00:00Excellencies, that is why today's conference and the New York Declaration are so crucial.

00:14The message we are sending today is, no, we are not giving up.

00:20The international community does not only remain committed to the two-state solution,

00:25we are also identifying tangible, time-bound and irreversible steps for its realization.

00:34And we are willing to take decisive measures and provide international guarantees.

00:39And let's be clear, statehood for the Palestinians is a right, not a reward.

00:45And denying statehood would be a gift to extremists everywhere.

00:57The time has come. This is why, true to the historic commitment of my country to the Middle East,

01:08to peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians,

01:14this is why I declare that today France recognizes the state of Palestine.

01:20We must break this cycle of violence and build something better.

01:30Yesterday, Australia recognized the state of Palestine.

01:38Slovenia has acted. We recognize Palestine together with Ireland, Norway and Spain.

01:44We call for a permanent ceasefire, the release of all hostages and the protection of all civilians.

01:50We insist that humanitarian aid must flow into Gaza.

01:54Thank you, Chair. Thank you, Your Excellencies, President Macron and Prince Faisal.

02:00I stand before you today beneath the emblem of the United Nations

02:07to confirm the historic decision of the British government to recognize the state of Palestine.

02:18Pope Leo said, we cannot abandon the hope for peace.

02:22Italy strongly supports the dream of the Palestinian people to have a state.

02:27We will continue to support the Palestinian Authority in its reform.

02:31Canada recognizes the state of Palestine.

02:34And we offer our full partnership in building the promise of a peaceful future

02:53for both the state of Palestine and the state of Israel.

02:57Let me begin by stating clearly and unequivocally

03:02that the Republic of Malta is proud to confirm our official recognition of Palestinian statehood.

03:12As the U.N. marks the 80th anniversary,

03:17we call on all member states to recognize Palestine

03:21and to act in solidarity with its people.

03:24To restore the prospects of a two-state solution we call,

03:31firstly, for global recognition of Palestine and its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

03:38Secondly, the immediate ceasefire

03:40and an end to the genocide

03:44and the release of hostages by Hamas

03:47and prisoners by Israel.

03:49Thirdly, the full respect for international law,

03:55including the respect for U.N. resolutions and opinions

03:59and the decisions of the International Court of Justice.

04:03That is why I solemnly declare

04:07that as of today,

04:09Luxembourg formally recognizes the state of Palestine.

04:13I congratulate all the countries that have decided to recognize the state of Palestine

04:21for honoring the voice of justice and of conscience.

04:26I hope that this step,

04:28along with the initiatives to be undertaken in the coming period,

04:31will accelerate the implementation of a two-state solution.

04:35I commend those who have taken the decision to recognize the state of Palestine this week

04:40and I strongly urge those who have yet to do so

04:43to give it serious consideration.

04:45We know that there are people,

04:47including in the Israeli government,

04:49who are working daily to make that outcome impossible.

04:52In addition to the destruction of Gaza,

04:55settlements are expanding every day

04:57and illegal settlers in the West Bank

04:59are increasingly emboldened and militant.

05:02If we do not move now to protect the two-state solution,

05:07if we do not work to build a process through which it can be achieved,

05:10there may never be another opportunity.

05:13That must not be our legacy to future generations.

05:17Ireland is ready to play its part

05:19and I look forward to our continuing steadfast cooperation.

05:24Therefore, Belgium is giving out a strong political and diplomatic signal

05:29to the world today

05:30by joining the group of countries

05:32that announces the recognition of the state of Palestine

05:36in the margin of this high-level week

05:38of the United Nations General Assembly.

05:44The recognition of the state of Palestine

05:46is the right step on the right side of history.

05:52To those who have yet to act,

05:56we say history does not stand still.

06:02We must recognize Palestine now.

06:04We must stop the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

06:11Ending the war must be our utmost priority.

06:14We must overcome hatred, fear.

06:19We must overcome suspicion.

06:23We must achieve the peace that is necessary for the human family.

06:31Excellencies, ladies and gentlemen,
