USC Trojans head coach Lincoln Riley discusses what he saw from the offensive line during the first game of the season
Transcript
00:00Coach, following up that question about just the versatility of the offensive line,
00:05they were instrumental in about a handful of explosive plays that you guys had.
00:09Can you just talk to me about what you saw from the offensive line?
00:12Yeah, pretty cohesive group.
00:13A lot of what we've seen in camp, I mean, I think they've had the benefit of going up against our defensive line every single day,
00:19and that's been a real battle.
00:21I know a lot's been made.
00:22These guys were all guys that, the starters, all guys that we recruited, came out of high school, have developed.
00:27And there's a cohesiveness and a toughness about that group that I like.
00:31So, obviously, a lot of different challenges coming on down the road, but I like that.
00:36And, obviously, we'll be excited to evaluate the second group a little bit as well
00:39because their development will certainly be key to our season.
00:43You went with Hassan in the second half or the whole second half.
00:46Why did you make that move and how valuable was that?
00:47Well, the game was pretty well in hand.
00:50I mean, Jaden had played pretty darn good at that point.
00:55And so, obviously, Hassan hasn't gotten to play college football yet, and he's our backup quarterback.
00:59So, it was great to be able to get him some game reps and get that first one out of the way.
01:04How would you evaluate just what you saw?
01:07Yeah, I thought they were both really good.
01:09I mean, I thought Jaden kind of laid the blueprint with how well he played in the first half.
01:12And Hassan was pretty steady.
01:14He was.
01:15Obviously, he wanted to fumble back, but, you know, he was pretty steady.
01:18Ran with the ball.
01:19You see some of his athleticism.
01:20So, a good start for him.
