Laura Pausini chatted with Billboard’s Isabela Raygoza on the winner’s walk of the 2025 Billboard’s Latin Music Awards.

00:00Laura, thank you for receiving the Icon Award. It's a great honor to talk to you.

00:06And, well, who do you want to dedicate this award first and why?

00:10Well, this award for the first time in my life, I will dedicate to myself.

00:16Because, honestly, I never thought of being an icon, and I still don't believe it.

00:23But this award gave me strength to believe in myself, to know that everything I've done in those almost 32 years of career

00:34was not done in vain, right?

00:39And I have to fight and believe, and also when many people have told me no, and they weren't many,

00:48to continue. It's not always easy. So, I don't know, I have...

00:56You saw that they made it transparent, because it depends on what part of the light you put, right?

01:04And it always happens to the light, and it's a very important message.

01:08Because the light is everything in our lives.

01:11And I think that being a light being can help us all to love us more, to promise us more.

01:21So, thank you, because it was really exciting.

01:26I love it. And, well, another thing more.

01:28What message do you want to give to your fans, to your people, and to your native country?

01:33Well, my native country is Italy. My country is various, are various, because I grew up since I was 18 years old

01:42in many places in the world, especially in Spain, Latin America, Mexico, North America, obviously.

01:47But all those roots that I have have formed this tree.

01:51Because this tree has a little Italian accent with its roots, but it's full of colors, like all Latinos.

02:00So, thank you, because a tree needs light, once more, needs water, needs people who take care of it.

02:08And I have a lot of people who are you.

02:10And how are you going to celebrate this night?

02:13Well, I hope they let me eat a hamburger.

02:16They tell me that no.

02:18Because I'm always on diet, I love to eat, like a good Latina.

02:22So, this week I had to be careful, but I had to eat guacamole and several things in Mexico.

02:27So, I don't know, I'm going to celebrate it.

02:31I'm not a party party, things like that.

02:34I like to be with my friends who work with me and live with me.

02:38So, it's a hamburger.
