Philippine Defense Chief Gilbert Teodoro Jr gave a pointed response to Beijing after it warned Manila against deepening ties with Taipei: Don't dictate to us on how to implement our "one-China" policy. China's foreign ministry gave its warning following Taiwan Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung's recent trip to Manila.

00:00A senior Philippine official is pushing back against China's latest warnings on the Philippines' relationship with Taiwan.

00:07Defense Chief Gilberto Teodoro Jr. told reporters that Beijing cannot dictate to Manila how it should implement its One China policy.

00:15Teodoro's comments come after the Chinese foreign ministry warned that the Philippines would face consequences for, quote,

00:21trampling on China's red line.

00:23That warning followed reports that Taiwan's foreign minister, Ling Jialong, joined a trade and investment delegation to Manila over a week ago.

00:31Both the Philippines and Taiwan neither confirmed nor denied that visit.
