00:03The nation's cultural diversity was on full display at the Malaysia Day celebration in Butterworth,
00:08where the sights, sounds and traditions of its many communities
00:12delighted thousands of visitors through performances, exhibitions and cultural showcases.
00:21This year's celebration, themed Malaysia Madani Rakyat di Santuni,
00:24featured a vibrant line-up of activities reflecting the nation's unity and artistic heritage.
00:29One of the highlights was Rentak Tradisi Pulau Mutiara,
00:32a spectacular performance blending Penang's iconic art forms,
00:36Joget Jogi, Chinese Opera and Borea, brought to life by more than 200 dancers.
00:44Traditional performances from Sabah and Sarawak further enriched the evening.
00:49The event also featured the symbolic signing of the Proclamation of Malaysia Book by national leaders,
00:54followed by a cake-cutting ceremony.
00:56Earlier in the day, exhibitions drew strong crowds,
00:59with the Penang Library, the largest exhibitor,
01:02offering samples of traditional food and biscuits,
01:05while showcasing historic newspaper editions from 1963, the year Malaysia was formed.
01:11At the launch, Prime Minister Datuk Sri Anwar Ibrahim stressed that
01:14Malaysia's progress must be rooted in values as much as development.
