00:00Mark, first of all, these times, I'm sure, are whirlwind times.
00:04How have you found the first few days of being a Sheffield United player?
00:09It's been exciting. It's been intense.
00:11The training's been hard.
00:15Boys who haven't been in international break have been in training.
00:19Obviously, I travelled up on the Monday and straight in training Tuesday and Wednesday,
00:23which they were good sessions.
00:26And then this week as well, we've been working hard
00:28and everyone seems to be fit and healthy.
00:31It's been really easy for me to come in, settle in, and the boys have been great.
00:36So when, in the process of the final couple of days of the transfer window,
00:41did you think, yeah, I'm going to Sheffield United then?
00:45Yeah, it was obviously later on in the window,
00:51but the interest and the communications were happening before things happened
00:56and paperwork, some bits and bobs.
00:58But as soon as everything was all sorted and I got the nod,
01:02then I was really excited and I headed up straight away.
01:06So why did you decide that Sheffield United was the best place to further your career then?
01:11It just aligned with where I'm at in my career
01:13and where Sheffield United are at in their career and in their path.
01:18It just aligned nicely and something I was really looking forward to.
01:21The perception is that the move to Luton didn't work out.
01:26So is this a chance, you know, usual kind of lines, clean slate, etc. get back on track?
01:33Yeah, look, I wouldn't say, obviously the results didn't work out,
01:37but my experience and what I learned at Luton was huge for me as a player.
01:43Going through what happened, the squad we had and whatever, I learned so much from that.
01:48But again, yeah, this is a completely different opportunity for me.
01:51It's an opportunity to really progress and kick on and help Sheffield United achieve their goals as well as mine.
01:58Well, until you came to Sheffield United, you were very fondly remembered on the other side of the city.
02:02So have you had some stick because of that low move to Sheffield Wednesday?
02:06Yeah, look, as I said, this is a move for my career and a move where both the club and me align nicely.
02:14I haven't had time to sit down and look at anything, to be honest.
02:18So, look, I'm very much focused on my job here.
02:21So, yeah, hit the ground running, training Tuesday morning.
02:24What does Ruben say is expected of you and how do you see yourself kind of fitting into what they want?
02:32Yeah, look, it's been obviously a mad couple of weeks in terms of the squad not being all together and stuff.
02:38But for me, the gaffer wants me to come in, help the boys, use my experience, use my leadership qualities and help the boys just to gel.
02:50Because the quality is there, the talent and the actual squad is a top draw squad.
02:56We know that everyone knows that a championship is such a relentless league.
02:59So, look, it only takes one little turn and we're hoping to make that turn now on Friday evening.
03:06I saw some quotes from you in sort of prepping to come and see you again about how at Luton you were, as a group,
03:13taken by surprise of the competitiveness of the championship.
03:17Is that something that you'd bring here to impart to your new teammates?
03:21Look, we need to be careful here.
03:22Yeah, it's part of my learning from last year was that a championship is a dogfight.
03:29You know, it's not always pretty and it's not always goes your way.
03:36We got dragged into that and that showed the character of the boys.
03:40And it's something I've learned and something that I'm going to bring to the boys
03:44and make sure what I learned from last year doesn't happen again.
