Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim defended Malaysia’s decision to invite US President Donald Trump to the 47th Asean Summit in Kuala Lumpur in October, saying the diplomatic platform will be used to continue voicing Malaysia’s strong support for Palestine and condemning atrocities in Gaza.
Speaking at the Wira Madani Roadshow and the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) in Sandakan, Sabah, on Saturday (Sept 27), Anwar stressed that while Malaysia is a small nation, its principled foreign policy, sound governance and independent stance have earned global respect, enabling it to mediate in regional conflicts and attract visits from major powers like China and the US.
