00:00Prince George has officially turned 12 years old, and in honor of his milestone birthday,

00:06his family has released an adorable new portrait of him that was taken in Norfolk.

00:10However, interestingly enough, the image was not taken by his mother, Princess Kate,

00:16but rather a professional photographer who has worked with the Wales family

00:20on a number of occasions over the years.

00:23Josh Shinner has photographed the prince and princess of Wales as well as their children,

00:27including taking the portrait that they used for their family Christmas card back in 2023.

00:33He also took a stunning portrait of Princess Kate back in May,

00:37which he posted on his Instagram account,

00:39saying that the two of them had enjoyed a lovely leafy stroll together.

00:43Now, while Kate and William didn't reveal the exact location of George's portrait,

00:47it's likely that it was taken on a property that the two of them own

00:51and regularly use on weekends and for holidays.

00:53The home, which is known as Anne Mahal, is essentially a weekend getaway for William,

00:59Kate and their children, and is understood to have been the location where Kate spent much

01:03of her time while she was recovering from her cancer treatment.

01:07But the photo wasn't the only birthday gift that we received.

01:11In fact, the family also shared an adorable behind-the-scenes video that was taken of George

01:16with his two siblings, Charlotte and Louis.

01:18Honestly, the footage is even more special than the photo because it shows young George,

01:24who, let's not forget, is a future king, just enjoying life as a normal 12-year-old boy.

01:30He can be seen strolling around a stunning leafy landscape with his two siblings,

01:35laughing, playing games, and at one point he and Charlotte even pick up their younger brother

01:40in an apparent attempt to hoist him over a fence.

01:43We've all been there.

01:44Whether you're royal or not, younger siblings can be a real pain.

01:47What's also very clear from the photo is that George is growing up to be the spitting image

01:53of his father, Prince William.

01:55People went to town comparing images of William as a young boy with this latest portrait of George,

02:01and everyone has drawn the same conclusion.

02:04The two of them are essentially identical.

02:06The only difference that some have pointed out?

02:08George has better dress sense.

02:10Now, George received birthday well wishes from pretty much everyone you can imagine,

02:15and everyone you can't.

02:16The official royal family Instagram account reposted the picture and wished him a very happy birthday.

02:22However, thus far, it's been silence from across the pond,

02:26where Meghan Markle has a very active Instagram account that remained surprisingly silent despite George's big day.

02:33But I very much doubt that their silence has hampered George's celebration,

02:37particularly because he is in the midst of enjoying a summer holiday from school,

02:41and will next year enter his final year at his current school before going off to a new institution.

02:47Perhaps he's going to attend Eton, much like his father, Prince William, did,

02:51but as yet it remains to be seen.

02:53As for William and Kate, they can look forward to one final year before George becomes an official teenager.
