As the weather warms up beachside residents are being warned to keep their windows and doors closed to protect against the toxic algae plaguing South Australia's coastline. It's the latest health advice from the State Government which is still firming up its plans to manage the natural disaster through summer.

00:00Foam at beaches has suddenly become part of day-to-day life with 30% of the state's coastline now contaminated by the toxic algal bloom.
00:12The foam has been ridiculous, it's been horrible.
00:15Some say they're noticing impacts on their health.
00:19In fact I've been coughing and I've had a sore throat and a bad cough and a sore chest the last few days.
00:25And I'm just presuming it's the horrible air that the foam is adding to.
00:32SA Health's issued fresh warnings for locals.
00:35We've given additional advice to those people about keeping the windows and doors closed particularly if there's an onshore breeze.
00:41But stresses there are no long-term side effects.
00:45Be aware that you might get some symptoms but short-lived.
00:48There are no plans to close beaches for now. Instead people are being encouraged to make informed decisions.
00:54It is a much more practical way of dealing with this situation to give people the actual advice that they can make that decision themselves.
01:02The government says it will announce its summer plan next month but the opposition says South Australians deserve to know more now.
01:10People need certainty. Businesses need certainty.
01:13And that's why we're also renewing our calls for the government to deliver this summer plan now.
