Leaders, innovators. and visionaries from the world of artificial intelligence gathered at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco on Monday night for the second annual TIME100 AI Impact Dinner to explore and discuss AI’s far-reaching impact across business and society.
A toast was given by Refik Anadol, the media artist who co-founded Dataland, a museum dedicated to AI arts, and who was behind the 2025 TIME100 AI cover art. Anadol praised the potential for collaborating with AI to help us understand and feel the world in new ways.

00:00Good evening, everyone.
00:01I'm deeply honored to be in this incredible moment and time
00:06with honorees of time.
00:08And I'm grateful for this memory in our life for tonight.
00:14The words I would like to share came in a very meaningful moment.
00:18And I was honored to look at the Time 100, actually, archives.
00:23Working with Jessica, D.W., Sam, and Dan, and everyone at Time,
00:27I was honored to dive into one of the most incredible memories
00:30of humanity for 100 years.
00:33And as an artist working with data and AI for almost 10 years,
00:38it feels like 100 years.
00:40And when I was going through all these incredible memories
00:44of humanity, I found those words that I would like
00:48to share tonight with you.
00:51One of the moments that I realized that it first covered 1923
00:54and before, I think of the first time a human painted
00:58on a cave wall.
01:00That gesture turning experience into image
01:03was an act of memory, of imagination, and of hope.
01:09In many ways, I believe I'm making that same gesture
01:12in my art practice.
01:13Only my walls are made of light, and the experiences
01:17comes from data and emission intelligence.
01:20When I think about the future of AI,
01:22I see a new form of collaboration between human creativity
01:26and emission intelligence that can help us understand our world
01:30in deeper, more connected ways.
01:34AI allows us to listen to the patterns of nature,
01:37which we all need, to the climate,
01:39to the stories hidden in archives.
01:42It helps us to translate complexity into form,
01:45and form into feeling.
01:49It can turn data into something we care deeply about,
01:53because every data set is a record of life.
01:58If you build AI with consent, credit, and care for nature,
02:03those traces can teach us how to coexist and how to renew.
02:11AI is, in many ways, a mirror for humanity, reflecting the complexities
02:17of being human.
02:18It is also a force, one that can be guided by the goodness
02:22and joined by creativity, capable of shaping what I call
02:27a generative reality.
02:30A reality where imagination and intelligence grow together.
02:36So tonight, I want to raise a glass with all you together,
02:39to curiosity that leads us to understanding,
02:43to imagination that crosses boundaries,
02:46and to intelligence, human and artificial,
02:50that helps us feel the world as something connected,
02:54beautiful, and full of wonder.
02:57Thank you very much.
