00:00On Thursday in France, unions went on strike against the austerity measures implemented by Emmanuel Macron's government.
00:08Hundreds of thousands of people took part in protest against imminent budget cuts that continue to happen.

00:24increased spending on public services, higher taxes on the wealthy and the reversal of an unpopular change,
00:32making people work longer to get a pension.
00:36The gathering included teachers and representatives from various sectors of the workforce,
00:41while teenagers also blocked dozens of high schools.
00:45Some 80,000 police and gendarmes were set to be deployed throughout the day,
00:50including riot units, drones and armored vehicles.
00:54According to police reports, more than 90 people have already been arrested in various locations.
