At a press conference on Thursday, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D-IL) cited the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 to criticize President Trump’s threat to deploy the National Guard. The Act arose as a response to the deployment of the U.S. Military to former Confederate states following the Civil War.
