Transcript
00:0020 years ago, Hurricane Rita struck the Gulf Coast.
00:03In the shadow of Katrina, Hurricane Rita still carved a devastating path,
00:09driving a 15-foot storm surge in southwestern Louisiana
00:13and forcing one of the largest evacuations in U.S. history.
00:18In Texas, fears turned to the oil and gas hub around Galveston Bay.
00:24We are in Baytown, Texas, on the north shore of Galveston Bay.
00:30And I am happy to report that the oil refineries are still standing
00:34after Hurricane Rita came ashore yesterday.
00:38All kidding aside, that is very good news.
00:42Rita spared the onshore refineries from catastrophic loss,
00:45but its damage to the offshore rigs and the energy grid
00:48rippled across the country for weeks.
