00:00What's up guys, my name is Ryan and I've spent the last few summers exploring the wonderful
00:05country of Italy and I want to show you my favorite places so here is my Italy top 10.
00:18Italy has to be one of my all time favorite countries.
00:21It's home to some of the world's most fascinating history, stunning towns, and pure Mediterranean
00:26vibes from the jagged peaks of the Dolomites to the jaw dropping coast of Sardinia, Italy
00:31has it all.
00:32Let's start this video off at the incredible Amalfi Coast.
00:35I have to say this is one of the most beautiful places not just in Italy but all of Europe.
00:41The Amalfi Coast is located in southern Italy about a 3 hours drive from Rome.
00:45It's just hard to believe this place exists.
00:47Now one of the most well known towns on the Amalfi Coast is Positano.
00:51When you see this place in real life you won't believe it.
00:54It's hard to beat the backdrop of the mountains filled with colorful villas against the Mediterranean
00:58sea filled with boats and yachts.
01:00If you can handle the skinny roads I definitely recommend just driving along the whole entire
01:05coastline and seeing all the beautiful towns.
01:07One notable place on the coast is the city of Atrani.
01:10It's one of the best preserved medieval towns on the Amalfi Coast.
01:13If you want a more adventurous activity you can take a hike on the path of the gods.
01:18Special thanks to my friend Logan Armstrong for helping me out with footage.
01:22He has an awesome vlog of the Amalfi Coast that I'll link in the description below.
01:27Anyways the path of the gods is a 6-kilometer trail that takes you above the cliffs of the
01:31coast.
01:32You will get some of the most jaw-dropping views, I mean just unreal.
01:35Now the best time to visit the Amalfi Coast is around May or early fall.
01:38You'll be able to miss the summer crowds while still enjoying the warm Mediterranean weather.
01:44Now just off the coast there's an incredible island called Capri.
01:47Now to get to Capri you can take a 45 minute ferry from Naples for around 20 euros.
01:51Now one of my favorite features of the island is the Faraglione.
01:55It's an impressive sea stack that juts out of the island.
01:58There's this little archway.
01:59If you're sandy you can drive a boat through.
02:01When you do go to Capri I definitely recommend renting a boat.
02:05That'll be the best way you can see the entire island and find all its hidden grottos and
02:09just jaw-dropping coastline.
02:10Now after Capri and the Amalfi Coast we're going to head up to Northern Italy to visit
02:14the Dolomites.
02:15I spent several weeks exploring the Dolomites and I consider it to be some of the greatest
02:20days of my life.
02:21One of my favorite places in the Dolomites is Ciceta.
02:24The green grass slopes contrasted with the jagged mountain ridge makes for one of the most
02:29unbelievable landscape combos in the world.
02:31Now to get to Ciceta I took two gondolas up the mountain and made it to the top.
02:35When I got there the clouds covered half the mountain making it from one of the best views
02:39I've ever gotten and places like this just really spark your imagination and make you
02:44feel like a kid again.
02:45I hope everyone can witness the power of Ciceta at least once in a life.
02:49Now another magical place nearby is Alpe de Susi.
02:53It's home to the largest high alpine meadow in Europe.
02:55The backdrop of the Sassolungo mountain with the farm huts creates a scene straight out
03:00of a dream.
03:01Another must visit place in the Dolomites is Trechimi de Lavaredo.
03:05Now I love this place so much.
03:06I spent four days exploring the area I mean there's just so much to see here.
03:10The Dolomites will have a special place in my heart and I hope you all can visit them
03:14one day.
03:15Now after hiking the Dolomites we're going to head over to Lake Como.
03:18Now located at the base of the Alps Lake Como is a sight to see.
03:22The lake is shaped like an upside down letter Y and it's known for its picturesque scenery
03:27and luxury villas.
03:28Lake Como has been named one of the world's most beautiful lakes and I totally understand why.
03:32Now when you're there you can walk the streets of Bellagio or take a ferry to the other lakeside
03:37villages.
03:38Celebrities such as George Clooney have a village here.
03:40I mean hey if I had the money I'd probably buy one too.
03:43After Lake Como we're going to head to the coast to visit Cinque Terre.
03:47Now Cinque Terre is made up of five seaside villages that date back to medieval times.
03:52The small fishing villages have lined the coast for thousands of years.
03:55During the middle ages the villages started to be attacked from pirates so fortifying walls
04:00were built to protect them from any future raids.
04:03Now the small town of Vernazza is one of my favorites.
04:06It has the only natural port of Cinque Terre and remains one of the truest fishing villages
04:11on the Italian Riviera and I just can't get over these colorful houses and the beauty of
04:15these cities.
04:16It's just hard to beat the charm of these Italian villages.
04:19After Cinque Terre we're going to head to the second largest island in the mediterranean,
04:23Sardinia.
04:24With some of Europe's best coastline, pristine beaches, and the clearest water I've ever
04:28seen, Sardinia is the place you gotta go.
04:31Now one of the most impressive spots on Sardinia is the Boundé coast.
04:35It's 40 kilometers of coastline that's made up of massive limestone cliffs and secluded
04:40beaches.
04:41Now special thanks to my friend The Dronebook for helping out with footage.
04:43He has one of the best videos on Sardinia and I'll link it in the description below.
04:47There's so many great places in it.
04:49Now the Boundé coast isn't the easiest place to reach.
04:52Most places require a hike or a boat ride so if you go I definitely recommend renting
04:57a boat so you can see all the coasts.
04:59Now one of my favorite places is Cala Gororice.
05:01It has this insane rock formation coupled with crystal clear water.
05:05I mean I would just do anything, be cruising on a boat there right now.
05:08I mean it's just a freaking paradise there.
05:10Now after Sardinia we're going to head back to the mainland to visit Italy's capital
05:14of Rome.
05:15Now Rome may be one of the most famous and iconic capitals in the world.
05:19Its history spans over 28 centuries with its founding taking place in 753 BC.
05:26Ancient Rome's architecture stands today and draws millions of tours each year.
05:30One of the most well known structures of the capital is the Colosseum.
05:33It's this oval shaped amphitheater that was completed in 80 AD.
05:37It was the largest amphitheater built and could hold anywhere from 50 to 80,000 spectators.
05:42You can just marvel its structure from the outside or take a guided tour to witness the
05:47interior.
05:48One of my favorite attractions is the Trevi Fountain.
05:50It's a baroque styled fountain that was built in 1762.
05:53I mean there's just so much to see in Rome.
05:55I hope you can all visit it one day.
05:57After Rome we're going to head south to visit the region of Puglia.
06:01Now located on the boot hill of Italy, Puglia is a region famous for its whitewashed towns
06:06and magnificent coastline.
06:07One of my favorite places in Puglia is Pugliano Amare.
06:12It's a stunning town right on the Adriatic coast.
06:14What I love about it is how the city is built right on the sea cliffs.
06:17I mean they're just on there so perfectly that it looks like they're going to fall off.
06:21There's some restaurants built into the caves on the sea cliffs.
06:24I mean it's just such a cool spot.
06:26One of the most famous places in the city is Cala Porto.
06:29It's probably the most recognized place in all of Puglia.
06:31It's a stunning beach that's surrounded by cliffs coupled with crystal clear mediterranean
06:37water.
06:38I mean just pure paradise there.
06:39Afterwards we're going to head to the island of Sicily.
06:41Now Sicily is the largest island in the mediterranean.
06:44It's just full of culture and fascinating history.
06:47One of the most impressive places on the island is the valley of the temples.
06:51Located in the town of Agrigento, it's one of the world's most stunning examples of
06:55Greek architecture.
06:56There were seven temples built here by the Greeks in the 5th century BC.
07:01Unfortunately they were burnt down by the Carthaginians but rebuilt by the Romans 4 centuries later.
07:06One of the most well preserved is the temple of Concordia.
07:09It features the classic Greek pillars.
07:11I mean it just makes you wonder what this must have looked like when it was first built.
07:15While we're still in Sicily we're going to head over to the city of Catania.
07:19What's crazy about Catania is that it lies at the base of the massive Mount Etna volcano
07:24which is 3,326 meters tall.
07:27It's one of the world's most active volcanoes.
07:29I mean just wild to see the ash shooting out the top.
07:32What a crazy yet beautiful city.
07:34Afterwards we're going to head up north to the incredible region of Tuscany.
07:38Now located in central Italy, Tuscany is known for its landscapes, history, and artistic legacy.
07:43I mean I've been obsessed with Tuscany ever since I've seen the gladiator.
07:46It's a land full of rolling golden hills dotted with countless little hilltop towns.
07:51I mean it would just be so cool to retire here and live on a Tuscan farm.
07:55One of my favorite cities in Tuscany is San Gimignano.
07:57Now San Gimignano is a stunning medieval city perched upon a hill.
08:01One of the most iconic features of the city is the medieval watchtowers.
08:05Currently there are 14 watchtowers still standing but during its prime there were over 72 towers
08:10with the highest being 230 feet tall.
08:13The towers were built as a result of competing families who wanted to build the tallest and
08:17most grand tower.
08:18I can't imagine how it must have looked like back then.
08:21I guess you could say it was the Manhattan of the middle ages.
08:24San Gimignano's medieval vibe has been a touch throughout time and has become one of
08:28the most popular medieval locations in all of Italy.
08:31After San Gimignano we're going to head to the capital of Tuscany to visit the iconic
08:35city of Florence.
08:36I have to say that Florence is my favorite city in all of Italy and considered to be the
08:41birthplace of the renaissance.
08:43One of the most impressive buildings is the Florence cathedral.
08:46When you look at it you just can't believe how big it is.
08:48It was completed in 1436 and it just amazes me that they were able to engineer such a big
08:54dome back then.
08:55The Ponte Vecchio bridge is another historic site as it crosses the Arno river.
09:00I mean I just can't say enough good things about Florence.
09:02It's such an incredible city.
09:04Well that is it for my Italy top 10 and there's just so many places in Italy.
09:08I could do a top 100 list.
09:10Hopefully I can spend some time there this summer so be expecting a part 2.
