10 illegal off-road bikes have been crushed in a joint operation by West Midlands Police and Sandwell Council as they crack down on anti-social riders
Transcript
00:00I'm Sergeant Neils, I'm the Navy Inspector for Wensbury's.
00:29My name is Inspector Kirkpatah, I'm the Inspector for the Northsector East District in Sandwell.
00:34Fantastic, so what are we there to do today, what's this big look behind us now?
00:38So we're here today to crush, or have crushed, ten off-road bikes which have been seized in and around the Western Midlands,
00:44the majority in the Sandwell.
00:46Over the last few weeks we've seized bikes in the Westbury area, primarily in Friar Park and Gallagher Retail Park.
00:54Fantastic, so looking at the part that's behind us,
00:58I mean a few weeks ago these bikes that were on the road,
01:00can you just talk a little bit about the dangers of off-road bikes?
01:04The dangers are quite clear, I mean,
01:07A, they're off-road bikes, they're not the standards for use in the roads,
01:12and the fact that they've been ridden anti-socially and potentially dangerously can cause issues,
01:18not only to the riders themselves but to the wider public,
01:21and sometimes they're using criminal offences as well, which is causing other dangers.
01:26So this is what we see behind us, and obviously the pressure as well, the crushed bikes.
01:30Is this like a word of warning, this is what's going to happen to these bikes?
01:34Yeah, exactly. Our message is clear, if you're found riding a bike and associated dangerously,
01:40we will be able to see the bike, and you can potentially face the prosecution's crime,
01:44and it will be arrested.
