00:00According to InTouch magazine, Beyonce feels overshadowed by Adele.
00:06Welcome to Ms. Mojo.
00:08And today, we're counting down our picks for the industry beefs that were played up in the press.
00:13All of that drama, whatever, all that stuff is like, it's just like so silly.
00:17And a lot of it really came from like the media.
00:20For this list, we're excluding feuds that are obviously fake,
00:24such as Jimmy Kimmel's long-running rivalry with Matt Damon.
00:27Number 10, Green Day and The Network.
00:31There's no hype like self-generated hype.
00:34Punk band Green Day slammed a new wave band called The Network for spreading rumors about them.
00:44Notably, lead vocalist Billy Joe Armstrong accused The Mysterious Band of lying about being a Green Day side project.
00:52If there was beef, it didn't last long.
00:54The Network actually opened for Green Day during a tour in the mid-2000s.
00:58But rumors persisted for years that this little spat was a piece of performance art,
01:03and that The Network was really just Green Day in masks.
01:10Also, the publishing information clearly cites The Man's members as writers on The Network's albums.
01:16So, in effect, they were feuding with themselves.
01:19We're basically an older, less mature Green Day.
01:23And, uh, yeah, we've thrown our seed all around the world, so...
01:28There's gotta be a kid.
01:31Number 9, Coldplay and Crazy Frog.
01:33Signed by the Crazy Frog himself.
01:35We make no enemies here.
01:37Have you met the frog? What's he like?
01:38We've met the frog. He's a bit arrogant, to be honest.
01:40Getting to the coveted number one spot on the charts can take years of hard work and goodwill.
01:45Coldplay was poised to make a huge return in 2005.
01:55Their new single, Speed of Sound, was sure to hit the top of the UK charts.
02:01And then the unthinkable happened.
02:02A ringtone reworked from the Beverly Hills cop theme robbed them of their expected number one spot.
02:09The artist, cited only as Crazy Frog,
02:12was a novelty act that launched a sound that became an early internet meme.
02:19Reports covered the indignity of being beaten by a ringtone,
02:23but Coldplay frontman Chris Martin had fun responding to the so-called chart battle.
02:28He did a lot of promo where he played every pond in Northern Australia.
02:31And he didn't get anywhere.
02:33And so, we used to see him struggling away.
02:35See, and he's naked in his clip as well.
02:38He doesn't just write naked.
02:40He plays naked.
02:41He does his videos naked.
02:42So you want to really be talking to him.
02:44Number 8. Eminem and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.
02:49Slim Shady was known for his aggressive antics, even at award shows.
02:53Triumph the Insult Comic Dog is a hand puppet who was exactly as his name describes,
02:58and who was voiced and puppeted by comedian Robert Smigel.
03:02So when they had a brief, uncomfortable, and apparently unscripted moment
03:06at the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards next to Moby,
03:10an artist Eminem was genuinely beefing with,
03:13it was bizarre.
03:14Eminem actually grabbed the puppet and closed its mouth.
03:17Eminem, come on.
03:19Let's talk to him.
03:21Buddy.
03:22All right, he has his TV timer.
03:27Look at this.
03:29Smigel later said that it wasn't a real fight,
03:31and more like something out of a professional wrestling show.
03:34So Proof knocks my papers over,
03:37and, but he had a smile on his face.
03:39He knew he was in the middle of basically a wrestling sketch.
03:42And, but MTV panicked, cut away.
03:45Eminem would later include Triumph in a 2005 music video.
03:49Number 7. Andy Kaufman and Jerry Lawler
03:52The eccentric star of the classic sitcom Taxi
03:55was revered and reviled for his deep commitment to performance art.
03:59By design, we weren't supposed to know the real Andy Kaufman.
04:02Some of his most famous moments involved wrestler Jerry Lawler.
04:06This was something that I was doing,
04:07and it was no reason to hurt me.
04:08It's a joke, right?
04:09It's not a joke to me.
04:09It's a joke, yeah.
04:10It's not a joke.
04:11Well, it wasn't, it wasn't a joke to me.
04:13Did you laugh after when you were laying in the hospital?
04:14It was a joke then?
04:15No.
04:15Before his WWE days, Lawler wrestled Kaufman
04:19in a highly publicized match that sent Kaufman to the hospital.
04:23These hostilities were put on display for the TV audience
04:26on an episode of Late Night with David Letterman.
04:28Store rigged.
04:29Are you guys really friends?
04:30Was it a scam?
04:31No, not at all.
04:32I couldn't warm up to this guy.
04:33We were cremated together.
04:35He is a wimp.
04:36That's exactly what he thought.
04:38He thought, that's what he thought about wrestling.
04:39He thinks it's all a big joke, a big fix, or whatever.
04:41During their joint appearance, Lawler slaps Kaufman,
04:45who responds by throwing coffee on the wrestler.
04:48But years after Kaufman's death,
04:50Lawler confessed that their longstanding feud
04:52was just a gag between the two.
04:54They were actually friends the whole time.
04:56So we went on and on and on for months, about six months.
05:01And then he calls me one day and says,
05:03hey, you want to do the Letterman show?
05:05And I said, well, let me think about that.
05:07Yes.
05:07Number six, Ariana Grande and Victoria Justice.
05:11It was the moment that launched 1,000 memes.
05:14During a group interview with the cast of Nickelodeon's Victorious,
05:18the cast joked about how Ariana Grande loved to sing.
05:21Victoria Justice's somewhat cutting response that they all sing
05:25is seen as evidence that the two are mortal enemies.
05:28She's a beautiful voice, but it's awesome.
05:30She sings absolutely everything.
05:31She never stops.
05:32That's so true, Liz.
05:33You sing a lot, too.
05:34Like, especially during the whole thing.
05:36That's true.
05:36Yeah, that's true.
05:37Leaving aside the fact that the clip is often edited in a misleading way,
05:42the two insist the rumors that Justice was a bully on set are a media fabrication.
05:47And hopefully now that she's talked about it, I've talked about it,
05:50there's no feud.
05:51We can put this behind us now,
05:53and we can practice what Frozen preaches, my friends, and let it go.
05:56A 2024 social media post of co-stars Justice and Elizabeth Gillies
06:01provoked a warm reaction from Grande,
06:04and it seems that whatever bad blood there was is now water under the bridge.
06:08But the meme is still a classic.
06:10People online, like, fanning those flames and making it this huge, crazy thing.
06:14And, yeah, it's, we're all super supportive of each other,
06:17and it's amazing, and I love Ariana.
06:20Number five, Susan Sarandon and Julia Roberts.
06:23Are you feeling fine?
06:25Yeah, I'm fine. I'm great.
06:26I'm a little bit tired.
06:28I hate when people say that.
06:30Hollywood can be cutthroat,
06:32but sometimes the actors just become collateral damage.
06:36In 1998, two of the decade's most bankable leading ladies
06:40came together to make the tearjerker Stepmom.
06:42Reports that Susan Sarandon and Julia Roberts' butted heads on set were rampant.
06:47They fought those rumors, even when the movie was released.
06:50There was for years these rumors that the two of you were, like, in a thing.
06:54For years, really? Wow.
06:56But years later, while doing press for the aptly titled Feud, Betty and Joan,
07:01Sarandon revealed that the stories of the Stepmom Feud were fiction.
07:05Not only that, they were fiction being peddled by her own PR person
07:09in an attempt to drum up cheap press.
07:12And she had no idea.
07:13That rumor started, and I think we tracked it down to a PR person.
07:19But, of course, people love to hold on to bad news.
07:22Number four.
07:23Oasis and Blur.
07:25After flattening Vic and Bob, with four Brits in the bag,
07:28Blur offered Oasis an olive branch.
07:30I think this should have been shared in the latest.
07:33In 1995, the two hottest bands in British rock music clashed over who would win the battle
07:38of Britpop.
07:39Releasing singles on the same day, the band soon became enemies at war.
07:44Their apparent feud captured the public's imagination.
07:47Each band became a symbol of class and regional pride within the UK.
07:51Their behavior at the Brit Awards helped fan the flames of their presumed tensions.
07:56And the band hit back at Southern Art School Softies Blur.
08:00I like to function all the people.
08:04All the people.
08:06So many people.
08:09While this one isn't totally fake, it began with some heavily massaged media spin
08:14designed to sell newspapers and generate publicity for both acts.
08:18Years afterwards, Oasis's Noel Gallagher and Blur's Damon Alburn have become friends
08:25and collaborators.
08:26No way.
08:27And then we went to the bar and got a drink.
08:28And the first thing we spoke about was how great all that was.
08:33You know, we never mentioned the insults and all that kind of thing.
08:36Still haven't.
08:36Number three.
08:37Adele and Beyonce.
08:39It may not have a lot of lore behind it, but this fictional feud launched what has become
08:43a perennial Wendy Williams meme.
08:45And I don't want Beyonce to be upset with Adele's success, which yes, Beyonce,
08:51she is out succeeding you right now.
08:54The origins seem to be tabloid stories from 2016 about Adele turning down the chance to
08:59collaborate with Beyonce.
09:01Then the stories about Beyonce's alleged jealousy over Adele's success with her third album,
09:0625, picked up traction.
09:08Adele has 16 producers and 16 writers.
09:11Beyonce has almost 100 producers and writers.
09:16I know!
09:18It makes you say, well, what do you do?
09:19Even if we didn't have proof of the pair's longstanding public adoration of one another,
09:24neither rumor sounds particularly believable.
09:27Unfortunately, now we can't stop dreaming about what an Adele-Beyonce collaboration would
09:31even sound like.
09:33My artist of my life is Beyonce, and this album for me, the Lemonade album, was just so monumental.
09:41Beyonce, it was so monumental.
09:43Number two.
09:44Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.
09:47They both starred on the Mickey Mouse Club, Kissed Madonna, and had a hand in some of the
09:51most beloved pop songs of the 2000s.
09:54By nature of the industry, it was almost inevitable that Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera would
09:59be constantly compared.
10:00When I was coming up, it was very obvious, you know, me and Britney were definitely,
10:06they're the Britney-Christina, like, you know, considered rivalry thing.
10:11The media started the fire, but stray and mostly inane comments about each other over
10:16the years have fanned the flames.
10:18Aguilera's most damning comment came in 2004, when she compared Spears to trailer trash.
10:24It's probably not too late, Britney.
10:25You guys should do a song together.
10:27Is that something that you would, do you ever talk to Britney Spears?
10:30Um, you know, I, I, I, hey, I'm down.
10:35As recently as 2021, Spears landed in hot water over what were considered body shaming
10:40comments about her former co-star.
10:43Still, the two seem less like bitter enemies and more like estranged co-workers.

11:05You have the option to be notified for occasional videos or all of them.

11:15Number 1.
11:16Lady Gaga and Madonna.
11:18If we had a word for this alleged feud, it would be reductive.
11:21Um, it feels, uh, reductive.
11:30Is that good?
11:31Look it up.
11:33The Express Yourself singer made a casual yet shady comment about the similarities between
11:37her song and Lady Gaga's Born This Way.
11:40To believe the press, it's been a full-out war between the two ever since.
11:44It's not the first time either pop diva has been rumored to be in a feud.
11:49No matter how much respect I have for her as a performer, I could never wrap my head
11:56around the fact that she wouldn't look me in the eye and tell me that I was reductive
12:03or whatever.
12:04Gaga and Katy Perry were allegedly feuding over releasing singles on the same day, while Madonna
12:10has spoken about the one-sided beef Elton John had with her for many years.
12:14What would your advice be to Madonna this year?
12:16Make sure your lip sync good.
12:17But given their rather tame commentary and their continued compliments toward one another
12:22since, rumors of their feud have been greatly exaggerated.
12:26That I got an email from, uh, her people and, and her, uh, sending me their love and complete
12:32support on behalf of the single, and if the queen says it shall be, then it shall be.
12:38Which of these feuds did you believe was a real thing?
12:41Let us know in the comments.
12:42It is a little frustrating to see how people do love to pit, um, women against each other.
12:47Perfect.
12:52Next.
12:54If you want, thank you.
12:55Bless, uns responsable,jem自 Сер-GBB.
12:56Thank you so much.
12:56What book the name is Simon?
12:58Also, let us know in the story about Robert Vürstens andebake yourself and chevking.
13:02We're also working on the front of you to vaccinate ourselves.
13:04We're starting out.
13:05I love the spine.
13:05We're starting out.
13:05You also have a littleKit of together.
13:06We've got a little bit more.
13:08It's a little tricky.
13:09Ready?
13:10We're starting out.
