00:00Have you ever wondered if you're the smartest person in the room, your office, or maybe even
00:08your hometown? That's like a dumb idea. Think you'd be smarter than half the country? Top 10%?
00:14Or maybe even the top 1%? God, I hope so. Doesn't matter where you went to school or what you do for
00:20a living. I am in business development, so really just that means I guess free dinners and lots of
00:25drinks. Thank you for your honesty. The 1% Club levels the playing field for everyone. Before the show, we asked people from all over the United States a list of our unique questions that are designed to test logic, common sense, and how our brain actually works. What animal is represented by combining the two images below? Tonight, we'll be asking those exact questions to our 100 contestants, beginning with the easiest one that 90% of America got right, and ending with the hardest
00:55question that only 1% of the American public answered correctly. At the start of each show, every contestant is given a $1,000 stick. If they get any question wrong, they're out of the game, and their $1,000 goes into the prize pot.
01:09We lost 36 of you. It's a bloodbath out here. Whoever gets the furthest tonight gets the chance to answer the final 1% question and take home up to $100,000.
01:19I'll be doing the asking tonight, and here doing the answering are these 100 contestants.
01:28I'm Joel McHale, and it's time to play the 1% Club.
01:34Guys, I love my job, but I also don't get paid overtime, so let's get this thing moving. Good luck.
01:40Let's go!
01:41Yo!
01:42We begin with our 90% question.
01:45One out of every 10 people we pulled got this wrong. Let's see how you guys do.
01:54Ariel doesn't like chocolate ice cream. Bella only likes chocolate ice cream, and it has to have sprinkles.
01:59And Callie doesn't like ice cream at all. Who would be happy with this ice cream?
02:04Your time starts now.
02:05All I know is I'm not going to make it through this shift at the ice cream parlor. These ladies are killing me.
02:17Callie, what? What do you want?
02:19All right, your time is up. Now let's see how many of you got the question right, and how many of you are out of the game.
02:37We lost three of you on that question, which means we have 97 of you left. Here's the answer.
02:57A. Ariel. Bella only likes chocolate ice cream, and Callie doesn't like ice cream at all, so only Ariel would be happy with this ice cream.
03:06Let's talk to somebody who got it wrong. Terry.
03:09Oh, man.
03:10Terry.
03:11I know. I know.
03:13All right, well, that's good.
03:14Yeah.
03:15We all know, and now everyone at home knows.
03:18I know. The world.
03:19So how did you not come to the right answer?
03:22So I read it, and I said I know the answer, and my finger just touched the wrong button.
03:28You knew the answer, but your fingers were like, no way, man.
03:31These things got, they just do sometimes what they want, man.
03:34What do you do, Terry?
03:35I own a restaurant.
03:37So when somebody orders, like, a steak, your fingers are like, they're getting the chicken right now.
03:41My mom's told me I was special, so.
03:45All right, Terry, thank you for playing.
03:47Okay, let's talk to somebody who got it right.
03:49Sherry.
03:50Hi.
03:50Oh, hey, Sherry.
03:52You got it right.
03:54Barely.
03:54Oh.
03:55How did you barely get it right?
03:57I was so nervous that I had to read it, like, five times.
04:00Mm-hmm.
04:00The only one that makes sense is the vanilla cone.
04:04But the answer was Ariel.
04:07You were trying to put vanilla cone the whole time?
04:11Kind of, sort of.
04:13Sherry, who's cheering you on at home tonight?
04:15My man, my man, my man.
04:17Who's a woman?
04:18So you have three husbands and a wife?
04:23Does anybody know what's going on?
04:26I have an ex-husband, but I have a wonderful girlfriend at home.
04:30All right, all right, all right, all right.
04:31People are like, that all makes sense.
04:33Sherry, thanks for being here.
04:34Thank you for having me.
04:36Okay, the $1,000 of everyone who got the question wrong just magically flew out of their pockets
04:41and into the prize pot, which is now at $3,000.
04:47There you go.
04:48Yo!
04:49Believe me, it is going to go way up from there.
04:52The next question is tougher, especially if you try to chew it.
04:56I give you the 80% question.
05:01Although some have been rotated, three of these pictures of paint splatters contain the exact same shapes.
05:08Which one is different?
05:09Your time starts now.
05:17And if I wake up with all these on my bedsheets, how worried should I be, guys?
05:31Your time is up.
05:33Let us shine the dim blue light upon those who answered incorrectly.
05:39We lost six of you on that question, which means we've got 91 of you left.
05:56And the correct answer is D.
06:00In D, the blue splatter has been moved, and the yellow and green ones are also different.
06:06Let's go!
06:07Let's talk to somebody who got it wrong.
06:10Divine, you look really good in the blue light.
06:13No.
06:14I don't want to look good in blue light.
06:16How did you think you were going to do tonight?
06:17I thought I was going to make it to 1%, honestly.
06:21Really?
06:21You weren't even close.
06:24What would you have done with the money?
06:26I had planned on buying a couple of hundred wigs and building a wig closet in my home.
06:32You would have bought a couple hundred wigs.
06:34This is my smart girl wig that I'm wearing now.
06:36Well, 80% smart wig.
06:42Thank you for being here and being in good sports.
06:44All right, let's talk to somebody who got it right.
06:47Tyler Seath.
06:48Yeah.
06:49What's up, y'all?
06:50How are you?
06:51Hey.
06:53Tyler, what do you do for work?
06:55I'm a full-time dad now.
06:57Okay.
06:57And I've also been on a couple of reality shows, so I feel pretty good.
06:59What reality shows were you on?
07:01I've been on Big Brother and The Challenge.
07:03How did you do on Big Brother?
07:05We don't got to talk about it.
07:07How did you do on The Challenge?
07:08I've lost every single show I've ever done, Joel, so that's why I'm here.
07:12All right.
07:13Well, Tyler, this might be the show you finally win.
07:16I'm hoping, man.
07:17But I got to pee really bad right now, so I don't know.
07:19Let it fly, dude.
07:20All right, here we go.
07:21The prize pot added another $6,000 and now stands at $9,000.
07:30And now, in keeping with game show tradition, the next question is harder.
07:35Here is the 70% question.
07:41How many motor vehicles are pictured here?
07:44Your time starts now.
07:46Wow, the Fast and Furious movies have officially run out of steam.
07:54Your time is up, everybody.
08:07Let's see who now is dead in terms of gameplay.
08:12We lost three of you on that question, which means we have 88 of you left.
08:32All right.
08:35Here's the answer.
08:37Eight.
08:38Let's go.
08:38There are seven cars being hauled, but you also have to count the car carrier, which makes
08:43a total of eight vehicles.
08:45Let's talk to someone who got the question right.
08:47Hannah from Atlanta.
08:48Oh, Hannah from Atlanta.
08:49Hi.
08:49There you are.
08:50Hannah from Atlanta.
08:51You got it right.
08:51Yeah, I did.
08:52So, because I got the question right.
08:58Wait, you make that noise in celebration?
09:02Yeah, it's a tiger growl.
09:03If you were to win a marathon, you'd cross the line and go...
09:07Terrifying.
09:10Does anyone else here think they have a better crazy noise than that?
09:14What?
09:19What's your name?
09:20Queen.
09:21Nice to meet you.
09:28And what's your name?
09:29Noelle.
09:30Oh, hi.
09:31All right.
09:31And now let's hear them all together.
09:33Ready?
09:38That's amazing.
09:39It's a normal game show.
09:41Fox executives are like, are they playing a game show at some point?
09:45All right.
09:46The prize pot is now at...
09:49$12,000, everybody.
09:51Only going to get bigger from there.
09:54Here is your 60% question.
09:58Billy is writing out the names of different numbers using Popsicle sticks.
10:03He is using one Popsicle stick per stroke, as you can see in this example.
10:08Nine.
10:08Which of the options below will use exactly nine Popsicle sticks to spell its number?
10:13Your time starts now.
10:23And should we be concerned about Billy's Popsicle consumption?
10:27Your time is up.
10:41Let's see you got the question wrong.
10:43We just lost 17 of you on that question.
11:02You guys were doing so well, now it's a bloodbath.
11:05All right.
11:07Here's the answer.
11:09C.
11:10Let's go.
11:11Yo.
11:13Let me read the answer.
11:15The number one needs 11 Popsicle sticks and five needs 10.
11:20The word 10 uses exactly nine Popsicle sticks.
11:24All right.
11:24Where's our let's go guy?
11:25What's your name, sir?
11:26Marcus.
11:27One more time, Marcus.
11:29Let's go.
11:33Yeah.
11:33All right.
11:33Great.
11:35Talk to somebody who got it wrong.
11:37Leon, you're so surprised you got it wrong.
11:40Literally thought I was going to win.
11:42You thought you were going to win the whole thing.
11:44And I was going to take the money and run.
11:47What were you going to do with the money?
11:48I was going to put the money towards cultivating my slime business.
11:52If you had won like 98 grand, you would have bought glue and glitter.
11:57Yeah.
11:58I love slime.
11:58So that's super fun to play with.
12:00Leon, what do you do for a living?
12:02I am an all-star cheerleading coach.
12:05This is the least shocking thing I've ever heard.
12:08All right.
12:09Leon, thank you for being here.
12:11Enjoy watching a bunch of other people making money.
12:14All right.
12:15How much do we have in the prize pod?
12:18$29,000.
12:2071 contestants remain.
12:22Who will take home our prize pod?
12:24For legal reasons, it can't be me, which is a bummer.
12:27But I'm having fun anyway.
12:28More 1% Club after this, only on Fox.
12:41Welcome back to the 1% Club, which is like Thunderdome for nerds.
12:45And if you got that reference, congrats.
12:47You're a nerd.
12:48We started the game with 100 contestants, and there are now 71, with a prize pod of $29,000
12:55and growing.
12:56For all of you that have survived up to this point, I've got great news for you.
13:00For any of the next 10 questions, you can use the $1,000 we gave you to pay for a pass
13:06and move on to the next question.
13:07You can only do this once, and your $1,000 will go straight into the prize pod.
13:12So use your pass wisely.
13:15Five questions in, and we haven't even gotten to the driving, maneuverability, and parallel
13:19parking tests.
13:21But first, a question only half the people polled got right.
13:24The 50% question, everyone.
13:30Which word in this sentence should be broken into smaller words?
13:34Your time starts now.
13:35Look, I don't know the answer.
13:45All I know is that is so Carol.
14:01Contestants, your time is up.
14:03Let's see who answered correctly and who did not.
14:19We just lost 13 of you on that question, which means we got 58 of you left.
14:27Four of you used your pass.
14:29Here's the answer.
14:31Together.
14:31Together must read to get her if the sentence is going to make any sense.
14:37Let's talk to somebody who got it wrong.
14:39Marcus, you've been screaming, let's go, every time you get it right.
14:43Real enthusiastic.
14:44We're not going anywhere now.
14:45Yeah.
14:47Well, do you want to say a let's go for everybody else?
14:49I'm still cheering for everybody, man.
14:51Hopefully somebody gets this $100,000.
14:53So everybody, let's go!
14:54Thank you, Marcus.
14:57Let's see how much money is in the prize pot now, everyone.
15:00It's all the way up to $46,000.
15:04Very respectable amounts.
15:06But we all know that Joel McHale just doesn't do respectable.
15:10Let's keep it going with the 45% question.
15:12Which of these folds into a cube where the circles are opposite the stars and the triangles are opposite themselves?
15:23Your time starts now.
15:25These are all forms of robot pornography.
15:50That is time, everybody.
15:52Who will soon be squealing in delight or groaning in agony?
16:12We lost 17 of you on that question, which means we've got 41 of you left and 27 of you used your pass.
16:21This is the most passes we have had used on a question all season.
16:27All right, here's the answer.
16:30C.
16:31In A, all the symbols are opposite themselves.
16:34B, wouldn't fold correctly into a cube.
16:37So the answer is C.
16:39Let's talk to one of my favorite contestants, Sherry.
16:42I'm so sad.
16:43Man, oh, man, oh, man, oh, man, uh, woman.
16:46No.
16:49Sherry, what did you put?
16:50I did A because I thought everything was supposed to be opposite of each other.
16:54But when I picked my answer, I was like, that answer is too easy.
16:58Like, it can't be A.
16:59So I just, it's all good.
17:02Well, it's really not.
17:04I know, it's not.
17:05It's not.
17:06You got pretty far.
17:08And I'm very proud of myself.
17:09Like, honestly, when I have my watch party, my friends are going to be very proud of me.
17:13Yeah, just turn it off one question before.
17:16Well, Sherry, thank you.
17:19How much do we have in the prize pot?
17:22$88,000.
17:25Only four out of every ten Americans we pulled answered this one correctly.
17:30It's the 40% question.
17:32Each of the colored eggs contains one hidden letter.
17:38The blue eggs contain letters from A to I.
17:41The green eggs contain letters from J to Q.
17:44And the red eggs contain the letters from R to Z.
17:48Which carton below is the only one that could contain the word excellent?
17:53Your time starts now.
18:02Trust me, you do not want to see the chickens that laid these eggs, guys.
18:19That is time, everybody.
18:21Let's see who answered correctly and who did not.
18:26Blue light, do it.
18:32We lost 13 of you on that question, which means we've got 28 left and two of you used your pass.
18:48Here's the answer.
18:49B, the letters in the word excellent contain four blue, three green, and two red eggs.
18:56If I was put on a desert island with that question, I would die of old age.
19:00Let's talk to someone who didn't get it.
19:02Tyler C., you've just lost another reality show.
19:07Tyler, what happened?
19:08I didn't even know I was blue.
19:10I thought I got it right.
19:10I was like, oh.
19:11Sorry, guys.
19:12Which was more work, this or Big Brother?
19:14This is tough, man.
19:15Well, you're a very good sport there, Tyler.
19:17Thank you, Joel.
19:18And I hope you stay warm.
19:20All right, let's talk to someone else who didn't get it.
19:22Lauren E.
19:24What does E stand for, Lauren?
19:25Einstein, which I clearly am not.
19:28Are you related to Albert Einstein?
19:30No.
19:32What would you have done with the money?
19:33I grew up riding horses, and I would love to have a horse again.
19:37Well, even though you haven't won the money and can't win it anymore, we do have a solution
19:42for you.
19:43Noelle, would you please do me the honor?
19:49Lauren, thank you for being here.
19:50All right, let's see what that did to the prize pot.
19:55$92,000.
19:57That is a lot of money.
19:59Guys, there is no rest for the wicked or for a bunch of people on a game show.
20:04Here now is your 35% question.
20:10What is the fewest number of people that need to move seats so that no one is sitting next
20:16to another person vertically or horizontally in this movie theater?
20:21Your time starts now.
20:30And which seat will Nicole Kidman sit in and blather about the magic of cinema?
20:35That is time, everybody.
20:49Let's see who got that one right and, you know, who got it wrong.
20:52We lost three of you on that question, which means we've got 25 of you left and two of
21:10you used your pass.
21:12Here's the answer.
21:14Same number of people we lost.
21:15Three.
21:16Even though there are a variety of ways to move seats, three is the fewest moves possible.
21:22Let's talk to somebody who it didn't make sense to.
21:25Sydney?
21:26Hi, Joel.
21:27Gotten really far in the game.
21:28Did you think you would do this well?
21:30I thought I'd do better.
21:31You thought you'd win?
21:32Yes.
21:32Are you here with anyone tonight?
21:34Yeah, that's my ex-husband.
21:35Brandon.
21:36Oh.
21:37So you're not here with someone tonight.
21:41Uh, Brandon, are you dating now?
21:43Yeah.
21:43Oh, okay.
21:44You cool with that, Sydney?
21:45Absolutely.
21:46Better her than me.
21:47What did you say?
21:50I was just kidding.
21:51I, he's great.
21:52I was just kidding.
21:53Oh, I see.
21:54This is why you guys broke up.
21:56Right.
21:57All right, Brandon, Sydney, thank you.
21:59Thanks, Joel.
22:00Let's see how much the prize pot has grown.
22:05$94,000!
22:08Next, we turn up the heat and boil our contestant pool down to the smartest of the smart.
22:13Don't worry, that boiling you alive thing is probably just a metaphor.
22:16More 1% Club after this.
22:19Welcome back to the 1% Club.
22:31During the break, I memorized every one of our remaining contestants' names.
22:35Now I just have to put the names and faces together, and I'll be a real host.
22:40We've got $94,000 in the prize pot, and we're left with 25 contestants.
22:46Six of you still have your pass.
22:48Very good.
22:49You've held on to it.
22:50All right.
22:50Right now, you can either keep going and hope to make it to the 1% question and win up to
22:55$100,000, or you can take a guaranteed $1,000 right now and leave the show.
23:01Please make your decision now.
23:12One of you has decided to take the $1,000 and leave the show.
23:16Susie, you've decided to take the $1,000 and go.
23:19I sure did.
23:19All right.
23:22Susie, you made it more than halfway through the game.
23:25Have you fulfilled your dream of going halfway on a game show?
23:30I fulfilled my dream of leaving with money, so.
23:33Yeah, guaranteed.
23:35All right.
23:36Okay.
23:38Marcus, can you just yell, go?
23:40Go!
23:42Nice job, Susie.
23:44Guys, you've aced all the other questions and left me no choice but to give you one that
23:50only three out of every ten people answered right.
23:53Here's the 30% question.
23:55Place the rings inside one another so they fit perfectly and then decipher the answer
24:05to the question that's written on them.
24:07Your time starts now.
24:17I use this same technique to ask my wife to marry me, guys.
24:25That is time.
24:35Let's see who's getting the old 30% question brush off.
24:38We lost four of you on that question, which means we've got 20 of you left and no one
24:56used their pass.
24:58You can feel it in here.
25:00All right, here's the answer.
25:03One.
25:04The question written on the rings reads, how many rings are actually green?
25:08The answer to that question is one.
25:11All right, let's talk to somebody who got it right.
25:13Andine.
25:13Hey, Joel.
25:14Hey, Andine.
25:15Hi.
25:15So, did it seem easy?
25:18It felt like it was too easy.
25:19So I was going to put the wrong answer, but I'm glad I kept my answer.
25:23Okay, because the producer just told me you answered it in less than five seconds.
25:26Oh, really?
25:27Well, that's...
25:27Did I get anything for that?
25:28No.
25:28What do you do for work?
25:33I'm a divorce attorney.
25:34Are you married?
25:35No, I'm not.
25:36Okay.
25:36But I would still do it.
25:37I'd get married.
25:38You'd be set up if you needed a divorce, right?
25:41Oh, yeah.
25:41Yeah, I'd go bad for the other guys.
25:43Yeah.
25:44I'd be good.
25:45Well, Andine, thank you for being here.
25:47You are in the game.
25:48Yes, thank you.
25:49Marcus?
25:50Let's go!
25:51Let's see the prize pot.
25:52Well, $94,000.
25:55Everyone who is eliminated already used their passes so the prize pot stays the same.
25:59It always throws me for a loop when it doesn't...
26:01It just goes, yeah, Joe, we're still here at $94,000.
26:05This next question is known as the Widowmaker because that sounds a little cooler than just a percentage.
26:10Here is the 25% question.
26:16The weight of all these coins combined is nine ounces.
26:20Real coins weigh one ounce.
26:22Fake ones weigh half an ounce.
26:23One of the groups pictured is made up entirely of fake coins.
26:28Which group is the fake?
26:30Your time starts now.
26:41This is how I receive my paycheck for hosting the show.
26:44Time is up, everybody.
26:58Let's see who got it right and who got it wrong.
27:01We just lost three of you on that question, which means we have 17 of you left, and only one of you used your pass.
27:21Here's the answer.
27:22B, group two.
27:24If all the coins were real, the total weight would be 10 ounces.
27:28The weight is off by one ounce, which equals two half-ounce fake coins.
27:33Group two is the only group of two coins.
27:37Let's talk to somebody you got it right.
27:38Jessie B.
27:39Hi, Joel.
27:40Yeah, I did.
27:41Do you think you're going to win this entire game?
27:43No.
27:44You still have your pass.
27:46I know.
27:46I don't know how.
27:48What are you going to do with the money if you win it all?
27:50I'm obsessed with Chick-fil-A, so I would hire a personal driver to get me Chick-fil-A anytime I wanted.
27:58So charitable.
28:00So you don't like to drive yourself to Chick-fil-A?
28:03Have you sat in that drive-thru?
28:05Takes forever.
28:06No, my butler does that.
28:07See?
28:09My butler, Ken Jeong.
28:12All right.
28:13Let's see what the last question did to the prize pot, everybody.
28:18$96,000.
28:20It's a lot of Chick-fil-A waiting.
28:23We are down to 17 contestants, and nobody told me how emotional I'd get from all these sudden departures.
28:30So stay tuned, because the questions, like the goodbyes, will only get more difficult.
28:34More 1% Club after this.
28:46Welcome back to the 1% Club.
28:47We are nearing the end of the game, and here's what to expect.
28:51The contestants that make it the furthest in questions, not physical movement, will share $10,000,
28:58which also happens to be how much my suit cost.
29:00Or those contestants can risk their share of the $10,000 by tackling the 1% question for a chance to win everything in the prize pot, currently at $96,000.
29:11If you still have your $1,000 left, you can pay for a pass, but you can't use it on the 1% question.
29:19Three of you still have the pass, and you've got four questions left to use it.
29:24There's a lot of anxious people in this room, and needless shouting and panic will not help.
29:30So watch out!
29:31It's the 20% question, everybody!
29:37I hear that these three words have something in common.
29:41Which of these choices belongs with them?
29:44Your time starts now.
29:46These are all things murmured by Frankenstein during foreplay.
29:58That is time, everyone!
30:13Let's see who answered correctly, and of course, who did not.
30:16We just lost seven of you on that question, which means we've got ten of you left, and three of you used your pass.
30:37Here's the answer.
30:39C, carrot.
30:40These words all sound like foods.
30:42Beet, pear, leek, and carrot.
30:45Let's talk to somebody who got it right, Brie.
30:48Hey, Joel.
30:48What do you do for work, Brie?
30:49I'm a Ph.D. student.
30:51A Ph.D. of what?
30:53Genetics and molecular biology.
30:54That's it?
30:55Wow, all right, big deal.
30:58If you win all the money, are you going to have a personal driver to Chick-fil-A?
31:03No, I don't think so, but honestly, we're becoming friends, so maybe I can borrow the driver sometimes.
31:11So you guys are friends now?
31:12Yeah, I think so.
31:13All right.
31:14Jessie, are you?
31:15You look a little nervous.
31:18I'm in a killer.
31:19I'm in a killer.
31:21I swear to you, if it's down to us, I'm in a killer.
31:24Let's talk to Erin.
31:25Hey, Erin, you got it right.
31:27I did.
31:27Shocking.
31:29Shocking?
31:30This polite golf clapping should show you how happy people are.
31:35Thanks, guys.
31:36This one was a complete guess.
31:38Really?
31:39I had no idea.
31:39Thank you for your honesty.
31:40You're welcome.
31:42That's how you can advance in this game, guys.
31:45I mean, if you don't know the answer, sometimes you just guess.
31:47Yep.
31:48I mean, look at my whole career.
31:50I'm just like, I don't know, that seems like a good idea.
31:52All right.
31:53Let's see where we are with the prize pot now.
31:58$99,000.
32:00Nice job, prize pot.
32:02Daddy loves you.
32:04The next question stumped 85% of the people we pulled.
32:08That is a huge stump-to-person ratio.
32:11Here is the 15% question.
32:14How many D's are there in total in the following tongue twister?
32:21Your time starts now.
32:31Man, I wonder if they bought their hats at the same place Carol got that jumpsuit.
32:35That is time.
32:49Put your derbies down, everybody.
32:51Let's see who answered correctly and who totally got it wrong.
32:56We just lost three of you on that question, which means we've got seven of you left.
33:13Here's the answer.
33:1615.
33:17There are 15 D's.
33:19And boy, it becomes a lot easier when you make the D's a different color.
33:23Let's talk to somebody who got it wrong.
33:25Andine, how many D's did you put?
33:2814.
33:29I missed the one at the end of dance.
33:31You were one D away from 100 grand.
33:34Too many D's.
33:35Couldn't do it.
33:37Andine, thank you.
33:39You know who did find 15 D's?
33:41Lauren.
33:41I found all the D's.
33:44Congratulations.
33:46My husband will be very proud.
33:50All right.
33:50The prize pot is at $99,000, guys.
33:54Can any of the seven remaining contestants join the 1% Club?
33:59They'll have to dig deep and squeeze out their last remaining ounce of brain juice, which
34:04looks as gross as it sounds.
34:07We'll be right back right here on Fox.
34:09Welcome back to the 1% Club.
34:21We began with 100 contestants, but now, due to brain teaser-related incidents, only seven remain.
34:28The contestants that make it the furthest in the game will win a share of $10,000, but if they're feeling brave, they can risk their share of the 10 grand and take on the 1% question for a chance to win everything in the prize pot, which is currently $99,000.
34:44A lot of money.
34:45But if anyone's going to win it, they need to survive our last three questions, including this one.
34:55Here is your 10% question.
34:58You normally have 30 seconds to answer this question, but if you started with 20 seconds and got two extra seconds for every time the word seconds appears in this question, how many seconds in total on the clock would you have?
35:16Your time starts now.
35:18Your time is up.
35:45Let's see who was still in the game.
35:48We lost none of you on that question.
36:02Here is the answer.
36:0530.
36:06The word seconds appears five times in the question.
36:09Five times two equals 10.
36:1120 plus 10 equals 30.
36:13Let's talk to somebody who got it right, which was all of you.
36:16Maya.
36:17Hey, Maya.
36:17Hello.
36:17What do you do?
36:19I work as a researcher and a strategist for an infrastructure company.
36:22What are you going to do with the money?
36:23My favorite food is sushi, and I want to fly to Tokyo and eat so much sushi that I literally fall on the ground and cannot get up.
36:31Well, that sounds like a terrible experience.
36:33It'll be worth it.
36:34It'll be worth it.
36:35That sounds unhealthy, but we support your dream.
36:39Jesse B.
36:40Jesse B. got it right in 1.7 seconds.
36:43But Bree, next to Jesse, did it take you a while to figure it out?
36:48I read it, like, I read it, like, multiple times, and I didn't lock in until towards the end, because then I'm not sure.
36:53Did you hear Jesse?
36:54Did she whisper anything like, you're going down?
36:58Not that I heard.
37:00Okay.
37:00Let's take a look at that prize pot, everybody.
37:02It is still $99,000.
37:04All of you are one question away from having a chance to take it all home.
37:10Here is your 5% question.
37:16Ned was so excited to see the sequel to his favorite superhero movie that he bought his ticket an hour and 45 minutes before half past nine.
37:25What time was it three hours after he bought his ticket when the movie started?
37:31Your time starts now.
37:34Your time is up.
37:59Let's see who still is in the game.
38:04We lost three of you on that question, which means we have four of you left.
38:21We have an incredible all-female final, everybody.
38:24Let's see what the answer is.
38:3010.45.
38:31An hour and 45 minutes before 9.30 is 7.45.
38:36His movie started three hours after that at 10.45.
38:41Congratulations to Aaron, Bree, Lauren, and Maya.
38:47You've made it to our final question, which means you've now earned a share of $10,000, and you've got a chance to take on the 1% question and win the $99,000 in the prize pot.
39:00Let's hear it for these players.
39:02When we come back, Aaron, Bree, Lauren, and Maya decide whether to go for $99,000 as they wrestle with the most difficult question of them all.
39:13Why did Fox let this guy host another show?
39:16Don't go anywhere, everyone.
39:18From 100 contestants down to you four, you are about to take on the final question of the game.
39:34Get it right, and you will win $99,000 and become official members of the 1% club, and you'll be happy to know the network no longer allows me to haze new members.
39:45Aaron, Maya, Lauren, and Bree, you need to make a decision.
39:51Either you can leave the show tonight and take your share of $10,000, which is $2,500, or you can risk it all on the 1% question.
40:03If you're right, you split everything in the prize pot, $99,000, with any other winners.
40:09If you're wrong, you leave with nothing.
40:11It's time to decide now.
40:15They're all staying, guys.
40:25They're all playing.
40:30All right.
40:30The only thing that stands between you and $99,000 is this next question.
40:37It's our all-female final, everybody.
40:39Here is the 1% question.
40:46These words have all been assigned a two-digit number according to a certain rule.
40:52What two-digit number should go with 17?
40:55Your time starts now.
40:56That is time, everybody.
41:23Bree, right now, your answers are locked in, and you can't change them, so we might as well ask you what you put.
41:31Erin, let's start with you.
41:33I didn't put an answer.
41:34I didn't get it.
41:35All right.
41:36Maya, what did you get?
41:37I put four, which makes no sense.
41:39All right, Lauren, what did you put?
41:41I put 32, but I meant 52.
41:44What was your logic there?
41:45There was a 12, a 32, and a 42, so why not add a 52?
41:48All right, Bree, what did you put?
41:51I said 55.
41:53What was the logic to that?
41:55It just, like, came to me in a vision.
41:57You just saw the number 55 and went, okay, that must be it.
42:00Yeah.
42:02All right, we've heard everyone's answers.
42:04Now it's time to find out if any of you are going to be joining the 1% club.
42:10For $99,000,
42:11The answer is 54.
42:20The first digit is the number of consonants,
42:22and the second digit is the number of vowels.
42:2517 has five consonants and four vowels,
42:28so its number is 54.
42:32Bree, 55.
42:34It was one digit off.
42:35I know.
42:36I can't believe it.
42:37I'm so sorry you did not make it into the 1% club.
42:40If it's any consolation,
42:42I would have been eliminated after the first question.
42:46All right, guys, give a big round of applause.
42:48They made it almost all the way.
42:52We'll see you all next time.
42:53Good night, everybody.
42:56One digit breeze.
42:57So close.
42:58Hooray here.
42:59Jennifer Benficent.
43:02Ooh.
43:07Yeah.
43:11Yeah.
43:12Bye.
43:13Bye.
43:14Bye.
43:15Bye.
43:15Bye.
43:16Bye.
43:19Bye.
43:22Bye.
43:25Bye.
43:26Bye.
43:27Bye.
