Actor, director, and activist Robert Redford dies at 89. The Hollywood icon and founder of the Sundance Film Festival, died earlier today at his home in Utah. He was best known for his work in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and All the President's Men , as well as for directing classics such as Ordinary People and A River Runs Through It . His passing was revealed in a statement by his publicist, writing 'Robert Redford passed away on September 16, 2025, at his home at Sundance in the mountains of Utah-the place he loved, surrounded by those he loved. He will be missed greatly.' Aside from his work in film, Redford was also a passionate environmental activist. His cause of death has yet to be revealed.
