productions, serving as stage manager for the original 1956 production of My Fair Lady . Other than The Sopranos , he appeared on TV as Howard Lyman in The Good Wife and The Good Fight , and Sidney Feinberg on Rescue Me .
