00:00Previously on Project Runway.
00:03We have an exciting new challenge.
00:04You need to be creative because you don't want to end up with your design in the fashion
00:08cemetery over there.
00:10People are going to start getting more bitch ass with each other.
00:13I don't understand why Karrison had to say that.
00:16Just go away.
00:18Austin could have done a better job with leadership.
00:21Morgan is tragic.
00:24Morgan.
00:25Morgan!
00:26Romeo, so checking out.
00:28Alexandra.
00:29Alexandra.
00:29All right.
00:32Romeo.
00:33Wanted to get off with Alexandra.
00:37Eight of you are left.
00:39One designer will be cut every week until three remain.
00:43Those three will show their line at Olympus Fashion Week.
00:46Then one winner will be chosen.
00:48The winner will receive a spread in Elle magazine, a mentorship with Banana Republic design team,
00:53and $100,000 to start their own line.
00:56Nora.
00:57Nora.
00:58Nora.
00:58Yeah?
01:02If she went shopping, she could probably find this dress.
01:06You're in Austin.
01:10That means, Laura, you're out.
01:16This is a search for the next big fashion designer.
01:19It's a cutthroat business.
01:21The competition was fierce.
01:23Twelve contestants, three finalists, and one winner.
01:28Three designers will make their runway debut at Olympus Fashion Week.
01:31I plan to make it to Fashion Week.
01:33I think I'll be number one.
01:34And the winner of Project Runway will receive everything they need to start their own label.
01:38I think I deserve to win.
01:40People are going to start getting pretty bitchy.
01:42Oh, my.
01:43For these twelve contestants, Project Runway is a chance of a lifetime.
01:54I was sad to see Nora go home.
01:56She's a great designer.
01:58And I hated to have a spat with her in front of everybody.
02:02If you had to make that garment by yourself yesterday and...
02:06I could have done it faster without you.
02:07Oh, that's how it is.
02:10Nora is extremely talented.
02:14And I think by Nora leaving, a lot of people are now like,
02:19okay, this is possible.
02:22This is obtainable.
02:28Welcome back to the runway.
02:30You have lost five, and there are now only seven of you left.
02:33Let's call this week's challenge Making a Splash.
02:40You will design a swimsuit sleek and glamorous enough to navigate the waters of an exclusive fashion industry party.
02:48You only have five hours to complete your swimsuits.
02:51So be daring and use your time wisely.
02:56Let's bring out the models.
02:57Models, it is just as important for you guys as it is for the designers for you to stay on this competition.
03:12There is an exclusive fashion spread in L Magazine on the line for the final model.
03:18There are now seven designers and eight models on the runway.
03:23You know that choosing the right model is crucial to surviving on the show.
03:28I will draw your names out of this bag, and you will select in this order.
03:33The last model on the runway will be out.
03:36Karasan, you won the last challenge.
03:41You get to choose first.
03:43Jenny, thank you so much.
03:45You did a wonderful job.
03:47And since this is a bikini competition, I think I'm going to have you again.
03:53Alessandra, Erin, Kevin.
03:55Since this is a party, I'm going with the party monster herself.
04:00Morgan still scares me a little, but it's worth it, you know, it's worth a gamble, I think.
04:05She seems like she's cleaning up her act.
04:08Wendy.
04:09Martinique.
04:10Austin.
04:10Melissa.
04:12Robert.
04:12Olga.
04:14So, Jay, there are two models left on the stage, Julia and Joy.
04:22The model that you choose will be in, the other model will be out.
04:27Do I?
04:28Ah, ah.
04:30I've never worked with Joy before, but I like Julia.
04:35It's spunk.
04:36So, we're going to go with her.
04:39No sweat.
04:44That means you're out.
04:45Okay.
04:46Auf Wiedersehen.
04:47Bye.
04:48Bye.
04:48Bye.
04:49Bye.
04:49Bye.
04:49Bye.
04:49Bye.
04:49Bye.
04:49Bye.
04:49Bye.
04:50Bye.
04:50Bye.
04:50Bye.
04:50Bye.
04:50Bye.
04:50I was a little bit upset.
04:52I really wanted to stay because I've really made some good friends.
04:57I'm okay.
04:58I kind of felt like I was leaving summer camp.
05:01Bye.
05:03Okay, designers, good luck with the challenge.
05:07You only have five hours to complete your swimsuits.
05:12And I'll see you back on the runway.
05:14Bye.
05:15Bye.
05:15Bye.
05:15Bye.
05:23All right, everyone.
05:24Here we are at Mood.
05:25You have 30 minutes and $75 each to create a swimsuit that can double as evening wear.
05:35I have one that caught my eye so much that happened.
05:38Where is it?
05:38That's kind of like a Missoni-ish look.
05:41Oh, yeah.
05:42That's Missoni, all right.
05:44Okay, so let's get four yards, please.
05:46I love all the old, like, Esther Williams movies.
05:49That sort of just, like, glamour, bathing, beauty ideal, I think, will be sort of echoed in my design.
05:57What is this thong costume?
05:59Well, I don't wear thong.
06:00I don't know.
06:02I am really flying blind here.
06:04I don't know anything about bathing suit construction.
06:08But I understand that I've got to have a clue because it's got to be done by 5 o'clock.
06:13Are they me?
06:14Are they me?
06:14Are they me?
06:16Oh, boy.
06:20Here we go to making a bathing suit in minus 4, 3, 2, 1.
06:28There's never a lot of time for these challenges, but this particular one, there is no time to complete this challenge.
06:36And I just, you know, I'm wondering how everybody's going to make out.
06:40It's time to make the bathing suit.
06:46I just wanted to make something strappy.
06:49I remember something from somewhere that had straps on it.
06:53So I kind of want, like, a lot of them.
06:55So I got these little rings to hold the top together.
06:57This is a swimsuit for a society girl.
07:06It's like a cream color.
07:08It has two pieces to it.
07:09The cover up, you know, you can just wear it there.
07:12And then the bathing suit, you can wear it in the water if you want to.
07:14It's very sexy, very elegant, very rich.
07:20I think the three strongest designers at this point in the competition are me, Austin, and Carason.
07:29Since I'm from Miami, bikinis and bathing suits, it's like a big thing over there.
07:35So this should be a fun project for me.
07:38I'm doing kind of like a Missoni-inspired meets, like, Celine.
07:42You know how Michael Kors did that bathing suit with all the gold?
07:46That's, like, my inspiration.
07:54How is everyone?
07:56We don't have enough time, for sure.
07:58We don't have enough time?
07:59But we can probably do whatever we can.
08:02You need to make it work by five tonight.
08:06On this one, we were given no time.
08:09And so I think people were kind of going a little crazy.
08:12Screaming at the sewing machines, but it's not going to help.
08:14Ah!
08:16Oh, my, I was having such trauma at the machines, and I was cursing at them.
08:21You know, you're a fat c***.
08:24Jay, what?
08:25It's cool.
08:25Just chill.
08:26No, it's not cool.
08:28Yeah, I'm 10 hours behind, and this c*** looks like a gay men's S&M costume.
08:33I went to, like, five machines, and they all sucked ass.
08:36You fat c***.
08:40I swear to God, these machines.
08:42Today is not the day for these things to be happening to me.
08:46Please.
08:46Please.
08:47Please.
08:48Please.
08:48Please work for me.
08:50Please.
08:50I just don't know how everybody else seems to have the perfect c*** machine.
08:54My thread keeps breaking.
08:56I just felt like I could not get it done, and there was such a time constraint.
08:59So then I was like, oh, no, I'm starting to freak out, and then the time ticking.
09:03I really thought, okay, I'm out.
09:05I'm out of this show.
09:09Coming up on Project Runway.
09:11I think something's going to happen at 5 o'clock.
09:14You're going to a party, and an additional challenge that you have.
09:18There's always a twist.
09:20Somehow there's always a twist to these challenges.
09:21For the sixth challenge, the key word is a little outfit to make a splash at a fashion party.
09:34So, obviously, you know, bathing suit.
09:36We all went into this knowing it would be a challenge.
09:39There's just so many types of bathing suits.
09:41But I definitely wanted something that was a little bit evening wear.
09:45But still, I really thought it was important that it ought to be a functioning bathing suit.
09:51This is the shortest amount of time we have had to execute a challenge.
10:00The design is avant-garde classic.
10:03It's got, like, a tuxedo, one-piece swimsuit with, like, a kind of scuba-esque miniskirt covering to the bottom.
10:11The key is to, like, just keep telling yourself that it's going to be incredible.
10:15As long as you keep your head, keep having your voice saying that you're going to kick ass, then you'll be able to pull it off with no mistakes.
10:24I went out and had a cigarette, and I was like, by the end of my cigarette and coming back in the elevator, I knew exactly what I had to do.
10:33So, yeah, my cigarette's my savior.
10:36They should call them a pack of saviors.
10:45Austin.
10:45Yes.
10:46Wendy.
10:46Alexandra.
10:48Kevin.
10:48Yes.
10:4915 minutes.
10:50Then I'll be back, and we'll have to stop.
10:52I was going to die.
11:19But something's telling me, do not die this piece.
11:22I'm serious.
11:24I think something's going to happen at 5 o'clock.
11:26We knew something else was coming, because we knew we had to be finished by 5.
11:30So we're like, oh, my God, what is it?
11:31Are we going to a pool party?
11:33We didn't know.
11:35There's always a twist.
11:36Somehow there's always a twist to these challenges.
11:39Okay, everybody.
11:41It's the moment of truth.
11:43Stop what you're doing.
11:44Come gather around me, no matter what you're doing.
11:47This challenge was to design a swimsuit, glamorous enough, sleek and sexy enough to navigate a fashion industry party.
11:57And as many of you may have already guessed, you're going to a party at Hero Cocktail Lounge at the Maritime Hotel, hosted by Elle magazine.
12:05Very exciting.
12:07Wow.
12:07An important part about being a fashion designer is getting your name in the press.
12:12Richard Johnson, who is the editor of Page Six of the New York Post, is going to be in attendance at tonight's event.
12:18And an additional challenge that you have is to get his attention.
12:22At first when I heard it was Richard Johnson, I was kind of excited because I know everybody reads Page Six, like, the column to read for celebrity and urban gossip.
12:34So he is going to be evaluating your performance in a social setting, and the winner will be the designer who gets his or her name printed in Richard Johnson's column.
12:43That person will have immunity next week.
12:47The rest of you will be judged on the runway.
12:50So make certain that you and your models are the celebrities tonight.
12:56Your models are going to be in momentarily.
12:58And need to go to the L'Oreal Paris hair and makeup rooms to get prepped.
13:02All right, have fun.
13:03See you later.
13:04Look, look, look, look, look.
13:11Oh, my goodness.
13:14I'm so happy that I had her because she's, I think she's a great designer.
13:19So proud.
13:20I like the top.
13:22Luckily, I chose Melissa, who, you know, is very comfortable with her body.
13:26And she's also a very, you know, effervescent personality that would be well suited to, you know, sort of working a party.
13:34I don't want a chair.
13:37Press is extremely important to designers.
13:39It's like a free advertisement for a designer to get his name out.
13:43If your name's out there, it's going to cause attention.
13:46People will want a piece of that.
14:01Martinique is my mom.
14:02I looked at her and I saw her as this kind of, like, bird of paradise.
14:07And so I wanted to give her these really bright colors.
14:09It's a sheared one-piece suit.
14:14Now, sweetie, please don't be irritated with me.
14:16I've never made a thong in my life.
14:18I don't even know how to make a thong.
14:19Yeah.
14:19So just bear with me, will you?
14:21I don't even know what I'm doing.
14:22Is there any way that I can have more coverage?
14:25My model said, oh, she'd rather wear her own thong.
14:30Okay, turn around.
14:31It's so small.
14:33Is it?
14:33I fitted the bathing suit on Erin, and it was a bit too small.
14:37Her behind was showing a little bit.
14:39Look in the mirror.
14:44Have you ever worn a bikini that small or no?
14:46No.
14:47No?
14:47Oh.
14:48I was a bit concerned, and it was tiny, and she seemed a little bit uncomfortable when she put on the bathing suit.
14:53So I was getting a little bit nervous, you know, about the party.
14:58It's going to be pretty rigged on your body, so just be prepared.
15:03I'm glad I shaved my bikini on.
15:05Oh, my God.
15:05I'm so glad I'm just wearing that.
15:07I would die.
15:08Chase?
15:09My dishes coming out.
15:12Okay, here's our skirt.
15:13Yeah, take it, and then I'll...
15:15Don't lose it.
15:17What would you do if I lost it?
15:23I didn't really get Kevin's bathing suit idea.
15:38I mean, it looked like, I don't know, not like a bathing suit.
15:41If she has the skirt on, it looks just like a button-down and a skirt.
15:46Also, Wendy's, I don't think is really a swimsuit at all.
15:48It's sort of like a mini dress.
15:50I don't think she has what it takes.
15:52More often than not, she ends up making a mess.
15:57Oh, no.
15:59Morgan, she's my trump card.
16:02As long as she doesn't get drunk and, like, falls on the floor or something,
16:06well, maybe that will make the press.
16:09Coming up on Project Runway.
16:11Model from hell, Morgan conquers and kills the world.
16:15Melissa was, like, trying to give the man an interaction.
16:22The little twist to our challenge was that we had to get the attention of Richard Johnson,
16:30the columnist for New York Post, and wrangle a mention in his column.
16:35Richard Johnson works for Page Six, New York Post, which is actually almost like,
17:00to some New Yorkers, it's like, almost like a daily Bible.
17:03He's over there, but I don't know if anyone's even approached him.
17:07Jenny and I were the first people to talk to Richard.
17:10Hi, Jenny.
17:13Hi, I'm Richard.
17:14Jenny just went over and introduced herself, and they started talking about the outfit.
17:19She really knows how to work a room.
17:21Do you think it's very ready-to-wear?
17:23You're ready.
17:24Ready-to-wear.
17:24This is my designer.
17:26I know.
17:26Hi.
17:27Ah!
17:28It's me.
17:28It's me.
17:29It's me.
17:29Hi.
17:30This is my designer.
17:31I love her.
17:32I'm such a comparison.
17:33How are you?
17:33Did you design this package there?
17:35Yes, I did.
17:36That's very pretty.
17:37I didn't stay in Tarantum long.
17:39I just wanted to sort of make an appearance and let him see my work.
17:44It's nice meeting you guys, though.
17:45Bye.
17:46So you're nice.
17:49I'm Richard.
17:50I'm Richard.
17:50I'm Richard.
17:51Show him this bathing suit.
17:53Oh.
17:55This is scuba.
17:56This is great.
17:57So do you have an overriding, is there a look to what you do?
18:01Yeah.
18:02It's kind of classic and a little avant-garde.
18:05Not too much either.
18:07It was a party, and Morgan, she has great energy.
18:12And I got lucky with Morgan.
18:14He didn't get lucky like that.
18:18He's my bitch.
18:19All right.
18:22It was a pleasure meeting you.
18:24Thank you, sir.
18:29This is my soccer mom.
18:31I call it soccer mom.
18:32Soccer mom.
18:32Good job.
18:34And you have a burning desire to be a big fashion designer.
18:38Yeah.
18:38But actually, burning is not just to dress women.
18:41You know?
18:41Yeah.
18:41I love it.
18:43You don't like them naked?
18:45I like to dress them and then undress them.
18:48Yeah.
18:48You have both stories.
18:50My inspiration comes from the classic sports car.
18:53The curvature.
18:53Yeah.
18:54So a woman and a classic sports car are very much alike.
18:57That's great.
18:58Yes.
18:58It's very pleasurable meeting you.
19:05Very beautiful.
19:06Thank you very much.
19:07Thank you very much.
19:08You know, Botticelli had his Venus.
19:11She's mine.
19:12So I swallowed her and sort of the gossamer and the wind and rain and the ocean.
19:20We just went in there and I had a glass of champagne and we're our natural selves.
19:26Austin was really being over the top and fake and I was pretty grossed out.
19:32I'm so excited to go out 16.
19:35A great little child.
19:36She's all like his gender.
19:37Wait, wait, did you say you're only 16?
19:39Yes.
19:40Everything's with Brandon's plop.
19:42She's covered up.
19:43No alcohol.
19:46Playing by the rules.
19:47It's not even legal in New York, 16.
19:51I'm sure we need a bottle.
19:52We're free in New York.
19:57So have you always dreamed of being a designer?
19:59A designer, yeah, always.
20:00Ever since I was a little girl, I've always been so passionate about it.
20:04And I mean, I'm young.
20:05I'm only 22 years old.
20:08Well, it's great meeting you.
20:09Very nice meeting you, too.
20:10I really wasn't very aggressive because I'm not a very aggressive person.
20:15But I was myself.
20:18I went up and introduced myself and I think I talked a little bit about my design.
20:23You showing the book?
20:24Oh, yeah.
20:25The Cartier on the side.
20:26But I couldn't think of anything else to say to him other than...
20:29What makes you mention someone in your column?
20:32I knew when I was saying it that it was like, this is the most boring thing you could ever
20:35ask him.
20:36But I'm interested.
20:37What do you have to do to get in this stupid column?
20:40We basically write about people who deserve to be right about.
20:43You know, when it's a positive thing.
20:44I didn't have a plan and it showed, I'm sure, to him.
20:48And you're really selling that suit.
20:50Am I really?
20:51Well, hopefully I'll sell it enough I'll be on the front page.
21:00Let's talk to this guy.
21:01Let's get it over with.
21:02So, I finally find this guy with lights all over him.
21:06So, I go, that's my guy.
21:07I'm Jesus.
21:09This is Julia, by the way.
21:10Shake the man's hand.
21:12I was just being J.
21:13I was dressed as Jesus.
21:14And it worked out much better than the 30 Van Damme thing.
21:17It was pretty jovial.
21:18I kept it lighthearted and casual and fun and funny, which is the way I like to do things.
21:23Show the man the whole ordeal.
21:26You ready?
21:27Ready, Richard?
21:28All right.
21:28Nice.
21:29I like it.
21:30It's like S&M.
21:30Look, I didn't mean it to be, you know.
21:33I didn't design it that way, but it just turned out that way and blah, blah, blah.
21:37Cheers, Julia.
21:38Pleasure meeting you both.
21:39Are we done?
21:40I guess so.
21:41All right.
21:46Although it was work to get the attention of Richard Johnson, everyone was just actually
21:51having a good time.
21:52It was nice to see everybody actually, you know, dancing and hanging out, laying back.
22:00Austin's model, Melissa, was like really flirty with Richard Johnson.
22:24And she like went by herself and she started talking with him.
22:28Melissa just kind of looked like hired help for the night.
22:32She was just sitting there with her legs crossed and doing this like giggling.
22:38She just knows how to work it.
22:40She is 16 going on 35.
22:43Right when I saw Melissa talking to Richard, I told Olga, you know what, just go chill out
22:48with Melissa, get in there.
22:50And she strolled herself over there and started, you know, so I sat down there and I'm like,
22:53Harrison, get your girl, you know, Jenny.
22:54And Jenny went over there too.
22:55How do you do?
22:56Jenny.
22:57Tim basically said, you know, we had to do whatever it takes to get his attention.
23:02And he's sort of, you know, a man's man.
23:04He likes the beautiful young ladies.
23:06And so I just let her do what she does best and let nature take its course.
23:14Melissa was probably like trying to give the man an erection.
23:26It's obvious to me that Melissa knows exactly what she's doing.
23:30Make a little whip off the earth.
23:33If she becomes the star out of this and you don't, that won't happen.
23:44Hello, I'm ready to stop my vagina.
23:46We're in the club and it was time to go.
24:02When Morgan said that she's going to a club, I said, well, I don't know if it's good to
24:06wear my outfit there.
24:08She said that she was going to change and she would take it with her.
24:13I trust her.
24:14I believe in her.
24:15I don't think I would have taken that chance.
24:17How about if something splits or she loses the top?
24:21Do you have time to sit down and make another top?
24:23You probably won't.
24:24They probably won't allow you to.
24:26Okay, you gotta go.
24:27Let's go.
24:27I'm really hoping Morgan shows up in the outfit and it's not in 52 pieces.
24:32We'll be fine.
24:34That's, I'm hoping.
24:37Here's the cab.
24:37Let's go.
24:39Go.
24:45Today is a runway show.
24:51One of us is going to get lemonade.
24:53Oh, this is spicy.
24:54Kevin's design really doesn't look like a bathing suit.
24:56I'm a big concern about that.
24:58Looks like a skirt and a shirt.
25:00I think Kevin could be going today, maybe.
25:03Same thing with Wendy.
25:04Hers just kind of looks like a dress.
25:05How come you let her have gone out in the outfit?
25:09I'd be concerned if I was Kevin about Morgan.
25:12Hopefully she's still in New York.
25:14She's probably in Miami right now.
25:16She's like, I have a bathing suit on.
25:18Let's go to the beach.
25:20I went out to have a cigarette and Morgan's there.
25:29What happened?
25:30It ripped.
25:31Morgan, I swear to God, she was planted by, like, demons into this show.
25:37You know, she's like the fucking model from hell.
25:49I went to Marquis last night.
25:52Very late.
25:53Okay, I couldn't go back here, so I had to wear Kevin's clothes out and I ripped them.
25:59Oops.
26:01Not good.
26:06Not too good.
26:09Hey, girl.
26:09I'm right here, man.
26:11How did it suit?
26:12Good.
26:12How did it suit?
26:13It's fine, right?
26:15Yeah, because this binding came off a little bit right here.
26:19What's wrong?
26:22That popped off?
26:23I didn't do anything today.
26:25But you wore it all night, so that's what's going to happen, you know?
26:28This was like, it was a fraying at the party.
26:30Wait, are you mad?
26:31Me?
26:32No.
26:32This is what it is.
26:33How's this shirt?
26:34No, what?
26:35Tell me.
26:35If I would have known this would have happened, I wouldn't have picked her.
26:39I took a gamble and picked her for this, and maybe I'm wrong.
26:43Next time I won't.
26:45It's not cool because you see how it's, like, coming apart.
26:48No matter what the f*** I do, it's like, really, honestly, I'm over this.
26:54You know what I want?
26:55I'm so over this.
26:56I mean, you know what I want?
26:57Eliminate me.
26:58I'm done.
26:59We shouldn't have worn it so long.
27:00Oh, I think I need to figure out how we can do this.
27:17Two there.
27:21Oh, my God.
27:22What is wrong with this f***ing thing?
27:24How did I get this on?
27:25How did you get this off?
27:26You got it on me pretty easily.
27:28It's kind of a tricky suit to get into, but that's what makes it fun, baby.
27:33Oh, f*** me.
27:35It's still twisted.
27:36Are you serious?
27:38Hey, guys.
27:39We got it!
27:40The damage was done.
27:45Reincarnate.
27:47Reincarnate.
28:10We have 60 seconds until The Runway Show.
28:21Coming up on Project Runway.
28:25It doesn't really look like a bathing suit to me.
28:28You're killing me here.
28:29I mean, it's just my personal belief.
28:31Just because it happens doesn't mean it's right.
28:36Welcome back to The Runway.
28:38Seven of you remain.
28:41And as you know, this competition is just as cutthroat as the fashion business itself.
28:47One day you're in, and the next day you're out.
28:50At the end of tonight, one of you will be out.
28:55This week's challenge was to design a bathing suit.
28:57Take your model to a fashion industry party and make a splash.
29:01The judges will be scoring your designs as they come down the runway.
29:04You will be judged on the innovation of your design and your ability to make a name for
29:09yourself in the press.
29:12And the winner of this challenge will have a guaranteed in for the next challenge.
29:16And cannot be eliminated.
29:18And one of you will be out.
29:23Now, let's meet the judges.
29:26Constance White, fashion journalist and style director of eBay.
29:30Anne Slohee, fashion news director of Elle magazine.
29:33And Richard Johnson, head of New York Post's famous Page Six.
29:38Let's start the show.
29:48I definitely wanted something that was, you know, a little bit dressy, but could certainly
29:53be worn in the pool.
29:55I was certainly very happy with the way it came out.
29:58Morgan tore it a little bit, but it looked great up there.
30:10She made it look great.
30:13And when she's on stage, it's her show.
30:15I did that one piece bathing suit, not just for these, like, size 2, 4 women, but, like,
30:29also these size 12, 14 women.
30:31You can also feel comfortable in the bathing suit that I designed.
30:33Because, you know, not everyone's, like, a toothpick.
30:35It's essentially tarted up for the purposes of this challenge, but I believe that what
30:49you cover says more about you than what you reveal.
30:52I like my bathing suit with my top and the fringe.
31:07And when we went to the party, it seemed like everybody loved it.
31:10It was just a simple bathing suit, but I added the gold, you know, to make it more of a party
31:36outfit, dressed it up a bit.
31:37It's very, very tiny, but I'm used to the tiny bathing suits.
31:42Those are the bathing suits I wear.
31:55I just kind of made two black Band-Aids with dental floss wrapped around it with two little rings,
32:02which ended up looking like an S&M outfit.
32:04But it all came together somehow, and I'm pleased with it.
32:23We've tallied your scores.
32:25I want to ask all the designers to please step onto the runway.
32:37Kara-san, please step forward.
32:41You haven't won, but you have a guaranteed in because you won last week's challenge.
32:48Please leave the runway.
32:49Six of you remain.
32:57You represent the best and the worst.
33:04We will discuss your designs and how you handled yourself with Richard Johnson last night.
33:11One of you will be the winner, and one of you will be out.
33:21Let's bring out your models.
33:22Robert, I was wondering if you could explain to me again the similarity between fast cars and fashion models.
33:41I mean, it's just my personal belief, but I believe a woman and a classic sports car are very much alike.
33:47What?
33:48Meaning, in my, you know, I kind of, well, if you always notice, most, most car collectors always name their cars after women.
33:54Well, just because it happens doesn't mean it's right.
33:57No, me too.
33:58Jay, tell us about your design.
34:01Kind of like sporty, gypsy, future something.
34:04It's kind of how I usually always work.
34:07Techno-bohemian is what I, is pretty much how it goes.
34:10So, techno-bohemian.
34:12Now, Jay, you're a very flamboyant character.
34:15Mmm, sometimes.
34:17And fashion is a business.
34:19I'm trying to picture you in, like, four seasons at lunch at a very serious business meeting.
34:26Do you have what it takes to do the business end of it?
34:30Mmm, you're killing me here.
34:32Um, sure, as long as there's a booster seat for me so I can act like a child.
34:42Alexandra, tell me a bit about what you were thinking when you did it.
34:47I was influenced a lot by Missoni fabrics.
34:49It has kind of like a Missoni feeling.
34:52And also, actually, you know the bikini that Michael Kors did for Celine with the chains with the gold?
34:57That inspired me a lot.
34:58So, I was thinking, you know, that kind of look.
35:02You could have been a little more creative with what you did.
35:08Hauston, and can you tell me a bit about your creation, please?
35:13Sort of the first sort of imagery that came to my mind was sort of a water nymph, like a Venus sort of ascending from the wave.
35:20So, I sort of swathed her in winds and waters.
35:24And, um, it was also very important for me that it actually be a wearable, workable bathing suit.
35:31Very Esther Williams.
35:33Again, glamorous, but entirely swimmable.
35:37Kevin, is yours entirely swimmable?
35:39Yeah, it's, um, it's made for swimming.
35:41It's stretch, it's stretch swimsuit.
35:44Because it doesn't really look like a bathing suit to me.
35:48It doesn't look it because it has the sleeves, but the sleeves can be rolled up.
35:51It's a full body suit.
35:55And this is a scuba neoprene skirt.
35:59And do you think you made a good impression last night?
36:01Or is there something you would have done different?
36:02I, I think I was good.
36:05Maybe.
36:06I was good.
36:07Yeah.
36:08I was good.
36:09I think.
36:11Wendy, can you tell me a little bit about your, your suit and your design?
36:15I tried to make a sort of colorful top and have a system where if, you know, she wanted to hide her upper thighs, she could.
36:24The only thing I have a question about, is it more of a dress than a suit?
36:28And once this fabric gets wet, how flattering is that going to be?
36:33And what does happen underneath?
36:34Is there a bottom that is like, that you made as well?
36:37Like a bikini bottom or?
36:39She is wearing a thong because I, um, made a, um, a thong for her.
36:46But the elastic that I used, what, we couldn't adjust it in time.
36:51So we used a thong that she had just so that she could make it to the party.
36:58Okay, thank you.
37:01Please leave the runway and we're going to call you back shortly.
37:11Richard, I want to know who was the most newsworthiest?
37:15I think, uh, Austin made a very good presentation.
37:19He's very sort of, uh, outgoing and, uh, very talkative, very extroverted.
37:24And, uh, yeah, well, Jay is a, is a tremendous character as well.
37:27I think the two of them were pretty much neck and neck in my opinion.
37:30My favorite suit was Jay's suit.
37:33Yeah, it was very Gucci-esque, you know.
37:35I thought that was great.
37:36But you also liked, uh, Robert as well, didn't you?
37:38Yeah, Robert, I thought, was very sort of self-confident.
37:41He was, uh, relaxed.
37:42He talked about himself very easily.
37:45And, um...
37:45I wasn't, um, really keen on his suit at all.
37:49I feel Constance was going to come up with slap.
37:52You know, you got to be careful.
37:53She's a feminazi.
37:55Wendy didn't really, uh, make much of an impression.
37:58I think somebody mentioned to me that there was, like, a mom from Virginia that was part of it.
38:02It would have worked better for her if she had told that story.
38:04And I had a problem technically with her bathing suit because it was missing the under part, the actual bathing girdle, you know.
38:15I didn't think, uh, Alexandra's suit was very interesting either, I mean.
38:19Also, how original was it?
38:21She explained to us exactly who she copied.
38:23No creativity.
38:29What did you guys think about Kevin?
38:30I asked him a couple questions and he had a chance to, you know, sort of defend himself and talk about how great he is.
38:36And he sort of muffed it, I thought.
38:37First, I thought that that is not a bathing suit because I thought it was just cotton and, you know, it was kind of like loosey-goosey with a skirt.
38:45I couldn't figure it out.
38:47I mean, this time it's really rough.
38:55Okay, let's bring out the designers.
39:00This was a particular difficult one across the board.
39:21As you know, the winner of this challenge is the person who designed the best swimsuit and made the best impression on Richard Johnson.
39:29And two of you made a very strong impact.
39:35Jay and Austin.
39:38It's between the two of you.
39:41And you will find out tomorrow morning in the New York Post on page six which of you is the winner.
39:48You both can use the runway.
39:50If I do get in page six, I know it's because I was real and I was funny and I was myself.
40:04We weren't whoring like it seemed like Austin and Melissa were.
40:08Robert, you're still in.
40:16Please leave the runway.
40:17The three of you remain.
40:29Two will be in.
40:32And one will be out.
40:36Wendy.
40:37Wendy.
40:42You're still in.
40:43Please leave the runway.
40:44When she said I was in, I just breathed a huge sigh of relief because I thought I was going to be eliminated.
40:56Alexandra and Kevin, it's between the two of you.
41:11Alexandra, you relied on other designers to find your inspiration and it lacks originality.
41:18Kevin, your design didn't look enough like a swimsuit.
41:22Kevin.
41:28Kevin.
41:29Yes.
41:31You're still in.
41:34Please leave the runway.
41:39Alexandra, that means you're out.
41:43You need to find your own path in this business.
41:46and not turn to other designers for inspiration.
41:51Okay, thank you.
41:53It was nice meeting you all.
41:55You too.
41:56Auf Wiedersehen.
41:57Bye.
41:58Bye.
41:58Wow, I got hit hard.
42:20The first time I've seen this show, I was quite shocked.
42:23What a great time with everyone.
42:31So do you feel okay enough to go back to the workroom?
42:33Yes, I feel fine.
42:34Great, okay.
42:35All right.
42:36Best wishes, Alexandra.
42:37We love you.
42:38Bye.
42:43This experience is really going to make me a better person,
42:46better designer, better everything, stronger person.
42:49But I am disappointed that I didn't make it, you know,
42:53to the top three.
42:54But, you know, things happen for a reason.
43:06Oh, they do?
43:07Yeah.
43:08Let's see, where is it?
43:09Oh, the post.
43:10Grab it.
43:14And the answer is...
43:14Early favorite.
43:16Aspiring designer.
43:17Austin Scores!
43:19That's you!
43:20Oh, my God.
43:21You're the winner.
43:22Oh, my God.
43:23My mother's going to be so proud.
43:25Congratulations.
43:25Oh, thanks, Jay.
43:27Aspiring designer, Austin Scarlett,
43:29made a splash with a sexy Monroe-esque swimsuit
43:32designed for elite model Melissa Harrow
43:34at the Project Runway L Magazine party at Hero.
43:38Oh, Jay.
43:40You still won.
43:41It's cool.
43:41It's cool.
43:42You don't deserve to win that thing.
43:44Ow!
43:45Ow!
43:46Ow!
43:46Why did you have to do that?
43:53Next, on Project Runway.
43:55As one group, you have one day to design a whole collection.
43:58One of you will be the leader.
44:00Runway!
44:02As a leader, you never let someone come in and take control.
44:06The whole venture kind of disintegrated into just talking out our ass.
44:12For f***ing 2055!
44:14Kevin, you can choose your model.
44:15No more drama.
44:17That was really intense.
44:19This is a collection that you all created in a group.
44:22You're going to have to stand there and lie.
44:24So you feel he was a good leader.
44:27So they all look like they're this cohesive, friendly group.
44:31And, you know, I'm out in outer space.
44:34Visit ProjectRunway.com to learn more about the fashions you've seen on today's show.
