Bronze age artefacts stolen from St Fagan’s

St Fagan’s national museum of history is one of Wales’ favourite days out, but are now at the centre of a police investigation after Bronze Age artefacts were stolen from its indoor museum area. Police are appealing for any information.

00:06has found itself at the centre of a police investigation after a break-in that saw a

00:10significant amount of Bronze Age artefacts stolen from their indoor museum area.

00:15Police were called to the museum at half past midnight on Monday morning after two suspects

00:19were believed to have forced their way into the museum's main building. Once inside,

00:23they targeted a display in the Wales Is Gallery containing several items of ancient gold jewellery,

00:29some of which is more than 3,000 years old. Detective Inspector Bob Chambers of South

00:34Wales Police said officers believe the theft was pre-planned. He told reporters at this time they

00:39believe that two suspects forced entry to the main building where several items including Bronze Age

00:44jewellery have been stolen from a display case. An investigation is ongoing and we urge anyone with

00:49information to contact us as soon as possible. Any information, no matter how small, may be relevant

00:54to the investigation. Museum staff say they're devastated. An Amgir, for Cymru's spokesperson,

01:00says as a museum we're saddened by the events in what was a targeted attack on St Fagans National

01:05Museum of History in Cardiff. They thank police for their work on the investigation so far,

01:11and hope the items can be located and saved before people's worst fears are realised. As often happens in

01:16similar cases, the items can be melted down for their value in gold, completely destroying the ancient,

01:22irreplaceable artifacts on an important part of Welsh history. Parts of the museum have been closed since

01:28the investigation started. St Fagans is home to many priceless pieces of history, from buildings to

01:34bracelets, and every piece tells the story of Wales. Officials just hope that this story will return home to
