During a press briefing on Tuesday, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) criticized Orange County State Attorney Monique H. Worrell's approach to crime.

00:00Any questions back there? Yes, ma'am.
00:02Do you want to see Orange County law enforcement do more to fight drugs?
00:06And can you give us an update on the doge subpoenas?
00:08Because the mayor here is denying there's any problems.
00:12So a couple things.
00:13So I would draw a distinction between rank and file law enforcement
00:18and the law enforcement agencies in Orange County
00:21and the state attorney in Orange County.
00:23She obviously is not gung-ho about doing what needs to be done.
00:27And, you know, we've obviously held her accountable in the past.
00:32She's back.
00:33And so, you know, we have to see.
00:35But I think that they are on law enforcement rank and file.
00:39I think a lot of those folks are working really hard.
00:41You know, the reality is it takes two to tango on this.
00:45You could have the best policing in the world if you don't have a prosecutor
00:48who's really going to be strong on bringing these.
00:52Like, for example, Cher, how many homicide cases have you guys had with the fentanyl?
00:56Just shy of 50.
00:59If that were in Orange County, would they have a chance to have gotten all those charges, homicides?
01:04No way, right?
01:05She just wouldn't do it.
01:06Her approach is a liberal approach to, I would say, fighting crime.
01:12Basically, her approach is to not be as strong as we need to be
01:16and to have a thumb on the scale in favor of the defendants.
01:21So these guys are bringing people to justice.
01:24They're treating them like the murderers that they are in Seminole and Brevard
01:28and in other parts of Florida.
01:29You're not seeing that here.
01:31So I don't blame law enforcement for that, the people that are in the sheriff's departments
01:35or the police departments, as much as I think it's a function of the prosecutor's agenda.
01:40Now, you get elected, you can make judgment calls to a certain extent, but there are limits to that discretion.
01:49And when these prosecutors, Soros-backed, have done where they've exceeded their discretion
01:55and ended up neglecting core duties, you know, I've removed them from their posts.
01:59And that's something that I have no doubt that what we've done in that regard has saved lives.
02:05I have no doubt that it's saved lives, 100%.
02:08So we're going to be ready, willing, and able to do what we need to do.
02:11But let's do.
02:12Yes.
