00:00So we're being serenaded here at Briley Hill, it's the opening of BQ Maryhill, hello guys!
00:14Hello! How you doing, you alright? Very well.
00:17The sun is shining, the sun only shines on the righteous, so you're doing something right.
00:21Our manager is Stephen, hello sir! Hello!
00:25Steve, where's that accent from? It's from Scotland.
00:28Scotland, but you're relocating specially for the store aren't you?
00:32I am indeed.
00:33That's how much you love it.
00:34Yes.
00:35So tell us about this store a bit, what can we expect?
00:38It looks like it's a good side, a bit of a TARDIS isn't it, when you go inside?
00:41So it's a 23,000 square foot store, offering paint mixing service, timber saw, garden centre and kitchen and bathroom designs.
00:50Cool, and you'll be open, what time is it? 7am, is that right?
00:55It's an early start isn't it Steve?
00:58It is indeed. 7am till 8pm Monday to Saturday and 10 to 4 on a Sunday.
01:03Fantastic. Now there used to be a BQ some years back, didn't there?
01:06So it's kind of a welcome return isn't it really to Maryhill?
01:08Yes, it is. Great to be back for the community.
01:10Great stuff. Well we'll let you get on guys, the customers have had a special voucher haven't they I believe?
01:14And they're picking up some plants, so we'll let you get in there and look after them.
01:18Ladies, introduce yourselves, what have we got here?
01:20My name's Amy. Yeah. I'm Hannah.
01:23And you've got a little free gift, little free plant.
01:26We live in my very best life. We have, we're ever so pleased.
01:28Cool, and you've got your sandpaper as well.
01:30I've got sandpaper.
01:31Suitable for all sanding needs.
01:33You've also been given a little voucher, is that right?
01:36Uh huh.
01:37How much you got? You've got a 20 haven't you?
01:39I have 20 pounds.
01:40I've got a 20 as well.
01:41It's not bad is it?
01:43So what do you think of the new store then?
01:45What's your first impression?
01:46Smells beautiful.
01:47Smells nice.
01:48Bit of wood.
01:49Describe that smell.
01:50Ode wood.
01:51Ode wood.
01:52The smell of wood.
01:53That does it for you.
01:54Yeah.
01:55So you've got everything you needed.
01:57I did, yes.
01:58But today, yeah.
01:59But I'll be back.
02:00Great stuff.
02:01I'll be back every week.
02:02It's handy isn't it?
02:03They've got everything here, you know what I mean?
02:04It's a handy store.
02:05Right, we'll let you crack on and get planting.
02:07Cheers ladies, thank you.
02:08So we're here with Roger.
02:09Hello sir.
02:10Hello.
02:11Where are you from Roger?
02:12Well I work for B&Q SSO, our store support office down in Southampton.
02:17Cool.
02:18So I look after the implementation of all our new stores.
02:21And we've got a massive giant saw behind you.
02:25I wasn't expecting to see that.
02:26You have.
02:27So what's that all about then?
02:28So customers can get some wood off the shelf and tell you exactly how they want it cut?
02:33Yeah, yeah basically that.
02:35So we obviously sell timber in bulk sheets and customers can come and have it cut to their own specified measurements.
02:42It's a service that we offer in a number of our stores and we're introducing them now in the smaller stores.
02:48So it's a really good service for the retail customer and our trade customers as well.
02:55And we've got Deputy Mayor.
02:56Hello sir.
02:57What's your name?
02:58What should I say?
02:59Great to have Maryhill, you know, B&Q reunited isn't it really?
03:03It's a wonderful news and I'm pleased that they're investing their money in Maryhill because this is now one of the biggest shopping hubs in the region.
