Steve Bruce issues an injury update ahead of Blackpool's game against Bolton Wanderers

00:00On getting Fletch back, how much could that help Dale Taylor to have a strike partner up there with him this weekend?
00:06Well, look, we know the value of Fletch. We know the value of Ennis.
00:10We've been without them for the last couple of weeks.
00:13And that seems to have, we'll kind of just be without one, we get without two.
00:17So, yes, it seems to be us over the last few weeks.
00:20So it's good to have them back. It's good to have the big players up and fit and available.
00:25That goes for Horsfield too, and especially Fletch.
00:29Top end of the pitch. We know what Fletch can do. So good to see him back.
00:34Yes, Paul, it's hard for any player to be isolated up front when other players are injured.
00:38But Dale Taylor, a new player coming in, he wants to build the ball's relationships and he's not been able to.
00:42Yeah, he's just come in. But again, I think he can only get better.
00:46We've seen him this week a lot better in terms of he's played the games.
00:51He needed them games to play in. He hadn't played a lot in pre-season.
00:55I think he only had 45 minutes. And I think that goes with a lot of the players we've brought in.
01:00You know, they've had a stop-start time in pre-season, haven't played a lot, haven't got a lot of minutes under their belt.
01:07And as I said, it's been good to see them on the training ground this week.
01:13Could Fraser Horsfield be chucked in from the start or is it about just managing his game time?
01:17Well, I'm not going to tell you, but he's trained all week. He's trained all week and he seems to be moving better.
01:24He seems to be over the injury. Let's hope that stays the same. So he's in the squad and available for selection.
01:32Obviously, Malcolm's out of this weekend's game. How long did that injury come in?
01:36He's got an ankle injury. So I would think at least a couple of weeks, I would have thought.
01:43I know international break comes at a good time maybe for him. He can get back in.
01:46But it's been a frustrating first month maybe if he's getting up to speed and then to get a knock back.
01:50Yeah, yeah. I think it's been frustrating for everybody who we've brought in.
01:55You know, when I'm looking around at the board and that, you know, we've picked up a couple of injuries.
01:59One to Danny Emery in particular, as I said, and a lot of players who we've brought in haven't had a lot of minutes.
02:06Emil is that one too. So he comes into the equation better for training the last two, three weeks and the half an hour or so he got last week.
02:16Against Mansfield and Plymouth, you're named the same starting XI.
02:19So are you going to roll the dice? You know, obviously opportunities for other people after two disappointing performances.
02:25Well, you just have to wait. I'm not giving anything away with it.
02:28Yeah, we'll see. But I would imagine there'll be a couple of changes, that's for sure.
02:35We've got the international break coming up. How important is it going to be to give a performance that, you know, you can be proud of?
02:42The supporters really enjoyed watching their team a week ago, two weeks ago against Huddersfield.
02:47We have to repeat that of what we produced that day.
02:51To beat them with 10 men for an hour was excellent.
02:55So, you know, we've had a disappointing start. There's no question about that.
03:00But I am convinced that we will get better.
03:03We've brought in eight new outfield players, seven or eight, and they need a little bit of time to get some minutes under their belt and get ready.
03:13But I do believe we've got the makings of a very decent team.
03:17Yeah, you've got the confidence it will come good. Is Huddersfield an example of what you are capable of?
03:23It's a little bit. But as I said, for one reason or another, I don't think I've picked my strongest team or hasn't been available to me.
03:30So that's the way it's been. That's the frustration for everybody concerned.
03:34You know, it's been difficult to get players who've not had a big pre-season up to speed.
03:41So the more we train with them, the more they're with us, the more beneficial that can be towards them.
03:48This week, yourselves and about eight other clubs have been linked with Armando Darborough from Chesterfield.
03:53Is he a player of interest?
03:55Well, he's a very, very decent player. I'm not going to talk about anybody's players, Amos.
03:59I think that would be rather rude of me. But he's a player we like, that's for sure.
04:04Obviously, you can play on the wing. I know you've brought in two wings already.
04:07You've got two options on each side. So would you still look to strengthen them further?
04:11If we can, we're always, you know, trying to strengthen the squad if we possibly can.
04:17In terms of numbers, we are still a little bit short, but we've still got a couple of days to go.
04:22And I would think that we could maybe do one or two bits of business. We'll see.
04:27We'll see what comes out.
04:31It's always the natural way of a transfer window where you can get your business done nice and early.
04:35You can have 11 signings done before the first game, but then deadline day comes and it always seems to be busy still.
04:40Nothing changes. Well, it stems from the Premier League, right?
04:46And that whittles its way down through the Championship and then gets to our level
04:50because we know now with the big clubs and how many loans that these Premier League clubs let out.
04:57You know, you're talking about 10s and 12s and 15 players, maybe some clubs let out on loan.
05:03So it's normal.
05:05We'll see what's available and what comes available.
05:07We'll see what's available and then we'll go from there.
05:09We'll see what's available and then we'll go from there.
