00:00Monday was Demo Day for the East Wing of the White House.
00:03Heavy construction equipment tore down parts of the famous facade at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue
00:08to make way for the construction of President Trump's $250 million ballroom.
00:14The windows facing the Treasury Department were all smashed in,
00:17and the White House Office of Calligraphy, yep, that's a thing, that's now a gaping hole.
00:22The East Wing was built back in 1942, and it's one of the newest parts of the White House complex.
00:27It's historically housed the First Lady's offices.
00:30Now, President Trump's party room plans call to extend the length of the East Wing south
00:35to make room for what will no doubt be a big, beautiful, and golden ballroom.
00:39Now, it's not clear exactly how much of the existing East Wing is going to be raised before construction begins.
