00:00As of this morning a 39 year old man remains in a critical but stable condition at the Princess
00:08Alexandra Hospital and under police guard there as well. Police and fire crews were called to
00:14this quiet Wynnum Street yesterday morning around 9 30 a.m. Now when police arrived they began
00:21searching for a 39 year old man. He was alleged to be found bleeding and holding a piece of glass
00:27before he became violent towards the two police officers who then used their service firearms.
00:33Now first aid was rendered at the scene before the man was transported to hospital in a critical
00:38but stable condition which as I say he remains in at this current point. Now the police union has
00:45taken the time to defend the actions of the officers. Shane Pryor the union president has
00:51watched the body cam footage and says that the officers acted appropriately in response to the
00:56threat made to them. This officer has felt fear for his life and has used their service firearm.
01:03Police officers have very bravely then performed tactical first aid on this male person. An inquiry
01:09has been launched by the police standards ethics commission and the investigation and crime scene
01:15remains active here in Wynnum West into the police involved shooting as well as the cause of the blaze.
