00:00Previously on Project Runway Canada,
00:03we will apply your design signature to business wear.
00:07Business wear is not really my forte.
00:10Ehhhhh.
00:11Business wear?
00:12It's a tricky one.
00:14Do you want to win this challenge?
00:16Yeah.
00:17Does it look okay?
00:18I hate you, Sonny.
00:19That's so wonky.
00:21I think I sewed it backwards.
00:23It's sharp, it's very well fitted.
00:30Tailoring does not seem to be your strongest thing.
00:33The winner of this challenge is Sonny.
00:36Jason, you made it to the top three.
00:43Jessica.
00:47Congratulations.
00:48You earned the spot in Fashion Week.
00:51Jean-Beeve, I'm sorry.
00:53You just didn't measure off.
00:56The finalists of Project Runway Canada
00:59will show at Toronto Fashion Week.
01:01And the winner will receive a cover and a feature spread
01:05in Elle Canada magazine.
01:07A professional portfolio photo shoot
01:09courtesy of L'Oreal Paris.
01:11A runway to retail, business mentorship at winners.
01:14And $100,000 to start their own fashion line.
01:21Ready for the runway?
01:3314 designers but only one can win!
01:38All the runway, all the runway, all the runway, all the runway, all the runway, all the runway.
01:52Tempers will flare, hand lines will fly.
01:55All the runway, all the runway, all the runway, yeah, yeah.
02:05Time for the show designers.
02:07Because fashion isn't always pretty.
02:14Congratulations, Jason, Jessica, and Sunny.
02:31You have all earned a spot at Toronto Fashion Week, where you will each show a collection of 12 looks.
02:40You will have six months and a budget of $8,000.
02:45You will take your models from the last challenge with you.
02:48This final challenge will determine the winner of Project Runway Canada.
02:54Your talent has brought you this far.
02:57Now, use that talent to create the best work of your life.
03:03Own it, own it, be proud of everything you show.
03:09I will see you in Toronto in six months.
03:14Good luck, designers.
03:15Ciao.
03:17Bye.
03:18Bye.
03:1912 looks.
03:23I just feel like this experience has really opened me up and it's made me a better designer.
03:32I'm here for a reason.
03:33I'm here because it's meant to be.
03:34I'm going to do the best I can and bring it to Toronto, bring it home.
03:39Jason Myers is going to bring innovation and style and grace, timeless designs.
03:46I came to play hard and I came to win.
03:48I want it bad.
03:50I want to be doing fashion as a business on a large scale.
03:55The Sunny Fawn Collection will be something obviously really sexy, really feminine.
04:00And you'll see the contrast between hard and soft.
04:03It's going to be really confident.
04:05This has been such a life-changing experience and holy crap, top three.
04:12Number three.
04:14Team Jessie has gotten so much better since being here.
04:17I know it'll be boss.
04:20It'll be really awesome.
04:21It'll rock the runway.
04:22I want this.
04:23And I got to bring it all to the table.
04:26This is crazy, huh?
04:29Is this all just a dream?
04:31Yeah.
04:32No, man.
04:33Dream come true, baby.
04:34It's not.
04:35You ready?
04:36Yes.
04:37Let's go.
04:38Let's go.
04:47It's been four months since the designers left Ottawa and it's time for me to check in on their collections.
04:52First up, I'll visit Jason Myers in his studio in Toronto.
04:57Jason Myers.
04:58How you doing?
04:59Very good.
05:00Nice to be here.
05:01Come on in.
05:02So this is my studio.
05:03This is where I live.
05:04This is a beautiful space.
05:05This collection is going to give me an opportunity to show a developed designer.
05:10Let's get into it.
05:11Let's get into it.
05:12Okay, let's go.
05:13Show me some pieces.
05:14Okay.
05:15This piece is a silk chiffon and it has a really nice handle to it.
05:20But maybe the cut in the front is a little too low because of it.
05:23Yeah, it's runway.
05:24You can go as low as you want.
05:25I'm just saying.
05:26With some work.
05:27Yeah.
05:28Could be a great dress.
05:29So with this one, it's a little pencil skirt with little slit side pockets.
05:33Do they see that on the runway?
05:35Well, they're going to because she's going to be walking out with her hands in her pockets.
05:38Okay.
05:39So this piece is one I've developed.
05:41It's in raw silk.
05:42The strap, I just kind of designed this strap to go.
05:45It's going to go on the side of the arm, but it's not really a strap for anything to hold anything up.
05:52This is my style and what I've developed my personal brand to be is like a cocktail kind of dress, LA kind of feel, right?
06:00I think you've got some great design ideas, but I guess I'm not seeing new enough things.
06:06I want more from you.
06:08I don't see runway pieces.
06:10I expect him to give me his honest opinion on how he felt that this collection was developing, but I've really taken a lot of pride in sewing these samples together.
06:19I think you think I'd pick on you.
06:21Maybe there's a reason because I think there's more inside of you than what you're delivering.
06:25I think it's a matter of tough love, but you know, at the same time, you know, I don't know, sometimes tough love sucks, you know?
06:31If that's what it takes for you to realize what needs to go down the runway, Jason, good.
06:39Let me continue to pick on you because I care.
06:42It's either going to smash the runway and be a huge success or everybody's going to hate it.
06:46And I'm willing to take that chance because I have so much confidence in myself that it's going to be a showstopping collection.
06:52So with all that being said, I want to give you a better idea of where my inspiration comes from and my family is having a little get together.
07:00And you know what?
07:01Let's go.
07:02Bailey loves a family party.
07:03Let's go.
07:04Hi, everybody.
07:05So many people.
07:09My confidence has to come from the people around me.
07:15I think you are what you surround yourself with and the people around me fully support and are proud of me.
07:22And I think that's what I'd really take my confidence and my drive and my focus from.
07:27This is my beautiful girlfriend, Avina.
07:28Hi, Brian.
07:29And you are beautiful.
07:31You put up with this guy?
07:32And it's my pleasure.
07:33Oh, you're so sweet.
07:35This is my grandma.
07:38This is head to toe Jason Mars.
07:40Look at this.
07:41We're very, very proud of them.
07:46You know, I tell my kids to follow their passion and the rest is history.
07:51Growing up in Hamilton and going to like the school I went to, it was never an option for me to be a fashion designer.
07:57I remember the second year I was like financial planning and it was, I remember looking at Toronto Fashion Week and I was thinking, I can do this.
08:06I can, I can make stuff better than that.
08:08We believe in his dream.
08:09We're standing behind him 100%.
08:12My mom is like my living guardian angel.
08:14She, she's my inspiration.
08:17She's my biggest supporter.
08:20You know, when we were young, it was tough.
08:22She raised my sister and I, you know, working two, three, four jobs.
08:26She's just an amazing, amazing woman and I owe everything I have to her.
08:29I just want to thank everybody for coming and this is so important to me.
08:33And without all your love and support, then I wouldn't be who I am or where I am today.
08:41I might come back next weekend.
08:42It was pretty good today.
08:49Next stop, Jessica Biffy at her family's home just outside of Toronto.
08:59Hi!
09:00Jessica Biffy!
09:01How are you?
09:02Good, how are you?
09:03I'm good, close the door.
09:04It's cold and perfect.
09:05It is cold and perfect.
09:06Come on in.
09:08I'm excited to see Brian because he gets to meet, you know, the people that made me, the lady I am today.
09:15It's my mom.
09:16Nice to meet you.
09:17Nice to meet you.
09:18You're Irene?
09:19Yes, I'm Irene.
09:20Angela.
09:21Nice to meet you.
09:22My parents are both immigrants to Canada.
09:24My dad is from Italy.
09:25My mom is from the Azores Islands, which is part of Portugal.
09:29Brian got to see some good old cooking.
09:32It's homemade, the whole thing, so.
09:35Very good.
09:36Jessica is very talented, in my opinion.
09:39Yeah, she is.
09:40She is.
09:41Where do you think that talent came from?
09:45I don't know.
09:47When I saw my first runway show, I was, I don't know, I was little.
09:50And then I saw the person come out at the very end, and I was like, this is a job.
09:54Look at all these people clapping for that person.
09:56Yeah, I'm going to be that person.
09:59In high school, I took a fashion class, and I fell in love with it.
10:03I was like, this is where I need to go.
10:05My parents saw me never sleep when I was in school.
10:09They saw the struggle of what it was like to graduate.
10:12What are your hopes and dreams for Jessica?
10:15Our hopes are that she succeeds in whatever she decides to do in her life.
10:20In her life?
10:21She deserves it.
10:22Good answer, Mom.
10:23Yeah, she deserves it.
10:25I get very emotional when I talk about her.
10:32So, here's to Jessica Biffy.
10:33Here's to Jess.
10:34Yeah.
10:35Project One Way Canada?
10:36Yeah.
10:37Good luck, Jessica.
10:38Cheers.
10:40God, I could almost become a Biffy if I wasn't a Bailey.
10:43Making me laugh.
10:48So, this is where all of my magic is.
10:52This is the magic room.
10:53This is the magic room.
10:55I'm excited to hear what is your collection all about.
11:01What's the story?
11:02It's all about glamour meets hip-hop meets classy 1930s.
11:07This is your first time into the public arena.
11:11It's a little nerve-wracking.
11:12It definitely is.
11:13The story has to be really good.
11:15It has to be amazing.
11:17I really want my collection to be the one that they're like,
11:21Jessica Biffy is the new, you know, designer to watch.
11:25This one first.
11:26It's kind of casual.
11:28Like, I have a few casual things in it that I'm dressing up with,
11:31with something that kind of contrasts against it.
11:34Not sure about this.
11:35Okay.
11:36Not sure about the fabric.
11:37I love some of the details on this.
11:39What I don't love about it is the construction.
11:42This.
11:43It's pretty.
11:44It's my death dress.
11:46This could be life or death on the actual model.
11:50What I do love is this.
11:53What I love about this piece is its shape, its subtlety.
11:58Brian really liked my jacket.
12:01Looks nice.
12:02But he had some concerns.
12:05Urban hip hop glamour 30s.
12:11How is that going to come together when it hits the runway?
12:15Way too many ideas.
12:18The one piece that I see that looks powerful is the one of the Judy.
12:22Is the jacket.
12:23The rest of them are weak.
12:24Hmm.
12:25Very weak.
12:26And I need more from you.
12:27This is already out there.
12:29Who cares about this one?
12:30This one's in every, every, every store that there ever was.
12:34That shape, that dress.
12:36You might want to revisit certain things.
12:41Okay.
12:42It's hard to have someone tell you that you need to rethink your design.
12:47But I know he's doing it for a reason and I know that he believes in me.
12:51You have the time to bring it back and to refocus your design.
12:54I'm very overwhelmed right now.
12:56I just need to cry it out.
13:01And then just, uh, I need to, I need to man up.
13:05I need to bring it to the table.
13:11Next on Project Runway Canada.
13:14It's going to be a big surprise.
13:15I love big surprises.
13:17Ready?
13:18Okay.
13:19Voila.
13:22And now it's time to check in with Sunny Fong,
13:25who is working on his collection in Toronto.
13:28Sunny Fong.
13:29Hey, how's it going?
13:30You ready for me?
13:31Yeah.
13:32Okay.
13:33Let's go.
13:34Lots of light.
13:35Good for designing.
13:36It is.
13:37It's perfect, so.
13:38Love it.
13:39And this?
13:40It's the collection.
13:41Why don't we see what's behind this curtain?
13:43Okay.
13:44I hope you're ready.
13:45I'm ready.
13:46It's going to be a big surprise.
13:47I love big surprises.
13:48Okay.
13:49Voila.
13:53Where are the garments?
13:55How long have you had?
13:56I couldn't really start working on it because I was doubting everything I was doing.
14:01Whether it's good enough to win.
14:04Lot of little sketches here, Sunny.
14:06I'd like to see more real garments.
14:08It's only recently that I spent some time and actually put it all together.
14:11What's that about?
14:12This is the garment that inspired the whole collection.
14:15I chose Alexander the Great as my inspiration, mixing Greek and India together.
14:20This is a Greek inspiration.
14:21And the cut of it is sort of reminiscent of sort of a Maharaja's dress.
14:26I'm recycling the vintage fur and I'm cutting it all up.
14:29So you've gone and bought fur coats?
14:31No.
14:32Peeta friendly.
14:33So let's talk about this one.
14:35That's my Shiva's dress.
14:36So this is a muslin.
14:38This is not the actual dress.
14:39No.
14:40But the actual beading I can show you.
14:42Oh yeah?
14:43Yeah.
14:44This is what we have so far.
14:45Who's we?
14:46I say we because my mother beaded.
14:48Your mom is doing your beading?
14:50She's doing my beading.
14:51Wow.
14:52My mom's been sewing and doing bead work since she was 14.
14:56Fashion was not necessarily accepted in my family.
14:59It was, no, you shouldn't do that.
15:01My mom's never really told me that she was proud of me.
15:05If I win Project Runway Canada, I want to hear my mom say, you know, that she's proud of me.
15:09I mean, she may not vocalize it, but I hope this time she might.
15:15There's a lot of sketches here, a lot of planning.
15:24I think you've got amazing silhouettes for runway.
15:27I would like to have seen a lot more garments.
15:29Can you do it?
15:30In terms of execution, it will happen instantly.
15:33I mean...
15:34So you're working under pressure.
15:35I do.
15:36Because you have a lot of pressure on you when I leave here.
15:38I know.
15:39I'm freaking out a bit.
15:41I have nothing other than my mini sketches.
15:44I should know better, but I'm ready to go.
15:47I'm ready to start.
15:48Have you seen this?
15:49What else are we going to do today?
15:50You know what?
15:51I want you to meet my friends.
15:52Let's go meet them.
15:53Let's do it.
15:54Let's go see them.
15:55Okay.
16:00I love my friends.
16:01They're sort of my family more so than my family.
16:04What's going on?
16:05They support me in everything I do, and I love them to bits.
16:09Why don't you meet Brian?
16:10Kenny is my husband.
16:11We've been together for almost nine years.
16:14He was there from the beginning, and it's important that he's there during and even after,
16:20and that's how we roll, you know?
16:22We do everything together.
16:23No biases.
16:24I think his stuff is amazing.
16:25Amazing.
16:26That's why I'm there to support him, you know?
16:28In 2003, I launched my line, Vok.
16:31I showed at Toronto Fashion Week.
16:33I sold in some stores, and then I was 40 grand into that.
16:36It was a lot.
16:37I had to shut it down.
16:39Project Runway was sort of the second chance, and if I don't win, it might be sort of the
16:45end of the road.
16:46And that's it.
16:47The second chance is over.
16:48Guys, I want to say thanks for coming out and supporting me over the years.
16:51Today's the first day back.
17:10It was kind of crazy the last couple of months getting the collection together.
17:17I'm so proud of my collection.
17:18It took me a while to get where it is.
17:21I've been through ups and lows with it, and there's been a lot of long hours put into
17:25it.
17:26You know, I just want to get to the runway.
17:27I'm starting to feel like really anxious about it.
17:29It's like going into something like the unknown.
17:38I sort of fell out of love with my collection after I saw Brian and the hometown visit didn't
17:43go very well.
17:44But then I re-looked at it, and I'm really happy with everything that I've done, and
17:48I'm really excited for people to see it.
17:51No matter what happens, my career is started now, and the whole world is about to be super
17:56different, and it's amazing.
17:58I'm really excited about it.
18:00Hello!
18:01Oh my god, hi!
18:02Hi!
18:03How's it going, babe?
18:04Good.
18:05Seeing Jason, it was really awesome.
18:07I'm really excited to do this again.
18:09Awesome.
18:10This is exciting, man.
18:11I'm excited to see Sunny.
18:12I miss Sunny.
18:13Mm-hmm.
18:14Hello!
18:15Sunny!
18:16Look at you two!
18:17I miss you!
18:18I know, me too!
18:19Jessica and Jason.
18:20Nice to see them again.
18:21Were you working out of your house?
18:22Yeah.
18:23I didn't get the finish, but oh well.
18:24Didn't get it finished?
18:25Yeah, but remember, you're Sunny.
18:26Whatever, you didn't get it finished, that's bullshit.
18:27Being top three was sort of the goal, and now it's winning.
18:28I really want to win it.
18:29I feel, like, really happy and content that we're, like, at this point now.
18:30Dude, we're, like, all winners.
18:31Work room.
18:32Haha.
18:33Work room.
18:34Haha.
18:35Nice.
18:36Okay.
18:37Nice.
18:38Okay.
18:39Nice.
18:40This is my baby doing.
18:41This is my baby doing.
18:42I like this little setup we got.
18:43Yeah, the last minute, the last minute.
18:44I think we've all made a difference.
18:45It's amazing that we're like at this point now.
18:46Dude, we're like all winners.
18:59Work room.
19:00Haha.
19:01Nice.
19:02Okay.
19:03This is my baby doing.
19:07I like this little setup we got.
19:11I like this little setup we got.
19:13I didn't see Jason being in the top three.
19:15When he got kicked off, I thought that was all she wrote for Jason.
19:21Okay, I'm ready for fitting.
19:26I sort of didn't want to look at their stuff.
19:28I wanted to just, you know, be focused on what I was doing for a while,
19:32and then I couldn't help it, but I looked.
19:34And, yeah, wow.
19:36Nice.
19:37Thanks.
19:39There's some competition.
19:41Black and gold, really, Jess?
19:43Huh?
19:44You really had to do the black and gold?
19:45There's brown in there, too.
19:47Jessica's collection looks pretty solid.
19:49I like the chain dress.
19:50That's a cool, creative idea.
19:52Sunny, what are you doing over there?
19:55Sunny, you got to take your stuff out of the bags, man.
19:57I'm dying over here.
19:58Are you?
19:59Yeah.
20:00Do it.
20:01I want to know.
20:03This is pretty.
20:05Sunny's collection is crazy.
20:07I'm walking away now.
20:08You asked.
20:09No, it's cool.
20:10It's cool.
20:11He's got some really amazing pieces, but, I mean, I also feel like I have some really amazing pieces.
20:17I got some animals in there.
20:19I don't know if I'm too much of a fan of those big, like, poofy furs, but I'm definitely not intimidated by either collection.
20:27Ryan.
20:28Welcome back, designers.
20:29Ryan.
20:30Welcome back, designers.
20:32The top three.
20:33Congratulations.
20:35Thanks.
20:36Four days until LG Fashion Week.
20:40You are the most anticipated show of the whole week.
20:45There will be over 1,000 people at this show.
20:49The collections better be good.
20:51So, let's get busy and have a look.
20:54Let's start with you, Jessica.
20:55Okay.
20:58After I left you, you were a little upset with me, weren't you?
21:01Yeah, I had a moment.
21:02Did you?
21:03Cried it out for a couple of nights.
21:05After Brian visited in January, I went back to the drawing board, started from scratch, and came out with a whole new collection.
21:12I did that in eight weeks.
21:14I'm a trigger player.
21:15I like to play under the gun, apparently.
21:18This is not worthwhile unless I'm completely stressed out and want to hurt myself every single day.
21:22This is the piece that I was the most happy with when you were at my house.
21:26This is the opening piece that sort of starts it all off.
21:28This is good.
21:29Let's hold that up.
21:30It looks different on a body because they've got a little back cowling in the back.
21:34Okay, so we've got black and gold.
21:36Got some brown with some gold.
21:38Nice detail.
21:39This is a leather pleated jumpsuit.
21:42Whoa!
21:43Whoa!
21:44Fun.
21:45The color combinations are great.
21:48Black and that gorgeous brown are never boring.
21:51They're forever, so that's good.
21:52I don't think there's anything I can really criticize.
21:55Good luck.
21:57I've never shown at Fashion Week.
21:59Brian's shown so many times, so he knows and I don't.
22:01So, it's nice to have a fresh pair of eyes.
22:03Mr. Sunny Fong.
22:06Compared to what I showed him before, it was basically nothing.
22:10Now that I have a complete collection, I'm actually quite proud of it.
22:13This is the first one that comes up.
22:15And then it's gonna be belted with a snake that I'm working on.
22:18That lovely snake over there.
22:19Yeah.
22:20Nice detail.
22:21It's my gladiator number.
22:22With the first piece.
22:23And my little pleated strip.
22:24It goes over the pants.
22:25I'm giving you a 9 out of 10 on that piece.
22:27It's really beautiful.
22:28Next in line is my elephant dress.
22:29What?
22:30If you look at it, it's an elephant.
22:31Another trunk.
22:32The tusks and the ears.
22:33Next piece.
22:34This is my sorry coat.
22:35It's good.
22:36Nice.
22:37I did sort of a skin tone.
22:38Snake bustier.
22:39Hey, I only did two.
22:40Two is enough.
22:41And this is the toga with the peacock seating.
22:42So that's your finale.
22:43It's a good collection.
22:44I think you've got some stiff competition.
22:45I do agree.
22:46Cool.
22:47When Brian comes around to me, it's sort of a test to see if I actually believe in what
22:53I'm doing too.
22:54So that's your finale.
22:55It's a good collection.
22:56I think you've got some stiff competition.
22:57I do agree.
22:58Cool.
22:59When Brian comes around to me, it's sort of a test to see if I actually believe in what
23:12I'm doing too.
23:13So it keeps you in check.
23:15Jason.
23:16Hello, Brian.
23:17Let's have a look.
23:18Tell me about it.
23:19What's the story?
23:20I want to make everything really wearable.
23:21So comfort and detail is really important to me.
23:24How do you feel comfort in an evening dress?
23:26Evening wear is meant to be dramatic.
23:28The people that aren't dramatic when it comes to evening wear, they become wallflowers
23:31and they don't get noticed.
23:32Absolutely.
23:33But where comfort comes in and comes...
23:34Who cares about comfort?
23:35Well, I mean, I do.
23:36Do you?
23:37Yeah.
23:38Brian and I just butt heads at a few things.
23:39And, you know, he kind of has the final say in that and that's fine.
23:43But then I have the final say in my work.
23:44This is the opening piece, a lace dress.
23:47It's going to be obviously styled underneath with little shorts and a strapless bra.
23:52This is like shoulders for it.
23:54So it can wear like this and I'm showing it off on the runway.
23:57How do you feel about that, Brian?
23:58Nah.
23:59Can I try it on you?
24:00Sure.
24:01Put it on me.
24:02Let's have a look.
24:03Right.
24:04Do you think your head can be weird?
24:05I don't know.
24:06How does it look?
24:07Oh, cute.
24:08Okay, here we go.
24:09God, it's so cute.
24:10How does it look, Jess?
24:11Quirk!
24:12All right.
24:13What if it doesn't look like two cushions on your shoulders?
24:16I'm doing...
24:17It's a little pantsuit.
24:18Little tight pants.
24:19Let me watch your...
24:20Yeah, everything needs to be pressed earlier.
24:22This stuff's not bad.
24:23Some of the pressing is going to make a big difference in this, okay?
24:26This looks good.
24:28Okay, great piece.
24:30Okay, this is a little strapless dress.
24:32It's killer.
24:33And then that's the back.
24:37That's my favorite piece, I think.
24:38It'll be interesting to see that one on.
24:40Ah.
24:41Yeah.
24:42I think you've got some very nice pieces.
24:44Technically, you've got a lot of work ahead of you.
24:46Nothing can go down that runway that is not finished properly.
24:50And if it's not up to snuff, I'm going to be very hard on you.
24:54Some things never change.
24:55You know what, Jason?
24:56I'm here for you as much as I am for them.
24:59Take from it what you want and hit the runway.
25:01And present a winning collection.
25:03Okay?
25:04Yeah.
25:05I don't feel any sense of positive reinforcement.
25:08I could sit here and say some, like, really nasty things how I feel,
25:12but, you know, I was brought up that if I don't have anything good to say,
25:15I don't say anything at all.
25:16So, I just want to kind of get on with it now.
25:21Model casting is a really vital part to the collection.
25:24It can make a mediocre collection look really, really great,
25:27or a really great collection look mediocre.
25:32I want her.
25:34Why do you want the girls I want?
25:36The way I picked my models at the casting was pretty much,
25:39I envisioned them at the show with the hair, with the makeup,
25:42with my clothes on.
25:50Big check mark.
25:51The collection is sort of glamour meets swagger,
25:53so I want someone that's a very confident plant at the end of the runway,
25:57because I really want it to be like, bam, in your face.
26:00Jessica, you want to make your first call?
26:03Ah, Rebecca.
26:04I want Justina.
26:06I want Justina too.
26:07Who do you want that you would?
26:08Well, okay, I want her, so.
26:09I want Irina.
26:10But I also.
26:11Oh, okay.
26:12I take Justina, give Sunny Irina, and you take Rebecca.
26:15How's that?
26:16Yeah, that's cool.
26:17Okay, sweet!
26:18Seeing our new models put on the garments for the first time was amazing.
26:25I mean, they really come to life.
26:27They look really good.
26:28Yeah!
26:29What?
26:30Hi!
26:31Hi, baby girl!
26:32It was really great seeing Alyssa.
26:34She's my girl.
26:35I based two of my pieces around her,
26:38because I want her to open and close the show.
26:40Woo!
26:41Yay!
26:42She looked hot in the gold train dress.
26:45It makes you so happy!
26:47Yay!
26:48Hey!
26:49It is a competition for them as well,
26:51so it's always nice to have someone who's, like,
26:53super enthusiastic about what you're doing.
26:55Get naked?
26:56Sure.
26:57I haven't seen Tori in ages, and I'm like,
26:59I hope she's maintained her, uh, figure.
27:04Looks awesome.
27:06Gorgeous.
27:07I'm excited.
27:09So it's gonna open like this lace dress,
27:11and these are, like, big bras, big shoulders for her.
27:13Okay.
27:14Open dramatic.
27:15It was good seeing Ashley again.
27:17I'm really excited for her to open and close the show.
27:20Oh, it's, like, really delicate.
27:21It was good to see her.
27:22We got it fit, and, uh, I think she's gonna do great.
27:26Designers with me are some very familiar faces.
27:29Eddie and Eric from L'Oreal Paris.
27:31Hello, designer.
27:32We are very happy to be here with you again.
27:34As you know, the winner of Project Conway Canada
27:37will win one portfolio photo shoot by L'Oreal Paris.
27:41Last season, Evan Bedell's portfolio shoot
27:44really showed his beautiful collection for fall 2008.
27:47Now, your photo shoot will include a photographer,
27:50a stylist, and, of course, L'Oreal Paris makeup and hair team.
27:54So we'll see you upstairs.
27:55Hi.
27:56Hi.
27:57How are you?
27:58Good.
27:59Really good.
28:00Do you have ideas for hair?
28:01Oh, yeah, for sure.
28:02Um, so I was thinking of doing that curl that I used to have,
28:04the little roll on the top.
28:05I wanted the hair to mimic the style that I've had throughout
28:09past challenges with my little curl mohawk.
28:11This will all be dried, brushed back.
28:14I like that a lot.
28:15Me too.
28:16A lot, yeah.
28:17My collection is inspired by 1930's Greta Garbo.
28:22Maybe just some very big curls here and then tucked it up.
28:26Like a faux bob?
28:27Yeah, but even shorter though.
28:28It'll look nice with a dress, but even with a collar.
28:31Yeah, I like that.
28:32Awesome.
28:33Okay, good.
28:34Thank you guys.
28:35Good luck.
28:36Makeup.
28:37I was thinking just something really beautiful,
28:38really clean looking, just not too dramatic.
28:40because I really want the clothes to speak for themselves.
28:42That we could do.
28:43It's to put the gold here and I will going from gold to black.
28:49You know what?
28:50Honestly, I'm kind of getting scared because like I said,
28:51I don't want it really dramatic though.
28:52It would be not dramatic at all.
28:54Well, you're saying black on the eyes.
28:56You don't think so?
28:57Yeah, but it's true.
28:58I just don't want big, heavy show makeup.
29:00I don't want to be like...
29:01Yeah, I understand.
29:02We will blend the gold here and we will go with just one touch of black here.
29:07Yeah?
29:08Yeah, I'm seeing it now.
29:09Yeah, I like it.
29:10That looks great.
29:11Thanks guys.
29:12Next, on Project Runway Canada.
29:15Morning designers, meet us on the runway.
29:18We brought in some help.
29:20Oh my God.
29:22This morning at the Rosemont we found a note and it says that we're going to meet Amon and Brian on the runway.
29:35In this whole like Project Runway experience, there's always a little twist.
29:40Hi everybody.
29:41Hi.
29:42Hi.
29:43How did everything go with your model fittings?
29:45Perfect.
29:46Well, the fittings aren't over because there is one more model that you need to fit.
29:52And it's not me.
29:53Come on in.
29:56Designers, meet Cheryl Hickey from ET Canada.
30:01Hello, designers.
30:02Hi.
30:03Cheryl Hickey is the host of Entertainment Tonight Canada.
30:04She goes to the Oscars.
30:05She does a lot of red carpet events.
30:06The amazing news is that Cheryl will be a model in each of your shows.
30:19The bad news is you haven't made her outfit yet.
30:25We got the curveball.
30:28Your challenge is to make an evening gown that Cheryl Hickey could wear to an ET Canada Studio Lounge event at the Toronto International Film Festival.
30:39Oh.
30:40Cheryl Hickey is awesome.
30:41That's cool.
30:42Maybe I can make her a dress when I'm not trying to make my first collection for LG Fashion Week.
30:47It needs to be a cohesive part of your collection.
30:50But I'm going to tell you what works on me and what doesn't.
30:53I like strapless or one shoulder perhaps.
30:57Flowey, sort of romantic.
30:59What I don't like is anything super fitted.
31:03You have two days before Fashion Week to create this extra look.
31:10So, we brought in some help.
31:17Yep, there it is.
31:18Yay!
31:27None of us knew what was going on.
31:29It was just a very Project Runway moment.
31:32Oh my God.
31:41Each of the finalists will get one of you to help them execute the final look.
31:48I think all of us freaked out a little bit.
31:50Made us a little bit anxious.
31:52We will pull names from the button bag.
31:56And Jason, we will pull your helper first.
32:04Brandon.
32:06Hey, hey, hey.
32:07Brandon's back.
32:09I feel like, you know, Brandon and I in the evening where we kind of have similar styles.
32:14Jason seems really excited to have me on this team.
32:17I guess I didn't measure up on the show, but in real life, I'm pretty talented.
32:21Kind of big deal.
32:23Now, who will help Sunny?
32:26Jeff.
32:28Welcome back, Jeff.
32:29I like Jeffrey.
32:30I mean, he's really good at what he does and I trust him.
32:34And finally, who will help Jessica?
32:36I don't think I prayed harder for anything than for Addie's name to get pulled out of that bag.
32:43Let's make that happen.
32:49Kim.
32:50I didn't want to work with him.
32:57She had attacked me twice to my face.
33:01And now I've seen that there's just so much more that she's said about me.
33:05Jessica's skirt looked like somebody vomited up some taffeta and was like,
33:09there's a skirt.
33:10I just want Jessica and Addie to go home.
33:13Did you think it was funny how they said your construction was perfect and it fit beautifully even though your model couldn't breathe?
33:17Because I thought that was funny.
33:23Designers, your helpers will meet you in the workroom.
33:25Let's go, everyone.
33:29F*** me.
33:37F***ing hell.
33:38Jesus Christ.
33:39Mother f***ing.
33:40I'm just really upset.
33:42It's the most important thing I've ever done and have to do with someone that I really don't like.
33:47It's just really hard to hear someone say really hurtful things about you and then have to work with them.
33:53It's just really...
33:54It really sucks.
33:58F***ing hell.
34:00Finishing up the collection was one thing. I was already a little bit stressed out about that given the time that we have.
34:13Now we have to do that, plus create something new.
34:17I just, I wish I'd gotten to choose who I wanted to work with.
34:20I didn't know if Jessica was going to throw up or pass out. It wasn't a comfortable situation.
34:34I think she's probably pissed that she has to work with me. And I think that's understandable because of the circumstances.
34:40So, this is my crap.
34:47Very nice.
34:49Sonny's collection looks really good.
34:51I think we'll be fine together. I'm not worried about it at all.
34:55I don't know what to put together for her. That's the thing, right?
34:57I think at this point to make another garment is sort of difficult.
35:03I spent like several months making sure that, you know, I have a cohesive collection.
35:08And to throw in another one sort of throws it off.
35:11I think we could do something in these tones.
35:12You know what? It's probably either safer just to do a black one.
35:15We do it in cream.
35:16Let's do it in this color because then we don't have to worry about thickness.
35:19Well, maybe I do want to do cream.
35:24This is my collection.
35:25I didn't know what to expect from Jessica.
35:30It's not my taste, but I like what she's done.
35:34It's a dress made of change.
35:35Oh, my God.
35:38Kim's trying to be nicer. So, let's see how that works out.
35:43Oh, this is cute.
35:44Thanks.
35:46Oh, I really like this.
35:47Yeah, it looks really nice on it like opens up and comes on it.
35:50I'm extremely excited to help Jason out for his challenge because
35:54looks like he needs a little help.
35:56A little strapless number.
35:57Okay.
35:58Back.
35:59Okay. Very cool.
36:00Honestly, I was looking through his collection.
36:03Not the strongest.
36:05Like this.
36:06That's killer.
36:07Cheryl Hickey is definitely part of my target market.
36:10You know, she's young, successful.
36:11And then I really liked the bottom idea of that dress you did in your collection.
36:15You know, with the big, those things that the three like balloon out.
36:18Okay.
36:19I was maybe thinking something like that.
36:20Maybe doing a top like this and doing a bottom, you know, somehow gown it out, but
36:24make it detail like that and like a raw silk, right?
36:27In his latest collection, he has this really cool piece and the bottom is kind of like three tiered.
36:32I think that bottom on a top of a gold sequence with a lace overlay is going to be really beautiful.
36:39It kind of gives him a little input on it.
36:41Apparently, I'm making my own dress again from my fall winter 0910 collection for his piece for Cheryl Hickey.
36:47I think it's awkward that he's doing that, but I guess that just shows what kind of designer he is.
36:51Maybe he can't make up his own pieces.
36:53Oh, that's sweet.
36:54I'm excited.
36:55It's good.
37:04Duchess is on the wall.
37:05Back.
37:08I'm here all the time.
37:12So Sonny decided on doing a queen dress.
37:14Looks nice to work with.
37:15Yeah.
37:16It's probably not as white as he's looking for.
37:18They've all got a lot of things left to do.
37:21And that requires more of their attention than just going to a fabric store and picking up some fabric.
37:25Can we do like a two for one deal?
37:27It's for Jessica Biffy.
37:29You don't know Jessica Biffy, but if you did, you would give her two of these meters for the price of one.
37:35Whatever, like I'm here for two days and I'm her partner, whether she wants it or not.
37:40So I'm just going to make the best of it and really like be there for her as like a little support network.
37:46I'm sure she needs that underneath.
37:48That's what she wants.
37:49It's not my decision to tell her what she wants and doesn't want.
37:52$200 of that, please.
37:54It would be excellent.
37:56I'm going fabric shopping for Jason.
37:58Basically, I had to buy him some black depione silk.
38:01Done and done.
38:02Hopefully, I can do my own shopping for my own dresses.
38:05Five minutes?
38:06I got mine in two minutes.
38:08Well, how nice for you.
38:09I know.
38:10I need to find something pretty for myself.
38:12You are here to be helpful.
38:14I'm helping him.
38:15I'm helping him.
38:16Don't be a disturbance.
38:17He's copying my dress.
38:20How do you know he's copying your dress?
38:22He said, you know that dress in your fall 09 collection that I just showed him?
38:25I want to do that.
38:26He didn't say that.
38:27He did.
38:28You're not there to do one of your dresses.
38:32And I want to know if this is happening.
38:35Because it doesn't go down well with me.
38:37If it is not your dress, it has to be Jason's dress.
38:39Well, he's changing the top a little bit.
38:41Don't be crapping me here.
38:43All right.
38:44This is a serious competition and it's not to be that way.
38:47I don't want to get Jason in trouble.
38:49Don't be coming to me later saying it's my dress.
38:51Oh, I'm not.
38:52Well, you just said it to me now.
39:08Who's a baller with a chain and furry thing?
39:11Two days till LG Fashion Week.
39:14I'm really excited and it's been such a long time coming.
39:18And for it to be two days away, it's like a little kid at Christmas.
39:21And you're just like this.
39:22I'm not going to say I'm not stressed because I totally am.
39:24I mean, I haven't started the Cheryl Hickey dress yet.
39:26We're in pretty good shape though, hey?
39:28Just still little alteration-y things.
39:31And then the dress.
39:33Which I'm going to start very soon.
39:39Yeah.
39:42Let's see.
39:45I just thought it would be a funny thing to do.
39:47Giving Brandon a headband that said Jason's Helper.
39:50Oh, well, Brandon.
39:52Yeah, I can't say for sure that I would want Brandon as a helper if I was in the final three.
39:57Jason's Helper, a.k.a. The Bitch.
40:00Oh, Brandon, you're the best bitch ever.
40:04I feel really, really, really fortunate to have Brandon right now.
40:07Just doing like a drapey right now.
40:09I really believe that we can pull off a really, really great piece for Cheryl.
40:12Let's make it work.
40:14You're using the little snips in there?
40:16I am using the little snips in there.
40:17Yeah.
40:18I think Kim is doing a good job.
40:19She's really helping out Jessica.
40:21Yeah, I'm going to start to dress now.
40:22Yeah.
40:23Oh, you already took that apart?
40:24Yeah.
40:25Sweet.
40:26I'm pushing on the front of that other one and tell me if that's okay.
40:28That's good.
40:29Okay.
40:30Yay.
40:31Yeah.
40:32There's a little bit of justice in the fact Kim's like my sewing minion right now.
40:36Yeah, I would say press it a little bit.
40:38I'm pretty sure I have every right to totally be a bitch about it, but I'm trying to be really
40:42nice about the whole thing.
40:44Are you feeling okay?
40:45No, I'm good now.
40:46It's just like it's been so long to get here and just stuff.
40:51Aw, sweetie.
40:52I'm sorry, Jess.
40:54I was a real bitch.
40:55Yeah.
40:56Yeah, I know.
40:57And I do apologize.
40:58I don't have an excuse.
41:00I just feel bad and want to move forward.
41:03Well, you're doing a great job now.
41:04Thanks.
41:05That really sucked and I'm not proud of it, but...
41:08It just didn't bring out the best to everyone.
41:10Well, I just lost my sh**.
41:11I turned into like a raging asshole.
41:14Initially going into working with Kim, I felt like if she apologized to me, I wouldn't care.
41:19But it did mean a lot because I can tell that her whole demeanor has changed.
41:27Do you like hemming?
41:28Buttons, snaps, hemming.
41:30What's the difference?
41:31We all know Sonny is kind of a control freak.
41:34Make it straight.
41:35I'll just go back and make it straight.
41:37But I feel really happy for Jeff.
41:38The challenge that he got eliminated with, he really enforced that he does a lot of delicate
41:42work with hand stitching and then markered up a dress.
41:45It gives him the opportunity to really redeem himself.
41:48Jeff's doing an awesome job.
41:50Um, like his hand stitching is incredible.
41:52It's actually much better than what I've done.
41:55Good job, Mr.
41:57Mr.
41:58I love this job.
41:59Hi everybody.
42:00Hi, Brian.
42:01I'm here to have a look and see what's going on.
42:04Let's start with Jason.
42:05So, Brandon and I have been working on this.
42:06We did like this lace overlay, which I think is really nice.
42:07I edged the...
42:08Did a sketch?
42:09No.
42:10So, what's the bottom fabric?
42:11Yeah.
42:12So, we went with the raw silk on the bottom.
42:13Taper it in and it's gonna like tear down.
42:14So, Brandon, does this look anything like what you were talking about at the fabric store?
42:17Because I'm gonna be honest with you, at the fabric store, I was a little concerned.
42:18This is to put it right on the table.
42:19Brandon was concerned that you were kind of going with one of his dresses from the look
42:20back.
42:21So, what's the bottom fabric?
42:22So, we went with the raw silk on the bottom.
42:23Taper it in and it's gonna like tear down.
42:26So, Brandon, does this look anything like what you were talking about at the fabric store?
42:32Is it gonna be honest with you, at the fabric store I was a little concerned.
42:39This is to put it right on the table.
42:42Brandon was concerned that you were kind of going with one of his dresses from the look
42:47book.
42:48That can't happen.
42:54Oh, me sideways.
43:02This global preview is brought to you in part by Leon's
43:12and this month's No Money Miracle.
43:14On the next Project Runway Canada.
43:17It's down to the final three.
43:18Today's the big dance.
43:20If I don't win, I could call it quits with fashion.
43:22Who has what it takes?
43:23I don't want it to be so good.
43:25You have half an hour and the show is on the runway.
43:28Let's do this.
43:29To become Canada's hottest new designer.
43:32It's unbearable to watch.
43:33There were some hits, but there were quite a few misses as well.
43:36It all comes down to this.
43:37The winner of Project Runway Canada is...
