00:00Sitting Year 12 exams is a big achievement for anyone but even more so for Nathan Barbera who
00:09underwent a heart transplant less than a year ago. I'm very happy to be doing my HSC and to
00:15be completing all my exams to the best of my ability. He's among thousands of students who
00:19sat their first HSC exams this morning and nerves were running high. Do a prayer before I do my
00:27exam and I calm myself down because I do get really nervous and really overwhelmed by exams.
00:33There'll be written exams for 123 subjects in all. They've been working towards this now for a long
00:40time and culminating today which was great to see them so happy about how they went.
00:44More than 400,000 exam papers will be completed over the next three weeks. Marking them will take
00:52even longer giving students the anxious wait until they receive their results in mid-December.
00:59I feel quite good actually because it's a really good feeling that you're just able to knock one
01:03out of the way and now only a few more to go now. After 13 years of schooling just putting pen to
01:11paper is enough reason to celebrate.
